Ok tried to go the BundleBox route last night. Got an email this morning. Here's an excerpt.

Guess I have to wait. Not too bothered, just means I'll save some cash really.

Did you put your Bundlebox address as the billing address as well?

You pricing is a little out...using bundle box you can grab a 32Gb WIFI pad for £490 all in. While I agree the UK price will be less than this I doubt it will be by very much, maybe £50.

My own calculations for a 32 GB Wifi using Bundlebox are in the region of 550-560 pounds all inclusive. How did you get 490, considering that at present exchange rate, 630 dollars US is 408 pounds and once you add VAT (not including shipping costs), you get to over 480 pounds? I am still banking on the 16 GB Wifi being 389-399, 32 GB being 459-469 pounds, and so forth. It could be slightly less than 100 pounds differential, but if you import it through fully-tax paying systems such as Bundlebox, the price differential is closer to 100 than to 50 pounds...

Just have a look at the bundlebox web site...

http://www.bundlebox.com/great_deals/

search for ipad and you can see what other people have been paying.

I think that site just shows purchases made through 'Buy For Me'. It only includes US shipping - not shipping to the UK - that will extra ££ once the item has hit your Bundlebox.

Shiping from Apple to BundleBox is free, so that shipping cost is to send it to the UK.. I agree it does seem small though.

From looking at the latest Apple prices on the new MBPs, I think those prices are seeming increasingly optimistic. Sort of in line with the old prices, but certainly a fair bit under the new. I think we'll be looking more in the region of £449, £529 and £599.

Ah well, I've had a day to consider the news, and although I nearly caved in and ordered from that chap on facebook who buys US itunes cards (he's doing iPad orders, genuine bloke from what I know), I am still sitting tight.

I am going to spend my time having a gander at data deals as they are announced for the 3G version. I've saved all the money I can reasonably save towards my iPad, and now I'll just wait.

If May the 10th goes by and there's another delay though I will be spitting tacks. I've allowed Apple to change the goalposts twice already without losing Teh Faith, but now there is a firm date I'd be even more jarred off if they went back on it a third time.
I'm afraid I can't say I would not buy from Apple again if they did, as they have me over a barrel re: the accessibility for folks with crap eyesight - i.e. they're the only hardware and software company whose products are accessible right out of the box with no extra stupidly high charges from third party developers and I need that accessibility for certain things. But I would be even more disappointed in them if I got let down a third time. But let's tune into Reality FM here - it's not like they really give a fig if I am. At the end of the day I either have to vote with my wallet or just suck it up.

Oh Apple, you are such a cruel and unpredictable mistress. I know you're bad for me but I just can't give you up.

I doubt this will be the case, as the 3G models would in this case venture deep into full blown laptop pricing territory, which will cause a sales disaster in Europe. I wouldn't compare MBP pricing to iPad pricing, they are in completely different categories. At any rate, May 10 is not that far away in absolute terms and, once again, if you are on the lookout for a 3G model, I strongly doubt you will have your hands on one in the UK before that date....

I tend to agree with this. The Wifi version i think will be in line with the US pricing (plus the 8-10% apple tax). 3G i dont know esp since all the networks say they will stock it.

Does anyone think we'll be able to pick which network we use and chop and change depending which is offereing the best deal on a monthly basis?

Id assume so , maybe each carrier will provide a activation fee to the network so they are making a bit of ££ each time you change over network so they arent just charging the tarriff.

I ordered yesterday as well, havent had my confirmation email from apple yet but the order looks ok so far and bank has authorised payment.

I put my own address in billing address though, with 00000 as zip code so we shall see.

I would. When have you ever seen Apple give you a good deal for something in the UK? I'll answer that for you; never. Everything kicks up the price here; transport; retail space; warehousing; VAT; Apple Tax; employee costs; costs to withdraw the money from the EU. I think people are now becoming entirely unrealistic to expect these will be below £400 at base level. It's just a fantasy. You're dealing with a luxury product here, not some cheapo Dell.

This is missing the point. When has Apple ever advertised a product at an 'unbelievable price'? let me answer that for you, never! unless there using the unbelievable price to mean high, which I very much doubt, they have to keep at least slightly in line with US pricing. The basic Wi-Fi needs to be 399-429max or its nothing unbelievable at all.

It's called reverse psychology. They realise it's overpriced as it is, and so are conning your mind into believing it's cheap. Check the margin estimates; they're really making a profit on this one. We'll see a price drop within a few months like the original iPhone. I still say that despite having bought one. Everything Apple sell is overpriced; how else would they have $30 billion+ in the bank!

Edit: From my first post in this thread: "We'll soon know. I have a funny feeling any reference to an 'unbelievable' price will be removed from the Apple website." I still stand by that. :(

It doesn't even reach Macbook territory. With the Macbook Pro updates and pricing it seems like $=0.96*€=0.83*£

$499=€479=£415
$599=€575=£499
$699=€670=£580

$829=€795=£688

not too bad for £

I just created an account with them, only to have an additional £85 added for shipping and handling at the checkout. Total price £547.

No chance paying that for 16gb!

sneeky.........

Thank you - I was just about to plonk down £598 with them for a 32GB until I saw that - thought they were already taking the mickey, but another £85 would be too far OTT.

You saved me from doing something daft and impulsive :D:D

I put the Zipcode as 00000, with my normal postcode on the line above.

When did you place the order and how long did it take them to cancel your order?

~I done this but it also has 'required' a state, so I just used TX since you said at the end yours said Texas. Did you not enter a state?

Still no email for me :/

I'd rather wait becuase I have no support options here in the UK, I would need to use the US App store, and for all we know, I could be overpaying £100+

Was that just luck, or did the sender say it was a gift? I am avoiding otherwise good offers due to expected VAT costs.
