Do you mean volume up? It can be used to start and stop video recordings as well as take photos.

I think what was meant is volume up for taking still images (as it is now) with the addition of the volume down button to record video. I like this idea. It removes the need for changing the toggle switch and using the shutter button.

Add this to my list. :)

A file structure, so I can upload work files to my web site!
lack of filesystem is on of iOS's selling points.

There are tools to hack around this, dropbox, filee, and other clients. But ultimately you are trying to use a screwdriver to hammer a nail. Get a laptop.

you think they will add a Widgets to the app store ? Or just allow developers to "include" widgets within the apps? That would be cool...lets say latest tweets on the dashboard...

I love how a majority if these things are in other Smartphone OSes (Android, WP7)

One thing that not just Apple, but EVERY OS make needs to do, is include a quick reply on message and IM client notifications. I'm sick and tired of constantly going back and forth between apps to send a message or IM. I'm extremely surprised no one has done this yet.

Shuffle albums like the iPod Classic has. It was my absolute favourite feature on that iPod; being able to listen to an album as the artist intended, but then moving on to another album.

Reasonable Folder management

Not sure if this is iOS or iTunes; but a way to structure apps inside folders that is NOT stored on a single device. I should NOT have to spend HOURS and HOURS structuring my apps into folders on each device uniquely. I should be able to structure my apps ONE time, have that structure be persistent across add devices, and backed up in a way that it can actually be restored to the device.

Put the folder storage on iTunes / cloud. Allow me to edit the structure, pull it down to my devices, with apps contained.

This is the WORSE feature of iOS to date. I constantly loose the folder structures on my devices. My apps scroll across 20+ pages and I can't see / edit the apps. The restore process often fails to restore the structure. It takes HOURS to structure the folders from scratch again.

Upgrade from iOS 4 to 5 lost all the structure on all my devices (x4). It took days to get it back, and each one is unique, just different enough to make them super hard to use.

Folder passwords

A few extra widgets in notification center would be nice. Not crazy amounts of info, something like the bottom of the screen when you watch sports center, or some news headlines. Especially once its open sliding left or right could open some possibilities

I agree with the swipe up for the multitasking tray but i hate that its only one row. Why cant it be full screen like the notification center or 3 rows like a folder.

I like the new notifications but i get a lota txts and i dont always answer them right away. I wish the notifications didnt block the top part of the app your in. If im in safari and i want to use the address bar scroll to the top its annoying.

Im surprised no ones said this but i wish the was a seperate conversation in txts or the photo album that kept all photos, web sites, addresses, ph#s, etc that are texted to you. It would be so much easier than trying to remember who texted something like that to you and then having to search back through the conversation for it

Some sort of password manager would be nice. It was on a wm6.1 phone i had and was kinda nice

Better photo albums with date an times for photos. Evertime ive created an album it doesnt remove the photo from the camera roll. Seems a waste to have it in more than one album

I dont have a computer bc since i finished school i havent really needed the added utility and my sister has a laptop that i use occasionally but i do have a 1tb hard drive. It would be great if i could connect to it with wifi and no computer to stream a movie or music, manage files, or transfer playlists. That would be really computer free

Id also like a little better app integration. I wish you could tag contacts in the notes or calendar so you could click on their names an call them. Or click an address to go to maps. With notes too id like a way to expand a collapse some parts like an outline to keep it a little more organized. Some interaction between calendar reminders and the reminders app or vice versa would be nice too

More call history in recent calls. I usually get a week at most before they start disappearing. A better solution would be to have like the last 3 calls under contact info like they have if theres multiple calls in a row from the same contact and you click the arrow it shows info about each individual call

Siris great but not being able to use it until the phome is unlocked seems to defeat the purpose. Most of the time im useing it while im driving by myself why cant i say my password? Additional apps integrated into siri would be great, release some api's. Id like to open pandora and change stations. Or maybe read back results ot provides to expand on hands free?

Thats all i can think of lol

It really isn't.

Besides, iOS already has a user accessible file system - the photo app is a file system, for users.

The problem is it's a crap one, with hopeless UX. The fact we've got to iOS5 and there's no way to upload photos from the browser is embarrassing.

Thousands of apps have their own individual file systems with completely inconsistent UIs. How the heck is that supposed to be a selling point to non-technical users?

You can do that already and also back in iOS 4 (maybe earlier?) by typing what you want to find up in the search field (google/yahoo/bing) and scrolling down WITHOUT hitting search. There you have the menu called "On this page" :)

I know this is an older post, but this really is a terrible and non-iuntuitive way to do searching. It's about as anti-Apple as I can think. We need something better than this. It simply isn't convenient.

If apple opened up the messaging API we would already have this. THis is exactly what HadCent SMS does on Android and it's wonderful.

Shouldnt there be more than one dot on the date in the calendar if i have 8 appointments from three calendars? And why cant they be in color to match the appointment? Its hard to buy a present if you cant tell that one dot meant you had a full day, an couldnt tell until the last minute there was a bday in there. Put a present or a B on the day

[sarcasm] How about a new naming convention in which Apple names iOS versions after healthy foods.

Apple, Banana, Carrot, D-something, E-something [/sarcasm]

1. Toggle between 3G/Edge.
2. 'Text Only' Emails.
3. Decline Call from Lock Screen.
4. 'Phone Call Only' mode (like Blackberry)
5. Download only email message headers.
6. Forward an email as SMS and vice-versa without going through copy/paste.
7. In case Wifi network can not access Internet, fall back onto 3G/Edge.

Add Google to the options of a selection.
Much easier than: Select, Copy, (Switch to Safari), Search Bar, Paste, Enter

Select all in the mail app so that I can delete all emails at once.
Add pics and docs directly in mail.
Print to PDF natively.
Being able to get to my Time Capsules Disk and interchange files.

Delivery notifications? iMessage and WhatsApp both provide that. Surely the person you're texting has either one of these?

If they have a Nokia 3210? No.

I know a fair amount of people with mobile phones that don't have colour screens, never mind iMessage or WhatsApp support.

The penetration of smart phones in India is less than 10%. So SMS delivery notification is important.

I am unable to email if i select more than 5 images in an email...is there a workaround?

No, on the stock OS, 5 is the limit.

If you swipe from right to left on a new notification it will make it go away.
