="gwhizkids, post:The home bar is more used to summon typing Siri. Double tap it and typing Siri appears.

Interesting mine isn’t working when I double tap it

Has anyone gotten the natural language search working in Photos? It seems to work with some things, like “<my cat> lying on the bed”, but “<husband> wearing a green shirt” doesn’t. Maybe I just need to leave my phone plugged in for a while?
Mine doesn’t work either. If I say (wife) wearing long sleeve shirt. (Wrong pictures, wearing a dress or wrong person comes up).

But (wife) pictures from town or city work.

Initially installed and setup on my 15 ProMax.
Later I set it up on my iPad Pro 11. Interestingly it auto-setup using the same settings I had on my iPhone. No ask, just did it.

Been trying the feature on a couple of documents. Interesting rewrites and not trustworthy at this time. Decent grammar and spelling though 👍.

Decent start. Be interesting to see how this evolves.

I was searching for messages in settings and saw this reference for Costco and it has the apple intelligence logo next to it. Tapping it opens Apple intelligence and goes to all the apps. It looks like Costco has something being baked, possibly for Apple intelligence.

After experimenting with iOS 18.1 for an extended period, enabled by Apple Intelligence, I found that it did not meet my requirements. Consequently, I reverted to iOS 18.0 Beta 4.

Despite the enhanced features, my iPhone consistently experienced excessive heat. My 15 PM model, which was recently purchased, has only undergone six charge cycles. I am hesitant to deplete the battery prematurely.

^^ However, I'm using Apple Intelligence on my MacBook Pro and used writing tools to correct this professionally which I am impressed.
Just being on betas, period, will be harder on your battery than if you stick with released versions. At the same time, given the earliness of this beta and its obvious processor / RAM-usage intensity, of course it’s going to cause most phones to get warm or even hot, especially during the first several hours after installation, when the phone is reindexing. Personally I would have waited a day or two before bailing out to see if the heat issue resolved itself.

As for it not meeting your requirements, I’m not sure what your expectations were. However it seems to be doing what Apple advertised it would.

If you’re expecting a world beating experience with this service, you’re probably going to remain disappointed. Apple tends to refine experiences rather than enlarge them. Much of what Apple Intelligence will do (at this stage) is slready done - and done well -0 by others such as Grammarly and ChatGPT. The benefit to Apple Intelligence is that it will do it natively and (eventually) allow cross application integration. But we knew that wasn’t coming yet.

It's part of the current Siri search suggestions. If you go into Siri settings and then go to Apps, it'll show a list of almost all your apps with their Siri suggestions settings. While Costco may be doing something with AI intents, it wouldn't be present in their current app and likely related to current Siri suggestions.

Further evidence of this is the fact that Outlook and (all apps!) Extra Space Storage (a mini storage company here in the US) each have intents-based shortcuts actions listed now.

Jason Snell talked about this on a recent Upgrade podcast. Siri is going to be a fragmented mess (at least for now). Let’s not forget Apple Intelligence isn’t coming to Apple Watch or HomePods.
I tried to refrain from this because that doesn’t go over well, but I 100% agree with that. This is starting down a road of fragmentation I never saw Apple going.

My screen keeps going very dim, first time in entire iOS 18 beta cycle.

Could this have to do with heat? My iPhone is fairly warm..

It’s set to max brightness, so dim. And I’ve done five or six restarts, which fixed glitchy notifications and glitchy Siri..

PS - wouldn’t you know it? It popped again. It’s irratic, I’ve been seeing this behavior ever since the 18.1 beta update earlier today
