I think I got lucky. Reserved a 64G 3G at the Apple store near me on 05-12-10. I received the email to pick it up on 05-13-10. I swore I would not buy one, but I just couldn't hold out.....

To those who have received the e-mail saying the iPad comes in, what time of day do you get it?

I am with everyone that I am almost just done with wanting one.

My email from the Boylston St. Boston Flagship store came at 1PM.

One word about email timing:

I THINK my email was sent as a result of new iPad shipment arriving at the store. BUT for those who received their emails in the morning, I'd tend to think those emails were sent as a result of someone who did not pick up their reservations, which then goes to the next in line.

I reserved a 16GB 3G for a gift on 5/2 in Charlotte NC. Still no email. I checked with them last weekend and all they said was you are still on the list.

Don't feel bad, i'm waiting, reserved a 16g 3g on 5/3, (charlotte, NC) so I'm behind you, still waiting, 3-5 days was what it I was originally told. Now i'm 10 business days deep.

Now, the poor kid that took the reservation has nothing to do with the global allocation of iPads, not to mention that production is being ramped up for other countries, so Apple is likely to having to dip into non-US production to fill the US orders. Its pretty obvious that the demand spike for the 3g was unexpected (likely) with the majority of the spike in the 16g 3g model.

Additionally being in Charlotte, NC being its probably a smaller market they might not get the same amount of allocation as a larger NYC or SF bay market. I'm pretty sure that Apple can see the demand for the models by market and feel confident they are chipping away at the reserved orders as soon as they can.

i'm still bummed I don't have one in my hand but it will be worth the wait, this is a game changing product IMHO. Great thread... ESS

P.S. Best Buy is probably very far down on the reseller list to get iPads

I reserved a 16 3g on 5/4. Still waiting.

Got Impatient

Ordered online from Apple Store on 5/11.

Shipped Today, be here on Friday.

Moral of story..order online!

I know u want to walk out of the store with the shinny white bag and show off to everyone (I know I do) but if you want one just order online. I havent heard anyone reserve a 16 3g and get it under 14 days.

But if I get my email before friday I might just go and pick it up.:)

Hey guys, i just receive my email today. i would say about 10 days guys almost two weeks. i would say 7 to 10 days. . finally now i cant enjoy my ipad

Went to the local apple store here, (South Shore) where I reserved a 32GB 3G on Sunday the 9th and asked them today about where on the wait list I was etc. No one could tell me what number I was, but also they said it wouldn't matter as they don't know how many they get in each day, they just kind of come in. They also said the wait is around 10 days.

I went into the Stonestown (SF, CA) store to ask about a 16G 3G model two weeks ago.

The "genius" said he only had 32G 3G models.

When I asked him when they might be getting more stock, he offered to put me on the email waiting list.

I show him my ID to let him copy my info correctly. He asks me to check that he got my email address correctly, and yes he did.

So I go home and get the email that evening that I am on the waiting list for a 16G WI-FI model.

I couldn't figure out how to change the order and ended up just canceling it and making an on-line order.

I haven't been checking every day, but I haven't seen many people coming out of the store with an iPad. But my online order came today.

Now I am looking at a 3-4 week delivery time for a camera connecting dongle.

I put myself on the list on Sat at my local Apple store. I could have put myself on the list in couple of other stores, but I figured, hey, I can wait to give them my $630+tax + the price of the Apple case. $700 is a lot of money for something that is essentially a toy. But I gave up when many of my friends and colleagues got them.....I guess pier pressure.

I checked with Best Buy and they told me that they get theirs randomly by a third party who delivers them by Fedex and they have no idea or no control when they would get them. It could happen any day, any morning or afternoon. They (BestBuy) said to just check daily or sometimes several times a day. That is too much for me, I have other things in life. I'd like to get an IPAD 3g I guess, but I am not going to lose sleep over it.

I just hope Apple does not release a new model come Xmas for $200 less. Remember like they pulled that trick with lowering prices for iphone? At least early adopters got gift cards then for $200.

I wouldn't worry about that. A company doesn't market a device as having an "unbelievable price" and have constrained supply of said device for months to only to cut the price.

Yeah, none here in Los Angeles. My dumb but went to Best Buy in OC on 5/14 and thought I could just pick up a 32gb wifi+3g. That was short lived. So I called the nearest apple store and they had 16gb in, but nothing else. Thinking I could just drive back to Los Angeles and pick one up was a mistake. Soon as I call when I get home, everywhere is sold out. Yes, I DID NOT DO MY HOMEWORK !!! So, I rushed to call the OC store back and "the guy says they still have some 16gb wifi but he cant hold and cant tell me how many they have. He had to tell the same thing to a guy in china who was sending his brother in from 50 miles out so he had to tell me the same thing"... Whatever:mad::mad::mad::mad:... So I hop back in my car at 4pm. A little LA traffic and a I make it 50 miles in a painful 2.5 hours. Gotta louv 405 traffic on FRI. Guess what, THEYRE ALL SOLD OUT . I literally wanted to drink myself to sleep and make my own Genius Bar fun :p;):(. Needless to say, Im on the wait list at like 3 stores. Got emails for 16, 32, 64 wifi and 16 3g. Its funny cause I reserved for each model, wifi and 3g, under same email but only got those emails to my account. Maybe they cancel some out, i dunno. But we'll see what happens. Did that on 5/14 at 7pm so its been dreadful 3 days. lol. If anyone hears of anything close, PM me or post back. I cant say im unwilling to drive....

Had a similar experience in San Diego, I was told by an Apple Store far away from actual San Diego that they did have some WiFi 32 GB iPads, since my car broke down I had to use the public transport and had to travel from a store which didn't have any to one that did, when after a very long trip on the tram and bus I anctiouslly ran to the Apple Store to find the Apple guy telling
me with a smile that there were no more left and with a bigger smile he answered my question "I just called an you told me you had many" his smile still on he said "o yes they sell very fast"
Was very pissed that day too!

Apple Store employees are not even supposed to say the exact number of how many iPad they have in stock (20/50/100 or whatever), they are actually only allowed to say yes or no to in stock or out of stock.

so if it sold out between the time you called and the time you arrived, it sold out quickly... and you were just unlucky in that you didn't get there fast enough

I went to the Apple store on Saturday. I reserved a 16GB Wifi model. It showed up today. Only took 3 days.

They said the average time is about a week for in store reservations.

Finally got my iPad. Reserved on 5/9 picked up today. 32GB 3G. South Shore, MA. Got the email at about 10:30. Peeking in the back room, it looked like they had about 50 other iPads. I thought it was curious that they asked me which model I reserved instead of comparing it to a list.

Yea I would have been furious.... Seems like So-Cal is receiving less shipments for some reason. I do know that I'm #4 on one wait list at one store. Only reason I know is because my store has one designated rservations specialist. He said since last shipment, I'm the fourth person to reserve. I almost shed a tear. Lol.

I reserved a 32GB iPad at the Forum Shops store in Las Vegas back on the 8th and was just notified it's available, so I'll pick it up tonight after work. However, I ordered a 16GB model online a few days ago, and it'll most likely be here on Friday. If anyone local is craving the 16GB and hasn't been able to get one but would like to buy mine when it arrives, just send me a PM on here.

Every time i get the urge to complain about I4 thru Orlando, I always think.... it could be worse. The I4 parking lot is better than the 405. Slightly.

However, the Turnpike Construction - i'm having flashbacks to the mess that was the 101/405/134 construction mess for years. It's like reliving that nightmare every trip "to town". Ye gads.

Hope you get the iPad soon - and not on a Friday afternoon!

So they asked you which one you reserved? I just got my email saying my iPad was in, 32gig 3G but I kind of changed my mind and just want a 16gig 3G. Do you think I can switch it up? And by the way I reserved it on Friday 5/14 and got email today, 5/18 in Orange County.

Yeah they asked me. All of the ipads in the back room had stickers that said reserved on them, and they have a spot to write a last name or something in. But they appeared to be all blank. Couldn't hurt to try.

I'm in Simi Valley and reserved it on 9th. 32gn 3g. I want to switch it for the 64gb 3g. I made a second reservation and no one told me that I can only reserve one.

Got the glorious email today!

....it finally came, after 15 days of waiting. email arrived about lunch time, if that means anything to anyone

Nothing mentioned about bringing ID or printing off the email.

iMad for the iPad :)

CoryBoyUSA = LuckyBoyUSA :)

Did you say in an earlier post that you had another 32GB/3G pad reserved at another store also? Can you let me know if you get that email. Would love to take your place on that one! I'm thinking the 16GB is not going to be enough storage for me otherwise I'd 'jump all over it' as I haven't heard back anything from the Town Square location yet (Since 5/8) on my 32GB.

Yep, reserved a 32GB at Fashion Show, too. I'll let you know if I get an email. I reserved at 16GB at Town Square on the 8th and haven't heard from them. So I was totally shocked to get the Forum Shops email today :) I'm trying to get iTunes to recognize it now so I can set it up.
