iOS 18.4 Beta 2 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

It’s probably the smoothest release so far of ios 18. 18.4 actually fixed some issues that had persisted since the release of 18.0. I had a slight battery issue with 18.4 beta 1 on my ipad. It just seemed to be running down slightly more than I’m used to. As is usually the case, it was an app that somehow was extensively running in the background. It was the Skeets app for BlueSky. I killed the app and then did a forced restart of the ipad. Everything has been perfect since. No battery issues on my phone which has always been my experience unless some specific app is misbehaving.

True, can’t see the reason why this should be blocked by the EU in any way. Doesn’t Android have this feature, too?

15PM on Mint Mobile.
Found it, activated it and so far it works okay. Uses Google for search and info.

I still can't set a shortcut on the Lock Screen flashlight/camera positions. It's just blanked out, and won't let me select any shortcut. Has been any issue since 18.1 I think. Anybody else?

EU probably wants Apple to support mirroring for androids on the Mac or iPhone on windows, not to get in conflict with anticompetitive laws

Thank you, dk001. What do you mean by Setting. The Visual Intelligence option is still not there for me. I see that I have a new beta update. Maybe that will make a difference. I'll let you know. I've got the Visual Intelligence now!!

Settings > Action Button > scroll through the options. It is the 4th button from the left for me.
 
Hi. Does anyone can confirm if the screen flickering was resolved or still happening on this beta?

And why do you think it's because of something from the EU? Apple simply didn't want to launch this feature, nothing more. Like so many others that are in other regions or languages and not in others. In Spanish for example, more than a year later, I still need to say "Hey Siri" to invoke Siri while in English it's no longer necessary. Is this also the EU's fault? If it were due to some regulation, it couldn't be activated as easily as adding a US AppleID because they would have legal problems anyway.

Today the phone feels much faster. Very good. Even if still not perfect.

- WiFi connection always fails after the update. Only a network reset helps

- Visual Intelligence doesn’t work with the camera button anymore
 
iPhone 15PM apple email issue hanging at “checking email.” Have to go to Safari-Yahoo mail to check mail. Anyone having email retrieval issues with apple mail?

Strange feedback - „works as designed“

Anyone having issues with saving photos or using photos from apps? After this update the Photos app has been more laggy than before. Since iOS 18 was introduced it wouldn't show the most up to date photos when opened until it refreshed. Example: Take a screenshot and you go into photos after saving it and it's not there right away, takes about a minute. Lately though on 18.4b2 I am noticing that the Photos app is completely borked. I can open it and it just shows a black screen. Screen Recordings state they are saving at the top for about 5-10 minutes before they finally save. Downloading images from other apps also is being very similar, taking a while or not working at all. I'm constantly saving and sending and using photos as part of my development work so this has been an absolute game stopper and I've gotten no help from concierge development support (not surprising, I'm still working around bugs from iOS 15). I hope I'm not alone
