This has been the worst beta for me on my 13 pro. Resprings, stutters, terrible battery life.

Roll on the next beta.
I haven't had any resprings or crashes on my 13PM. Stutters? Yes, a lot, especially in photos app. Terrible battery life? Yes, on LTE but on wifi it's way better than on iOS 17.

I realised that on this beta when my phone connects to my car and music starts playing through CarPlay, it skips every second for few minutes. Really annoying and restart doesn't help.

Also alarms are not working properly for me. Sometimes only my watch vibrates, sometimes only my phone rings, and when I turn it off on my watch, it doesn't turn off on my phone.

I don’t have the CarPlay or alarms problem. Strange how we have different bugs, on the same model phone lol.

I have a weird or odd bug, I have AOD enabled that shows messages…these messages show up 60% of the size when I tap the screen then stay at that size even when the screen is unlocked…then they stutter and go back to normal size. …is the only way I can explain.
Still no heating up but battery life seems to get worse each day on this beta.
Other than this it’s pretty darn smooth.

Running B5 on both the 15PM and iPad Pro 11. Only have seen this issue when on the iPad but …

I have a Google TV (TCL 55” 4K) and have the same user id / YouTube Premium on all three devices. All streaming or local, no cable.

With B5, if my wife has the TV on and I am watching YT on the iPad, sporadically the TV will switch to YT showing the thumbnail pic of what I am watching on the iPad. Until B5, it has never done that. She can be watching Prime, Paramount, Apple TV, etc… makes no difference that we have seen. I can be using my Honor V2 for YT and it never happens. Just the iPad so far and on B5.

I am going to try this today on my 15PM. Don’t usually watch YT on the 15.

I have an issue with carplay where sometimes it doesn't connect and I have to unplug and plug back in, or the weird bug (that's been around for awhile) where the screen is reversed and you can't use the touch screen in car to click items. This happened on my 15 pro as well as the 16 pro in my subaru.

You better watch only YouTube and avoid watching any other tube channels on this beta 😜😂

I have to say the bug where app icons disappear is the most annoying bug I’ve seen in recent iOS builds

I ended up doing a factory reset and restore from my iCloud backup.

Seems to have solved my re spring problems so far. Too early for battery comparisons.

Edit: spoke too soon. Just had a respring 🙄

Does anyone have problems with the activity rings? They work fine on the watch, but they are not synced with the iPhone…

I’m having a really weird behavior with my AirPods, and I’m curious if others are getting it because I didn’t notice it before this beta. When Siri reads me texts I receive, my AirPods make a strange slow beeping noise. It only happens when Siri is reading messages and not listening to music. Has anyone else had this happen?
I get this with 18.0. I’ve tried turning off head gestures to see if it helps. Need to test this further though.

Clean up tool, just did 3 clean ups in a row on different images and my phone started to get rather warm. Definitely needs a bit more work under the hood.
To be honest when I do any semi heavy work in Photos on iOS my phone warms up. Been like that on both the 15 PM and 16 Pro.

Photos app doesn’t seem to be great at handling a lot of the features it has - they seem to really push the hardware.

Maybe that’s just a fact of life though, not a bug. Maybe the phones are just about powerful enough to do what the Photos app needs but will usually heat up to get there.

It’s always the app I feel is most fragile - it’s been my most used app for years and has gotten progressively less stable.

Having a seriously annoying issue with this build on my iPhone 13. Everyone once in a while, when using or opening an app, the screen goes black with a circular "loading" icon rotating in the middle of the screen and then 3-5 seconds later it throws me back to the lock screen.

I think much of what you say is true, but at the same time, I suspect they’ve also not yet optimized the processes for photo handling and cleanup. So I suspect the processor may be working harder than it will once18.1 is released. You also have to account for the fact that it’s probably logging a lot of the activity as you do it, which is possibly also straining the processor and generating the excess heat.

Maybe?

I’m doing this on a 15 ProMax and it gets really warm
I’m also doing this on an S24 Ultra and Pixel 9 Pro. The 9 Pro gets really warm but the Ultra gets just a bit warm.

Maybe the Ultra has better heat dispersion? Skipping the 16 series so won’t test there.
