Let me make sure I understand you correctly. Are you just referring to files in general from external devices? Because that's already possible. I have a few apps like Nplayer, FileBrowser and LumaFusion... I'm sure there are other apps out there.

But has it really been 20 mins since the last time you checked? 😆
Right but I think the only way iPadOS can read and write to files is to have them stored in the directory within the memory that is inaccessible to the end user. Are you able to take the LumaFusion library and move it to an external drive? Then, are you able to open that library from the external drive and continue editing without copying it back to the internal drive?

Also... it may have been 18 minutes. 😂

My ship date is May 21-27 iPad Pro 12.9 128gb wifi silver. Has anyone had their card charged yet? I would have thought they would at least do a pre authorization but I haven't got a charge yet
yes 1 AED charged for authoraization on my card after few minutes of pre order.

Apple UK
Ipad Pro 12.9 1TB Space Grey
Ordered at 1.09pn 30th April (after many failed attempts)
Delivery due JUNE 16th. ... arghhhhh

Cue pointless personal trivia — still in shock at spending almost £1800
Infact hubby spent nearly 1k yesterday himself on a layzboy power recliner so, we are now poor. But very happy 😃

Horribly frustrating. 10 minutes of my bag being emptied every time I tried in both Safari and the Apple Store app on my iPhone and my husbands'... The next 5 minutes were of us trying to pay and getting errors, every time o_O

The first attempts gave me a May 21 - May 28 date of delivery.
Next a May 27 - June 6.
And finally it ended up like this:

12.9, Space Grey, 2tb, wi-fi+cellular, not engraved.
Ordered was completed at 13:16. And my delivery date: June 2 - June 16 in the UK.

I am really hoping I can get it a little bit earlier. Seems and awfully long wait time, but everything considered I'm just happy my order is not going to be delivered in July 💀
My experience was almost the same at apple uk. Initially got a May date, then many failed and frustrating attempts later I got June the 16th.. pooper!

MOST OF THEM WHO FACED FAILED ATTEMPT WHILE ORDERING ARE PLACING AN ORDER FROM APPLE DEVICE. I USED SAMSUNG AND ORDER PLACED IN A VERY 1ST MINUTE OF ORDER WITHOUT ANY HICUPS OR DELAYS. SOMETIME SAMSUNG IS GOOD 🤣😆

Not entirely sure why you would want to take the LumaFusion library to an external drive. But, if you asking me if I can work entirely from an external drive... the answer is yes. I just have to link the folders I want to use in the external drive for LumaFusion to access it.

Apple Germany

had trouble with the shopping bag ending empty again and again, too. Eventually got it to order, and still within the first delivery round.

12.9 wifi 256gb. May 21-28. Order overview says May 28, though, no range.

will update when it is here. Current shop delivery says July for new orders. 😳

Size of files. I only bought the 256 iPad and I only intend for it to be a field editing rig. My Mac mini is still my primary editing machine. As such I want to be able to take the editing library from my Mac mini, put it on an external drive, and be able to select it as the library I’m using in FCPX on the iPad if such thing becomes available.

yes it does. you can access them via archives app
You mean files app? That’s not what I’m trying to do. In macOS I can move a Final Cut library to an external drive and still open it in Final Cut without having to copy said library back to the internal storage of my Mac mini. That’s what I’m trying to find out on the iPad, if I can preform the same function.

My ship date is May 21-28 but I've only been charged for the Pencil as it is already prepping to ship.

I'm so stoked to try out my very first iPad and what better introduction to the iPad than the M1 series. I'm incredibly excited.

if you can export LumaFusion projects to FCPX, I’m sure you can apply your own workflow to it. I suggest you give it a try when you get the new iPP

Apple ship dates are often conservative. Most people get it sooner than the initial date.

You're not kidding. I hadn't looked at my Apple store order status or my emails yet this morning and the Apple Pencil slated to arrive Monday was already in my yard. Now I know the Apple pencil has been around and there's plenty of stock so there's no surprise there. I'm just glad that the shipping speed proved to ship faster than anticipated. Also, we are not up against Black Friday or Christmas shipping atmosphere like we normally deal with when the iPhone's tend to be shipped.

FINGERS CROSSED EVERYONE GETS THEIRS CLOSER TO THE 21st!

Now, what to do with this pencil... guess I should check it out.

Had three windows open John Lewis,Apple & EE.
Called EE first to buy on contract but it was the deal i eventually ended up with.
I wanted to pay a £1000 payment, but they were not taking Money down so i tried JL & they're website was saying out of stock & could't order.Tried Apple & could't put in Bag with Apple Care+ or without Apple Care+.
So called EE again & added it to my account.(stressful or what)All in 15 minutes.
No one off fee.
I’m in the UK
Good Luck Everyone 🐾

I had problems with the "add to cart" button being greyed out. I added an engraving, deleted it, and the "add to cart" button became active.

I don't think the dates are conservative. I think the dates often come in earlier due to people who can't get payment methods verified or order cancellations freeing up spots in the queue.

I know my wife decided I should snag her an 13" M1 MBP instead of the 2021 IPP today. So unless she changes her mind I'm going to cancel her IPP order which will free up a 12.9 in the queue for the next buyer.

No Apple has a habit of under-promising and over-delivering. If the factory is able to crank out another batch of iPads they weren't expecting, Apple is not going to sit on them until the next group is up to ship them. Plus, if you meet or beat shipment dates the customer would be more pleased than receiving it even a day late. Apple is allll about the customer experience. When it comes to launches, Apple goes with the more conservative production number the factory quotes and sets dates from there.

Don't get me wrong, the cancelations and payment issues certainly help but with the sheer number of people who end up getting bumped up every year to a sooner delivery date that can't be the only cause.

Agreed. I seem to recall being quoted 2-3 weeks for the iPhone 6 Plus and getting it on Monday after release.
