Updated earlier also however, I am still looking for an answer as to why Apple removed Apple Intelligence from phone such as iPhone 13 pro and 14 pro...doesn't make sense and wondered whether it's to force an upgrade to the later models or something else...dying to find out...

One issue where updated apps would just sit with an open status is resolved. They are now dropping to the bottom when update is completed.

Apps seem to update quicker too, but may be unrelated to updated OS.
I think it’s unrelated, as you suggest. I see terrible latency intermittently with the App Store: spinning progress wheels after every tap, apps sitting there after updating, etc. Since my WiFi connection is solid everywhere else, I’ve guessed that the problem is either on Apple’s side, or that my ISP is throttling App Store connections at times. 🤷‍♂️

Edit: I am on 18.3.1

Looks to me as if the Passwords app has a new spinner for the verification codes?

Apple Intelligence never was implemented on 13 and 14 by Apple.
There was a flaw allowing the MobileGestalt file on the old iPhones to be hacked until 18.2. This was patched by Apple. But you only got the new look never functionality.

The old iPhone simply don’t have enough RAM to run Intelligence proper.

I still not understand...when I upgrade to IOS 18.1 on my 13 pro, it had Apple Intelligence...from Apple. Sadly, I never tried it to learn functionality issue because couple days later IOS 18.3 had came out and I updated only to discovered it was gone and Apple had treated the update as a must have. I wondered those who hacked their phone are having any performance issue with lack of adequate RAM. I am not interested in the hack.

that's weird.

btw- the patch gave only an optical illusion of running the new Siri interface - it was never able to run Intelligence tasks except the ChatGPT ones. It was quickly patched by Apple with 18.2 and became pretty useless and staying forever on old beta version imposes some security risks aswell.

The beta 2 is out since few days now.

Can you please share your feedback about battery life, performance and reliability?

Thanks

Performance is nice and smooth, only thing I noticed, when I use Duolingo (use it 1-2 hrs each day) my 15 PM runs hot like a chilli 🌶️!
Strange behavior and I hope it gets better with next betas or next Updates of the app

Yep, it gets warm immediately. To be honest though, Image Playground is something I genuinely have zero use for. The Ai stuff on iOS in general seems to be a bit of a non-starter for iOS 18. What's there feels like garbage. I'd stick to the third party apps for now.

If I'm completely honest, there isn't much to recommend iOS 18.4. The beta seems to work ok but I'm struggling to find any real value. I guess the clean up tool in Photos is nice. A very small feature though - wouldn't miss it if it was not there.
It’s by far no groundbreaking stuff. For me in Germany it was thrilling to finally get all of this new stuff with the beta of iOS 18.4 - that was mainly the reason to jump on the beta train so early this time.
I already had huge fun creating my best friends with Genmoji and we really had to laugh a lot about it. But it’s nothing that I urgently need. Furthermore the image creation apps feel still very buggy and sluggish, can’t be because of the beta version because this was introduced with earlier versions.
What I like is the new Siri animation and the Chat GPT integration. See the usecase to let written text checked or summarised. Other stuff like „visual intelligence“ and all the sorting of messages and notifications are nice.
Magic eraser worked in my second test much better than before.

Overall it’s a nice package to get as a iPhone 15 Pro user. A lot of new stuff 1 1/2 years after buying this phone.
I won’t complain about but apple needs to accelerate with their AI stuff. Hoping for the „on screen“ awareness and some useful cases.

Plus you needed to download the AI model again, which probably took lots of battery power.

Far too early to say something.
Beta 1 was terrible for me after a couple of days. Beta 2 feels fine now, way less battery drain in regular usage.

Apple states on its Intelligence Availability page (German Version):

"In the Notes and Phone app, users can now record audio, transcribe it, and summarize it. If a recording is started in the Phone app during a call, the participants are automatically notified, and after the conversation ends, Apple Intelligence generates a summary to help users recall important points."

[German text translated to Englisch using Writing Tools (ChatGPT Compose)]

The iOS Feature Availability Page confirms that too:

"Phone: Call Recording
- German
"

Still don't see that here. Anyone found a way to activate? I can only use it and see the settings logging into my US-AppStore-ID (what I want to prevent because of my iTunes library ...)

Diggin' and testing for that I found that to activate Live Voicemail on a German phone, you need to set region to Germany too - having Region US it won't show up...

Region Setting DE

The feature I'm really missing (In The EU) is iPhone mirroring to Mac. I can't fathom the supposed issues involved in implementing this. I'd like to view 'my' phone on 'my' Mac...there isn't a privacy issue. Crazy times.

The EU sticking their beaks where they have no business to I assume…again!

Absolutely !!

And the workaround to use an US AppStore Account works flawless on the Mac (differentiating Media (DE) and Purchase/AppStore (US) accounts) but not on the iPhone, where you can only have one account for both uses ... Media & AppStore (US) OR (DE) ...

Is Visual Intelligence now available for the 15 Pro Max? From an article on 15.4 new features.
