From what I can see from the app updates I’ve received thus far, it appears that developers are embracing the app intent model pushed by Apple. That’s very encouraging.
Just checked 1:03 EST and RC build looks like final GM?

- Select which beta you’d like to receive (public/developer beta)
- Hit "Back" and pull down to refresh
- Back up to a computer or to iCloud
- Install the beta
Troubleshooting: If the beta doesn’t show up on your phone, try turning on airplane mode, then turning it back off, or restart your device.
- Turn off the Beta Updates (you can also sign out of your Apple Account to reset this setting)
- Wait for the next public release or follow the guide below to go back to a release build
How to install using a Mac?
Notes/Tips:
- You’ll need the Xcode beta itself or a MobileDevice.pkg somebody extracted from the beta (click with two fingers or control-click), then choose Show Package Contents. Go to Contents/Resources/Packages. - this will work on older Macs that do not support the latest macOS or Xcode betas)
- Back up to your Mac or to iCloud in case you need to go back to another version
- Hold down Option, then click on ‘Check for Update’/‘Restore iPhone...’ and select the IPSW file you downloaded from the Apple Developer site. Note: You must be connected to the internet to complete the restore.
- Enter your iPhone passcode if you’re prompted to do so.
- Always keep a backup in case you need to restore your phone
- Restoring wipes your settings and all data on your iPhone
- You only need to reinstall MobileDevice.pkg if your Mac stops recognizing your iPhone
- There is no MobileDevice.pkg equivalent to iTunes for PC which would require a new iTunes to support new/beta iOS
- Upgrading to a newer iPhone? You can update using your Mac before setting up the phone

Historical beta release chart
A shame. I've got a couple of issues I was hoping would get resolved via a new build.
Dang sorry to hear. I was half hoping it wouldn't be a new build bc tbh my battery life and performance has been really good on everything across the board. this feels like a really nice x.0 release, color me surprised.
Maybe minus some edge cases, I dont think most people should hesitate to upgrade. And I *never* say this for the most part I have horrid upgrade anxiety over spotty QC and unknowns.
Depends on what build/Beta version you are on. If RC then no. same build. Anything else then yes. Must turn off beta updates in settings tho before you will get the release.
that is RC build, which is same as GM build (the official IOS 18 release)
Beta updates were turned off in the background on my phone and ipad with no way to turn them on. This has happened before and was corrected in a short time.Depends on what build/Beta version you are on. If RC then no. same build. Anything else then yes. Is there a way to turn off tinted icons when in dark mode? They are just super ugly
Sorry, should have been more specific. The Home Screen ones are fine. But when using dark mode the app icons in the settings app for example all remain the ugly tinted one. Was wondering if there’s a setting for that. What do you mean? You hold an icon (until it wiggles), hit edit top left customize and choose static light, dark, or automatic (dynamic with light/dark mode) or tinted
And if you want to un-tint the background, that sun icon above light icon. and if you toggle large icons, you remove icon labels.
in other words just select light and it always will be (should've been already defaulted to that for existing home screen set ups?)

Looks like this has fixed itself -- I can now write and submit reviews on the App Store. If the RC is really the final build, then there is at least one issue for those of us who installed the RC over the past week. When I try to leave a review on the App Store, it says "This feature isn't available" because I'm running a prerelease version of iOS. So there is at least something in the code that is flagging my installation as "prerelease."
I'm on Three, just got the carrier update myself too. Still no RCSRunning the RC since last week, no update today as same build but there was a carrier update to Three UK from v59.0 to v59.1
Couldn’t find a thread for this, but I currently have the iOS 18 public beta on my phone. Do I need to or is there a way to go to the official one that Apple released for this?
Perfect, thanks so much!If you installed the Release Candidate while on the public beta you already have the “official” one. No need to do anything.
