Best Buy Gets the Sale! Apple Store Loses :)

Yep, reserved a 32GB at Fashion Show, too. I'll let you know if I get an email. I reserved at 16GB at Town Square on the 8th and haven't heard from them. So I was totally shocked to get the Forum Shops email today :) I'm trying to get iTunes to recognize it now so I can set it up.

I went by Best Buy (on a whim) on my way home from work...walked up to customer service and said "any 3G iPads?"...which I was floored to hear "no..oh wait..yeah (1) 32GB/3G....you want it...last one for awhile I hear"

Ring it up Geek Squad Boy!! LOL Hooking it up to iTunes as I type right now!

AHHHHH...SWEET VICTORY :) But thanks Cory for having my back!! Enjoy yours!

I ordered my 64gig 3G on Tuesday of this week and on Wednesday (yesterday) morning I got the email telling me it was available . I picked it up last night. One day of waiting. The employees were amazed when I told them I only waited one day. They aren't selling any to walk-ins, only to people who have pre-ordered.

I reserved a 32 gig 3G on Monday the 10th at The Syracuse Carousel Apple store and called nearly every day regardless of the fact I would receive an email and was told they were suppose to receive a shipment by Friday (the 14th and so I went up Friday and they did not have it although they DID have 64 gig wifi and 64gig wifi+3G so I decided to suck it up and spend the extra 100.. So Idk if they filled all of the pre-orders but mine was technically a walk in.

Got the 16gb wifi today. Got my email at 11am this morn and picked it up about 6pm. Just for sh*ts and giggles, I went into the store and asked if they're all sold out. HE says yes, all you can do is get on a waiting list sir, might take a month. hahahahahahah." I said well, can I have mine now then, I just wanted to see if you had any others on stock. He laughed. But, I did see a ton in the back..about 25.. and he said the got stock of all wifi's but limited 3g. All went to people on list. Im figuring they're getting stock every Tuesday of whatever Papa Jobs sends them. lol. Oh well. This will do until I get my 32gb 3g.

Any more news of people getting their waitlisted iPads from the Apple Stores? What's been the typical wait times? It seems like other than the lucky few who had one show up in a few days, the rest of us are still waiting.

FWIW, put on waitlist on May 8 at Hillsdale, San Mateo CA for a 32G model. The folks at the store all have told me they have no way of knowing where one is on the waitlist nor what the typical times have been. I kind of find that hard to believe.

I reserved a 16GB Wifi and 32GB Wifi+3G on Thursday May 13th at Coconut Point Apple Store and got the notification to pick up the 16GB this morning.

Now I just need to wait for the 32GB 3G to show up.

Hopefully it will be soon, I'm in Canada and have family bringing them back for me.

I reserved a 16gb wifi for my wife this morning at the Marlton, NJ store and got notification that it was available for pick up within 25 minutes of getting the initial "we'll contact you" email. Went to the store and bought it. The clerk that helped us said they got a decent shipment in so while there I put in a reservation for two more. Went to lunch and within an hour got notification that the other two were ready so we got them as well today. Might still have stock if you are local to the area (about 25 minutes from Philly).

I reserved a 64g 3G on Sunday (5/17) at the Forum Shops in Vegas. Guy said it could be 2 or 3 days. I said, "Or longer" and he smiled and nodded.

I figure sometime next week.

3 business days at the flagship San Francisco store for a 64g, 3G model. Pickin it up today! Yay!!!!

Denver, CO iPad stock

Reserved 32GB 3G model in both the Park Meadows Apple store and Aspen Grove Apple store in South Denver, Colorado on Monday 5/17. Both expected at least a week wait, although I did grab an Apple case that just came in the Park Meadows store.

Happen to be searching stock on the Best Buy site this morning around 11am and found out that the Park Meadows Best buy just got stock of a 32GB 3G and was showing avaliable. I was about 10 minutes away so drove over there and grabbed it as it was the only 3G they had. So luckly only a couple of day wait.

Best buy is definately worth checking as you can see their real time inventory online and if you are close, you might be able to get over there and snag one. They told me the moment they come in, you have maybe an hour before they sell out again. They did have a couple of 16GB Wifi's left though.

Waiting in ATL

Got on the notify list for a 32GB / 3G at North Point Apple Store on 5/7. Went this past Saturday and spoke to one of the associates about adding myself to the 64GB / 3G list. I was told it really would not matter. I could do it if I wanted, but he didn't think a major difference since I was already on the list on 5/7 for the other model. I should have put myself on the list for both on 5/7.

The folks at the store did mention that the wait should be shorter than the online 5-10 wait. If they are counting that as 5-10 business days then they are right. I'm on day 8 now. Holding out hope it comes in before some upcoming travel.

Picked up a 32GB 3G at Best Buy in Attleboro, MA. They had two left in stock when I left at 4:30pm today. Boston area people, might be worth a try if you are wanting this model.

I scored one as well. Their online tracking is remarkable accurate, when the salespeople give a darn. I am waiting until after dinner to fire up the Pad and to cancel my online order.

Sweet victory indeed!

I remember I reserved my second iPad at another apple store last Friday. And I received an email from apple today. I had to cancel that reservation..

Reserved a 32 gb 3G iPad on the 8th of May, have been waiting patiently because the guy at the Apple store said "it will probably be 2 to 10 days." Well it's past the 10 days so I called them today and they told me I am 14th in the queue and that it should take 1-2 more days. Anyone else know how long it took them to get from around 14th on the list to the magical email?
BTW reserved at the Schaumburg IL Woodfield Apple store 10 min. away from me if that helps anyone.

Don't feel bad, i'm waiting, reserved a 16g 3g on 5/3, (charlotte, NC) so I'm behind you, still waiting, 3-5 days was what it I was originally told. Now i'm 10 business days deep.

Got me email 5/19 that my 16g 3G from my 5/3 in store reservation came into the south park store (Charlotte nc) 5/19. That makes a 13 business day wait using the in store reservation. Seems it would have been faster just to order from the online store. Oh well. Live and learn.

I reserved a 16g 3g at bethesda row on may 4th and was notified that it was in stock for pickup on 4/19.

As much as I wanted to buy from an Apple Store, and as much as I loath Best Buy, I picked up my 64GB iPad 3G last night at a BB. I do have my name on a waiting list for that model at Nashville's Apple Store...guess I'll cancel that today.

This is going to be a double post in 2 threads but im just trying to get the word out.

I bought a 32GB 3G iPad from best buy this morning. Best Buy in Mayslanding, NJ. They have all the wifi models but only the 32GB in 3G. They still have some in stock. I cancelled my apple online order this morning.

Domain in Austin?

Anyone have anything to report for the Domain store in Austin? I reserved a 16gb 3g on the 13th at about 11:30 and haven't heard anything yet.

BestBuy in Atlanta

Looks like the Perimeter BestBuy had some 3g in stock earlier today (online now sadly shows they are gone before I got off work and was able to make it over). I am seeing some BestBuys tweeting when they have them available. Anyone aware of the Tweet Ids for any of the BestBuy stores in the Atlanta area that we might follow. My searches are not finding any GA stores having Twitter accounts.

Got my at my Bestbuy

Well I made a call to my local Apple store and they told me the wait is another 7 to 10 days, so I went to my local BB and talked to a friendly customer service rep there. He had one 64G 3G model waiting as a replacement for some customer and the customer did not call back within a required time and it was mine!!!!! Well I wanted a 16G version, but I guess with 18-month-no-interest which BB currently has on any purchase over $499, I ate the price of the 64G 3G model. So far enjoying it, now if I could find a place that actually has the Apple Ipad case in stock.......

This is exactly why I wanted to buy from best buy. Buying stuff with 18 mo interest free is like stealing. Definitely made the 64gb a no brainer. Also, the reward zone...makes the purchase extra sweet.

Yes... like stealing...

Untill 50% of the people using it forget that its 18 months DEFERRED interest which means that if its not 100% paid off in 18 months you pay 18 months worth of interest at once.

And then they call up screaming and complaining that their life is now ruined...

:-/

Working for retail credit cards has warped me forever.

DC area still slow

I had reserved a 16 GB 3G at the Clarendon, VA store (suburban DC) on May 1st. Finally got the notification email on May 16th or 17th (I forget which).

People have to work to be that stupid though. Every statement explains the deferred interest amount and drop dead payoff date. Maybe it's because I'm literate and read my bills that I have no sympathy for people who miss this stuff?
