My ship date is May 21-27 iPad Pro 12.9 128gb wifi silver. Has anyone had their card charged yet? I would have thought they would at least do a pre authorization but I haven't got a charge yet

No they won’t charge until it’s ready to ship. I have about $500 in gift cards redeemed on my account as well. It’s still there and won’t use it until it’s ready to ship. There is a ‘Pending’ charge of $0.00 on my debit card from the Apple Store though.

Nice. I was trying Apple, Amazon and Best Buy website a little around after 6AM PST and Amazon was the only site that was loading fast and smoothly on my iPad. Plus I think Best Buy had already sold out and Apple's shipping dates had slipped 2-4 weeks so Amazon it was.
Well, tbh... I have gift cards through Best Buy. And I wasn't going through different routes to get it. My original plan was to get 128gb, but I got the sold out message... a few times. So, I panicked and just got the 1TB model.. lol

Lol, for me it was 12.9 1TB 5G or bust. Color didn't matter. If everyone had been sold out, I would've just pre-ordered from Apple so at least I'm on the waiting list.

Amazon still has 128-512GB available for pre-order but I think they were out of 1TB and 2TB before lunch time.

Best Buy sure knows how to upsell haha. 256/Wifi/Silver/12.9 was my pick. I was flexible on the color but that’s it. Maaaybe I would have stretched to 512 but at that point I’d rather wait for the 256. I had Apple Gift Cards and an education discount to use.

i have 256gb storage on my iPad... and it's plenty. I know you mention you plan on doing video editing... but there's ton of reasonable external SSD drives.

I'm surprised at all the posts from people who got a config they didn't initially want, just to get something on launch day. Especially considering how expensive these things are. Get what you want and want what you get.
Please don't mistake me for not wanting mine. I came into the buying decision choosing between the 128gb, 256gb or 1TB. I honestly didn't care for the storage... if there was a way to buy 128gb with 16GBs RAM, I would have went that route.

But i'm really curious on Apple plans for iPadOS 15 and how it all ties with 16GB RAM. I mean, there's so much mystery behind it... first time Apple advertising RAM on the iPad and first time seeing double digit RAM. I initially tried to order 128GB, received a message it was sold out... which perhaps could of been an error. I was only 3 or 4 mins after the pre-order window open.

So, I decided why not. And yeah, it's expensive... but I'm looking forward to it.

Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2021) - 2TB - Space Gray (ordered through ATT) Expected to ship: Fri., May. 28, 2021 - Mon., Jun. 7, 2021.

I wonder which color is more popluar when I ordered space grey was hard to get silver had a lot more options in stock. Also ATT added back the option as I missed the first wave.

Gray is the way to go for me, as watching & editing HDR files is my main use. I can't wait to see how much better this iPad screen is compared to the Pro Display XDR

Although I'm anxious to see that Pro Display XDR... the RAM I'm more excited about. I'm kinda surprised we haven't seen any unboxing or first impressions today... looks like Apple is really keeping everything a mystery.

I sometimes wonder about the RAM. I've had situations where every spp was closed except one, and it still would "refresh" after a certain short amount of timeif put in the background.

iOS 12 was pretty good at RAM management. I barely had reloads there with 3-4GB RAM iPads.

iPadOS 13 and 14 just seem like they've got way more overhead now and memory management does feel borked. I rarely use split window but I've actually experienced occasions when one of the split windows reloaded. Plus Safari continuously crashing upon load requiring an iPad restart to finally work. I dunno, iPadOS just feels overly aggressive clearing up memory at times while not being aggressive enough at other times.

Silver/2TB/Cellular ordeer 5:12PDT. Would have been sooner, but the higher ed site didn't work and neither did the regular site, but the app did (mostly—still had the "an item is no longer availabile" issue. Time listed is the time stamp of the confirmation e-mail—sure seemed longer, but I did give myself 5 minutes to wake up before 5am. Delivery window is 6/9–6/23. I had to call to get the edu discount, but it wound up being $199 off rather than just the $100 the edu store listed, so I'm not complaining about that.

I planned on the 2TB, incidentally. I keep devices a few years normally. I'm upgrading a 2017 whose battery will soon really need replacement (only sort of needs it now, and, yes, just the battery would be a lot cheaper).

Oh 100% agree. Problem is iPadOS does not currently allow you to access libraries on external devices. This is an OS limitation, not a limitation of an application.

Let me make sure I understand you correctly. Are you just referring to files in general from external devices? Because that's already possible. I have a few apps like Nplayer, FileBrowser and LumaFusion... I'm sure there are other apps out there.

Wow just logged in and saw this.
But has it really been 20 mins since the last time you checked? ?
