Oh, I was trying my search wrong. I originally tried searching using the term “new iPad Pro”, and didn’t see much of anything, only 4 older models.

Now, when I redid my search by just entering “iPad”, it brings up everything, including links to the new iPad Pro. It seems that all models are available for preorder.

I wish that I had thought of this earlier. I’m not going to cancel my Apple order now, though, since I placed that fairly early on April 30, and would be surprised to get anything faster from Best Buy at this time.

When I placed my order, it said, “ships in 3-4 weeks”, delivery date June 4-10. Now, it no longer actually gives a shipping date, only a final delivery date, which remains unchanged.

I ordered directly from Apple, and it didn’t occur to me that I might actually get it faster from Best Buy. It seems that a few people posting to this thread have actually had better luck from Best Buy, a bit puzzling, since I would have assumed that Apple would prioritize their own pre-orders.

I checked Best Buy (Canada) just now, and there doesn’t seem to be any way of preordering the new iPad Pro at this time. I assume that if they had any for preorder, it would have only been in the first few hours anyway.
What is the final date they are giving you? I am in Canada as well.

My estimated delivery date is from June 4-10, gagee. I ordered around 9:30 AM ADT on April 30th.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there isn’t any slippage of my delivery time. Someone earlier in this thread indicated that slippages were only affecting orders directly from Apple, and not those from Best Buy.

I'm guessing Apple has x million iPads estimated available for initial release and they divided that into Apple Store online preorders, Apple Store retail stock, and orders from other retailers and carriers.

After that first wave, I expect that's when Apple starts prioritizing preorders for their online store so once initial allocations for retailers are sold out, it'll probably be a while before they can restock.

In any case, June 4-10 is pretty good timing for WWDC anyway. :)

I can live with a June 4-10 delivery date, as long as it doesn’t slip further. I admit to being a bit disappointed that I didn’t get an earlier date, considering that I ordered so early, but that’s just the way it goes, I guess.

Depending on how quickly Apple can ramp up production and Mini-LED supply, you could still get it sooner. Every time I've preordered/backordered from Apple, they've usually gotten the device to me earlier than their estimate.

That’s good to hear, rui no onna. I know that Apple has a good reputation, and it’s good to know that reputation extends to their delivery time estimates as well.

I admit that I’ve always been a bit jaded when it comes to delivery estimates, mainly in part due to my experiences with a large and well known PC manufacture. Whenever I’ve ordered a PC from them in the past, it’s been late, usually by a couple of weeks, and I was actually one of the lucky ones, since others ordering from the same manufacturer have received their orders a month or more late.

Part of my concern about delivery slippage this time also boils down to the Mini-LED, which is new technology, and whether any problems arise during this final stage of production.

I preordered 3 days late from Apple store and my arrival date was 31st June to 14th July for 12.9 256 GB wifi. Then I found 256 GB wifi back in stock on Amazon so I ordered it. Now delivery date is 1-9th June.

I ordered in the afternoon of the 30th on Best Buy and I just got the same notification above as well as a ship date of 5/21. I’m shocked considering supply was supposed to be constrained

Most people were preordering from Apple Store. :)

It seems to me both Best Buy and Amazon still have launch allocations for select configurations. Mind, I can see why just waiting on Apple might be better than trying to get a launch shipment from another retailer. That gives time to see what's announced on WWDC.

Which model did you order? And when you ordered on the 30th... did you get two emails? One for confirmation of the order and hours later with the shipment date?

Yup. And I think this email either shows that they have stock on hand or Apple is shipping them stock now. Because they have to get stock early in order to ship to customers to have it on release date.

You take this literally? I got the same email.
Well, let's take a step back. I'm not sure how your email process went. But I initially received an email informing me that my order went through successfully. Then hours later, I get a "ship by date of 21st"... I take this as I'm in the first wave of shipment.

However, ship by date could mean.. they will ship it by the 21st and I could get on the 24th or something. Now, this email acknowledging that the launch date is on 21st. And by Best Buy mentioning this... I could have it on launch date.

A clarification of definitions for the Anal Retentive types (me) would be useful.
What is a release date? Product ready to be ordered rather than preordered? Ship date I get. Shipped from where? The factory in China? Best Buy: Do they drop ship (sent directly from Apple in China to the purchaser) or from their own warehouses? Depending on who does what to whom, we get the variety of 'delivered to me' dates.

I think that is the $64,000.00 question.

I know you didn’t ask me, but I ordered a 12.9” 128GB Silver Wi-Fi model from Best Buy as soon as preorders opened on the morning of the 30th. I received both a confirmation email and an email later stating the shipment date was 05/21. Earlier I got another email stating that the release date had been updated, but it still said the same 05/21 ship date.

I am hoping we get it before then, though. I am very impatient. :D

I was trying to add Apple Care+ to my current order and couldn't, but they let me know the 12.9 iPad could ship this upcoming week, but no later than the 19th-20th.
