For the Australian market, only the 12.9" 128GB (wifi and cellular) are available for May delivery (24th - 28th). All other 12.9" models are expected in June (1 - 16) at this stage. Like iamMacPerson said, all 11" models are still available for May delivery (24 - 28) in Australia.

I am not sure if Apple is surprised by the popularity of 1TB and 2TB models (at least at this early stage), but I am personally astonished. I want 16GB RAM models too but, I personally cannot justify 50% to 80% price hike (of course, that increased the capacity too - which, I don't need at this stage). Maybe things will look different once the new iPadOS is launched and iPads can run MacOS apps or something along those lines. I would be interested to see Boot Camp-like (but improved) system where the user can decide to boot-up their iPad with iPadOS or MacOS. That way, folks can turn their iPads (with keyboard) into a touch-screen laptop like a Surface Pro.

Apple likely manufactures the 1-2TB configurations at lower quantities versus lower storage tiers so quicker sellout.

I waited to late to order through Apple and I don't want to wait. So I preordered through T-Mobile.

12.9 Pro, Space Gray, 512GB, w/ cellular

May 21-28

I ended up ordering an 11" one for my fiancé. Both will ship May 21-28

12.9" Pro, Space Gray, 512GB, w/cellular
11" Pro, Space Gray, 256GB, w/cellular

Doesn’t apple have a history of products arriving on or before earlier date (like before 5/21)?

Yes, I just noticed that too. So, for some that means they will be seeing a July delivery date. Yikes. It will be interesting to follow to see if these delivery estimates stay the same or move up.
There is no way I could wait that long. That's why I did not order with Apple and ordered through T-Mobile. Their shipping dates are still May 21-28.

I ordered the 12.9” Pro, 512 GB, Wifi only, Space Grey, on April 30, around 9:30 AM ADT.

The estimated shipping window was 3-4 weeks, with no actual dates given. The estimated delivery date was given as June 4-10.

They will ship them a few days before to arrive on the 21st. The mobile carriers will do that sometimes as well.
Umm.. Apple is very strict on when customers receive their launch items. Been through a couple iPhone launches. In most cases they arrive at the day its released... especially if you ordering directly from Apple. Whereas ordering from non-Apple retailers... then there's chances customers get it early.

At least, thats what I'm betting on with Best Buy. I have a May 21st date, but customers who bought Airtags from them received there's two days earlier. It's 3 weeks in between pre-order to launch for iPad Pros and with Airtags it was only a week... I have a feeling Best Buy will ship them early (fingers cross).

The other side of that coin is, if supply is as uncertain as it seems, Apple may fill their orders first before other vendors. Vendors may end up delayed while Apple takes care of direct customers. Who knows for sure, time will tell I guess

Oh, most certainly. Apple prioritizes customers from their orders, but in my case.. I ordered mine ASAP from Best Buy. I doubt I’ll have to worry about mine being delayed . When I ordered from BB… I first received confirmation with no mention of a ship date. I wasn’t too concern, I just wanted to make sure my order was in. I even checked to see if they took the pre-authorization charge. Then 8 hours later they emailed me with a ship date.

I never saw a preauthorization on my card, although I ordered directly from Apple. That seems a bit odd. However, I can’t see any problems with the order, as far as I can tell when I log in. Maybe the preauthorization is only put on the card shortly before it is shipped, with the actual charge on the shipping date itself. I’m in Canada, btw.

That is odd. Normally a preauthorization charge is made to check the funds are there then after a couple of days it disappears. Maybe the process has changed.

I did see my Apple account balance drop down to $0.00 for a few days then go back up to the full amount. I’m assuming that was a pre authorization. 3 weeks to go!

It's about time to start the guessing game regarding timeline. This is only applicable to the US customers. If you're in the first wave like me, we should start to see movement on 5/17 or 18 if the 21st estimate is accurate. During those two days, we should get our card charged and the shipment status should move to preparing to ship. Then within 24 hours, the status should move to shipped. Depending on where these are coming from, either China or Lousiville, KY, you should be able to start tracking your package by the 19th. Some people start to see their package on UPS MyChoice during the preparing to ship phase. Don't freak out if yours is coming from China and it actually ships on the 19th. I had a new phone a couple years ago ship a day and a half before the launch day from China, and I received it on launch day. Here's hoping for sooner, but this timeline for every major launch has been predictable like clockwork for the past several year. Happy track stalking everyone!

I checked my order status, and its says “We have everything we need to complete your order”, with the delivery date still given as June 4-10.

I should mention that I didn’t check to see whether there was the authorization charge right after I ordered fairly early in the day on Friday. I only checked it today, after seeing that others had mentioned it in this thread. Today, there is no evidence of any preauthorization.

It seems that delivery times take about two weeks to Canada, and I assume that it will be sent from China. I have standard delivery, and I have no idea who Apple uses as a courier in Canada.

Got the order in instantly when it was possible. Took me 5 seconds to click it through. First it said 21-28th of May, now it says 28th only.

12,9" -> Cellular -> 128GB -> Spacegray!

EDIT: Scratch that. Found a retailer in Sweden which will have it in stock on the 21st, so I took the liberty of increasing the ssd...

12.9" -> Cellular -> 256GB -> Spacegray!

Will be getting the Magic floating keyboard aswell. :)

So I just realized I might be on vacation when mine arrives. What should I do to have it held for a few days?

Those were fun days. But later on.. I found out it’s much better to have it held at UPS… that way I can just pick it up and not concern myself getting it delivered.

It most likely disappeared. With Apple… you can feel safe that when you order something, it successfully goes through. However, with Best Buy given no mention of a ship date on the first email, I was skeptical and wanted to be certain that all signs were in place for it to be shipped as scheduled.

When shipped. If it comes UPS, you can call or if have an account just ask for a reschedule or you can put on hold for pick up. If shipped directly from China you will need to select the International Option If calling.

Apple charge preauthorization on my Card right after the order. Maybe i think it was after 1 minutes of pre ordering
