From 9to5mac, these are the features NOT AVAILABLE in this release:
  • Image Playground, the AI image generation tool
  • Genmoji, which uses the Image Playground tech for creating custom emojis
  • Priority Notifications, the tool to ensure you see the alerts that matter most
I can see Reduce Interruptions in Focus settings on the Mac version, which seems to include something that looks like priority notifications. Would be surprised if that wasn't included for iOS (which I can't test, not having a supported iPhone)

they’re doing 18.1 betas for the 15 pro series since they’re the only devices that can run apple intelligence at the moment, but other devices will likely hop onto the 18.1 beta track after ios 18 has publicly released. don’t assume things without understanding the full picture.
We are way past this. There are no assumptions, just speculations. You know as much as anyone else. You are assuming that everyone will fall in line on iOS 18.1, but Apple hasn’t officially said this. We actually don’t know how iOS 18 release will work.

Everyone here just get all the bugs out so it’s clean for us peons that don’t have AI and 18.1. 😂

There’s one intriguing aspect to share:

I reside in Germany and have a German Apple ID. I’ve configured my MacBook to use US English as the language and region. Despite this, I successfully enabled Apple Intelligence on my Mac without any issues. However, I haven’t discovered a way to activate it for iOS and iPadOS. Any updates on bypassing the geolock feature would be greatly appreciated.
I am in Slovakia and I experienced the same thing…my Mac Studio is able to enable Apple Intelligence, but no my iPad Pro M1 and my iPhone 15 Pro…

Likely? We have never seen something this fragmented from Apple before, so there is no clear picture if anything else will get 18.1. Apple could have released the beta of 18.1 to everyone and removed the AI toggle from the phones that aren’t 15 pros, but they didn’t. Seems they are making a line in the sand for the .1 update.

I have been using Apple products since the early days, this may not be the biggest, but it’s the biggest we have seen in a long time.
Jason Snell talked about this on a recent Upgrade podcast. Siri is going to be a fragmented mess (at least for now). Let’s not forget Apple Intelligence isn’t coming to Apple Watch or HomePods.

Yeah, that’s quite peculiar. I’m relieved to have found someone who experienced the same behavior. I’ve tried everything, including using a Surfshark VPN on my iPad and iPhone, disabling Cellular and Locations Services, and even considering other possibilities, but nothing seems to work.

I tried similar things, NordVPN, Airplane mode, US appleID for the AppStore. The last thing I didn’t try is a complete new AppleID, but that wouldn’t be very helpful. Waiting for a solution now. If I catch something, I’ll let you know. I’ll keep an eye on Reddit 😉

Can someone explain how to use smart reply? I know about the writing tools when text is highlighted but can’t seem to figure it out if it is indeed available.

There must be a bypass, for sure. I believe people from the USA are also familiar with workarounds when it comes to Sideloading. We should wait 24 to 48 hours. If anyone discovers a way to bypass the EU’s Geoblock, the world will be informed very soon. There are numerous individuals actively attempting to find a solution for sure.

The was probably already mentioned, so apologies, but the Feedback app has a feature for rating Apple Intelligence content as good or bad, and as you rate more you get “points” for leveling up.

This seems like a great idea and an easy way for Apple to get additional, light feedback.

I’m in Spain and it took 3-4 minutes for the acceptance of Apple intelligence, then started to prepare and let me activate it. No problems so far with that, without VPN, but my region has always been us, the Apple Store account is from Guatemala, and the language has always been English.

I wonder how long it will take for the waitlist to be gone through until we actually get Apple Intelligence features. I would assume pretty soon, since they released the iOS 18.1 beta. Because why would they release the beta now and say not turn on the Apple Intelligence features for a few weeks.
What is this waitlist and where can I find it. I just downloaded the developer beta. It there are no AI features? Edit. Not available in the UK

In Siri settings on top, says join the waitlist, to get Apple intelligence. For most it takes a couple of minutes and then it changes to a message saying if you want to activate the feature.

Has anyone gotten the natural language search working in Photos? It seems to work with some things, like “<my cat> lying on the bed”, but “<husband> wearing a green shirt” doesn’t. Maybe I just need to leave my phone plugged in for a while?

I am enjoying Apple Intelligence, and have already reported multiple issues with Siri. Everyone should test it heavily and report everything. We all want it to be the best it can be. It'll only get better with more information.
Must be nice. I enabled it and my Siri is still dumb as hell. Can't do anything more than basic siri could. No context to any follow ups no nothing. If I ask to leave feedback it just tells me it can't understand.

Well I just joined the waitlist, but it’s been 30 minutes and no access yet. I guess they filled their initial allocation

It is available in the UK but you have to change your device AND Siri language to US English

After experimenting with iOS 18.1 for an extended period, enabled by Apple Intelligence, I found that it did not meet my requirements. Consequently, I reverted to iOS 18.0 Beta 4.

Despite the enhanced features, my iPhone consistently experienced excessive heat. My 15 PM model, which was recently purchased, has only undergone six charge cycles. I am hesitant to deplete the battery prematurely.

^^ However, I'm using Apple Intelligence on my MacBook Pro and used writing tools to correct this professionally which I am impressed.
