I have said it before, it goes in waves. It's been off and on heating issues since iOS 17. One update would fix it, the next would mess it up again. I guess Apple just can't completely figure it out. Beta is a bit more understandable with all that is going on, but full releases are hard to defend.
I think is also an instagram problem

Ugh I just noticed they reverted back to the phone call dialing and I clicked it thinking that wouldn’t happen

What is this phone call dialing thing in recents that everyone is upset about? When they changed it in the previous betas, I was confused about how it worked so I didn’t interact with it. The “I” button was gone from the recent call so I assumed there wasn’t a way to go to the contact’s info directly from the recent call. So I guess I’m kinda glad they went back to the iOS 17 design, personally.

It was the greatest change ever! Hah

Simply tap on the big area that has the number and it would take you to the info page where you could add, block, etc. no more accidental calls (like I’ve been doing for two days straight).

Call button was nice and small and off to the right.

I’m sure they’ll change it back.

Do you feel this is close to the golden master? On my 15 Plus I typically end my day around 70-75% battery left and my battery health is 100% with 130 cycles. I just don't want to do anything that would potentially harm the battery health as I have heard the betas can be hard on the health of the battery.

No yet, give it a couple more versions I’d say.

Oh I see, that does seem a lot better than the current implementation. I was just afraid to tap the number and have it call someone, so I never experimented with it.

Anyone still with keyboard lag? Little bit better than the last beta but it’s still there quite often. Really hoping they bring back the recent call dial change that we had in the past, loved the new way it worked as well as a lot of others from past comments. 15 Pro Max

Yep still got some keyboard lag. It better than the last beta, but sure not fixed. It was way better on beta 4.

Don't know if it's due to keyboard lag, but I've definitely found myself mistyping a lot more on these iOS 18 betas. And the auto-correct still sucks and doesn't fix it. Unless my mistyping is really that bad 😅

Yeah autocorrect has been a bit of mess on these betas. I am not sure what Apple did with the keyboard, but they need to just go back to how it was.

Agreed, I was doing fine most of the day, but last night surfing IG ate up my battery quick!

Also the music app has become a problem again. This was an issue back in early iOS 17 days, but now it’s back. Gets the phone warm and then just starts eating away at the battery. Apple really needs to figure this out.

I hope so. And yes it was a great change for sure.

Don’t know if this is a bug or not. Been running the beta since B1, just noticed that when I set an alarm (never used the alarm previously), to play music or a tone it plays at loud volume even tho I have my iPhone 13’s volume set to low. If I pick the phone up it drops to low volume where it was set. Curious why it drops to the set volume only when I pick it up. Am I missing a setting somewhere or is just a bug in the software?

Perhaps check in Settings > Accessibility > Face ID & Attention section to see if this might affect your volume?

It might also be that Instagram and Facebook need to update their apps to run smoothly on iOS 18.

I just don't want to do anything that would potentially harm the battery health as I have heard the betas can be hard on the health of the battery.

From a purist perspective, betas can indeed put more strain on the battery life. However, how much it will affect your particular device varies widely, depending on your 3rd party apps (yes, Instagram and Facebook!) and your general usage pattern.

Then we have a “Carpe Diem!” lot, preferring to bask in a glory of new iOS tweaks months/weeks before official releases, despite some occasional hiccups along the way.

The choice is yours. 😉

Very true, and that could help with both those apps. But Apple is to blame on the music app. That one has been an on and off issue since the beginning of iOS 17. Seems like they could have figured that one out by now.

Well this is odd.. 2 days later my control center widgets all loaded correctly. No change on my part.
Have you rebooted? And they're all still ok?

I usually reboot my phone once a day (well, I turn it off at night) but haven't since installing this latest beta, as redoing all my Home widgets is irritating. Doing it once after the beta install was enough ;)

After running beta 6 on both a 13 mini and a 15 pro max for a few days I can say that this feels close enough to a final release for me.

I know about the control centre bug, have a feeling that will be fixed for sure soon. I can’t recall noticing much else - this feels like iOS 17 to me mostly.

There’s not much iOS 18 improves for me over 17 to be honest. I don’t really like the new control centre and think that the UI in Photos was stronger before but both changes are fine as the core functionality is still there.

I like how I can limit change to 95% on the 15 Pro Max now, I’ll use that little feature. Hiding elements in Safari is also a little useful the odd time.

Being able to customise the springboard is also a little nice - a plus I think. Oh and the new broader Tapback in messages will be great (when everyone is on iOS 18 and I can actually use it 😏).

RCS hasn’t landed for 2 different carriers for me here in the EU…might kick in after general release I guess.

Ai won’t be making an appearance here in the EU but that’s ok as it’s going to be a bit beta-ish for a long time I think.

I’ll miss the new Siri when it comes out which is the biggest shame. I wonder if the EU and Apple will ever come to an amicable agreement. Somehow I don’t see it, at least for a long time. They’re a bit like kids who have fallen out with each other 😊

All in all it’s an okay OS update, just like last year and the year before.

Anybody else got the bug if you create a playlist with self bought music in the music app, those playlists disappear after a while, always have to recreate them, that sucks, already filed a feedback for apple - FB14808922
