I hope the pricing for this does not get disrupted over the election result.
There is no way I will pay for this device on a $1=£1 conversion. The ipad is not worth £499 for a basic model. Its needs to be about £100 less than that if Apple are to see some good sales over the pond.
I am beginning to wish I had ordered one of these from the start and had it shipped over.
Assuming an 'unbelievable price' holds true then I will be at the Leicester Highcross store bright and early!

No, it doesn't, but you can still share the edge connection for data via MyWi. Have done it, so I know for sure. It ain't the speediest of data rates, but it does work.
So when I said "need 3g" in my previous post, I should have expanded and said "need any data connection for the interweb" really to be especially accurate. I wouldn't have minded using the 1st gen with edge as a hotspot for my ipad (the sim I bought for the 1st gen works with edge too afterall), but now I have jailbroken my 3gs I'll have actual 3g.

No, won't happen. Isn't the May 10th date for all of Europe, not just the UK? Smells fishy.
Anyway, IF that does happen, I'm off to New York to buy my iPad!

3 do a good deal, I have a contract dongle 12 months and comes with 5GB data for 13.69 quid a month, its supposed to be something like 19 quid, but I got a 30% off deal from the manager, just ask you never know.

I understand from an Apple insider the reason for the 10th May release date is to wait until after the election. Apple expect the £ to fail to $1 to £1 if we have a hung parliament. Apple have this one off chance to set the product price and
did not want to dip out.

Why not just go to you local three shop and buy a MiFi. Cost £50. Works great.

I would presume the best thing to do it preorder online, which I would have thought (I could be wrong) would start earlier than 10am. I'm up early anyway and was planning on refreshing the Apple Store page until the order button appears.
In the US, what time did preorders open? Did the online store match the in-person store times (eg, 10am)?
Anyone remember how long after opening it was before the US phone order lines closed due to stock problems.
