I'm going to put in another vote for beta 6 today. Gives them plenty of time to load a final release on the new phones, but put another version in our hands so there can be a small day 1 OTA if needed to squash any other minor bugs.

I agree with you guys about b6 should be out today.

If it doesn't happen today, then it's safe to assume that it won't happen until 9/9 GM. that's 34 days of beta 5.

we'll find out in a couple of hours!

Sorry guys but been working with engineers on some bugs and they told me yesterday the GM has been signed off on and has gone to be burned on new devices that dont exist yet. They said all bugs we are working on are now for 9.01 and 9.1. You wont see another beta....just a GM on Sept 9.

Are you an Apple employee? If so, I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be writing stuff like that on the interwebs.

Good point. It's been 14 says since the last beta. If the event does take place on the 9th of September, that'll be 34 days since beta 5. Hopefully, we'll see the sixth beta today and then they'll have another 20 days to work on the final release. We can hope!
And something like a month would be fairly consistent with how long the last beta was around for when it comes previous x.0 versions and their betas.

True but I'm afraid the past has nothing to do with the present. Beta 5 might have had less issues to fix that when comparing to iOS 8 beta 5.

If it's not released today, there's an even higher chance it won't be released next week.

My information below is based on the event taking place on the 9th of September:

If beta 6 is released today, that'll, as I've already said, give Apple another 20 days to get the GM ready.
If beta 6 is released next Thursday, that'll only give Apple 13 days to get the GM ready.

So in my opinion, no beta 6 today, no more beta's.

But as always, no-one knows, we'll find out in less than four hours.

THIS.
If 9/9 keynote and GM. Then beta 5 will be 34 days old. Very typical.

for iOS8, final beta went 36 days
iOS7, was 26 days
iOS6 was 37 days
iOS5 was 34 days

If we get a beta next week, then the final beta will be a mere 20 days old, not impossible, but atypical.

A new El Capitan beta was already released yesterday. They wouldn't release another one a day later unless there was a serious bug.

It's not that it doesn't have anything to do with it as much as the present can certainly be different, but the past can give some indications if something might be more or less typical (not to say it will or won't happen or is even necessarily more or less likely to happen).

I wish Apple would put out a release schedule for their betas.
There's a good reason for them not to, so that people don't try to hold them up to some unnecessary expectations. Things should be done in relation to when they are ready, not some arbitrary dates.
