Just called the Apple Care, same useless suggestions (JavaScript + Bing + total reset without the backup). The only interesting thing they said (after I felt very irritated :D ) that the engineers are working on a new version of Safari WebKit engine (but I don't know if is an accurate information). That could also point to my previous post: on my iPhone with the WebKit update log I haven't the linksgate, on my iPad Mini 4 I haven't that log and I have the bug. Just suppositions :)
[doublepost=1459178097][/doublepost]Oh just another things Not mentioned (found it the same day I found the linksgate): also if you try to send a link to the reading list from another app it doesn't work (no freeze or crash, simply doesn't add the link to RL).
I use the reading list very often from the Reeder app or NewsFlash  this can confirm the deep linking bug (the apps can't communicate between each other)

If this behavior was on a PC I'd suspect malware, especially when JS is involved.
My iPad Air on 9.3 is working perfectly.....for now.

I deleted the booking.com app, and it didn't help, but I noticed it did change the behavior of certain links.** For example, in this thread, if I click an external link that is posted, it opens a new window but then it doesn't load the site. It just hangs and gives me a blank screen, so that's not really an improvement. With Google search results links, links inside mail, etc. the behavior remains the same.

How can I find out if an app uses "deep linking?" I want to try deleting all those apps from my device and see if that fixes the problem.

**to be honest I didn't check how those links were behaving immediately before I deleted booking.com, so I can't be sure that deleting it made a difference.

[doublepost=1459182621][/doublepost]I installed 9.3 on my Air2 as well as ipad4 with no major issues. I have family members outside of my home that have iPhone 6+ another who has an Air 1 and when I asked if they were having problems they replied No.
I sure hope I can weather this issue as I feel for those with problems.

I've had this problem for about a month. Random links wouldn't work. Some I would have to click 5-10 times then it would work or lock up. However since yesterday it's been 99% worse.

I think this problem has been bubbling in the background for some time.

Well CNN just put a story about this on their front page and also tweeted it out to their 24 million followers. I'm happy to see this story is finally getting some serious attention. Interested to see how much longer Apple keeps quiet...
The main thing is that they actually work on it and get it figured out and resolved and communicate out when that actually happens.

For my part, untill the problem is solved, I went with Icab that works perfectly. As for my emai, I use Altamail. By unchecking "use external browser" all links will open perfectly inside Altamail app. No more headache.

So I read somewhere that booking.com may be an app causing this problem. Here's what I did, and it seems to be working.

1. Uninstalled booking.com app
2. Backed up iPhone
3. Restored my phone from recovery mode using iTunes.

My phone is still restoring so if this ends up not working I will advise. Rumor is there are other apps that may cause this problem too.

You need to read this thread before do that. You are wasting your time!

Found temporary fix if you are jailbroken, worked for me.

"edited com.apple.swcd.plist and set the value of com.apple.SharedWebCredentials to false"
https://twitter.com/paulpols/status/714496472272789504
not sure how this will affect it overall but links are clickable now.
Easy on jailbroken devices, already said...

Reply to your question: https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/Security/Reference/SharedWebCredentialsRef/

That's the point from the beginning:
wrong certificates. Apps can't verify itself or something like that (due to Apple problem, not apps, and not booking.com :D )

When the app is installed, the system downloads and verifies the site association file for each of its associated domains. If the verification is successful, the app is associated with the domain.

Very interesting from mac stories: https://www.macstories.net/news/a-mysterious-bug-is-causing-links-to-fail-on-ios/

If you can't open the link, here's the core:

In iOS 9 Apple introduced Universal Links, these allow app developers to associate their website and app, so links to the website can open the app up automatically if installed. For example, following a link to a Guardian article opens up the Guardian app to that specific article instead of their website.

App developers put an app association file on their website which lists which types of URLs the app can open. When you install an app, iOS downloads this associated file and updates your own database of what URLs your installed apps can open. The website and app listing in iTunes are linked by the developer - so it prevents anyone from hijacking your website with their app.

When you tap a link in iOS, the system looks through the database of installed apps supported URLs to see if it matches a pattern an installed app can handle. If nothing matches it opens it up as a standard app.

To fix the activation lock bug... for the certain older devices that were subject to the bug... not for all devices.
If my memory is good, The update for older device came earlier, soon after the new 9.3 update. Anyway, I'm installing it now, will see if it fixes issue. I remember waiting for the fix for my Iphone and downloaded it last week when it came out.

More and more it all seems to keep on lining up with what I brought up (in relation to universal links and all that) a couple of days ago at https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...lickable-anymore.1962471/page-9#post-22724195

Since I use iOS 9.3 (I was a public beta tester), in some betas links were not clickable in safari anymore. Beta 4 wasn't working, beta 5 was fine and now since beta 6 the problem got back.

Problem mostly exist when I try to google something from the search bar in safari. When I then try to click on a search result, safari dont respond and start to freeze. Then the app is closing and when I try it again, it freezes again.

I hoped on a solution with the official release of 9.3, however its still present. Its super annoying and I can't find a solution.

I already tried to delete data from safari and also did a hard reset.

Also problem seems to exist in Chrome and whatsapp as well (when someone sends me a link).

Who knows a solution?
[doublepost=1459188930][/doublepost]I have the same problem on iOS 9.2.1 on my iPad. My iPhone works fine. The problem appeared around March 25.

I have iphone 6s plus. This is now happening to me since upgrading to 9.3. The phone is border line useless for me know. Every link I press locks up the app, (safari, tweetbot, mail, chrome, etc).

I am going to try to restore to 9.2.1 and see if that helps. Apple better get their head out of their A$$es and fix this. It's a huge problem.
Confirm this also
