As I bought it through Ebay, apparently I am covered by their buyer protection. We shall see, but ultimately, I called USPS they told me that they are refunding the seller, so he should refund me.

Good point about Monday ZED2, i wonder if there will be any distress sales before then? I see that the prices have started to drop off on Ebay.

My iPad has now been officially lost by USPS! I am really disappointed :(

Anyone got a 16GB for sale for reasonable money?

At least they've admitted it's lost now and you should be covered by paypal protection.

I've seen some iPads that are in the UK on ebay going for reasonable sums these days. It might be worth a look.

Im just so torn.

If I was to get an ipad, I would get the 32Gb Wifi model. I can expect this to cost around 500 quid. For that, I could get a really nice laptop with more memory and a hell of a lot more function.

Whats selling me on the ipad is just how sexy and futuristic it is. I really dont see myself doing long spells of wordprocessing on it.

For those of you with one, is it really that productive. I guess im going on the thought of 'I dont need one, but I dont want one'. I cant just about afford one, but I know I will feel ****** knowing the price is disproportionate to function.

I might preorder one, or I might wait until they are out and just go and try one at the apple sote.

I would get the PC then go hang out in the Windows and PC forums.

Is that the US price with no sales tax compared to the UK price with VAT?

I just compared the prices as listed on Apple's US and UK stores without taxes for either as that would give the closest apples-to-apples comparison. Apple doesn't set sales tax or VAT so I didn't think it would be appropriate to incorporate them when the aim was to compare the prices that Apple does control.

Incidentally, the only product that isn't marked up 20% in the UK store is the 24" standalone monitor, which for some reason is only priced 10% above the US price. A relative bargain.

Sorry to hear about this nuisance and disappointment. Hopefully, your refund will go smoothly and quickly.

Buying US iTunes voucher codes?

Hi. Has anyone had any luck buying US iTunes vouchers online?

I bought $60 worth yesterday from Maximuscards.com. I have tried to buy more today and they are saying that there is a limit per customer and I've got to send them some ID and proof of my address. They won't really explain to me why so I'm trying to find somewhere else that has a similar system in place. Any ideas? Cheers

Only 4 days now until pre-orders and until pricing is revealed.

The anticipation is definitely building! :)

is it? are you sure? I thought it was more disgust at the delay and lack of information!!

I'm waiting till Monday so I can finally get on and order my accessories!

I'm thinking that they might reveal the prices tomorrow along with a preorder start time for Monday, I believe they did that type of announcement on a Friday in the US.
I just don't think it would make sense to have thousands of people refreshing the Apple Store site come Monday with no indication of prices or preorder time. I also expect to see a UK carrier or three reveal their data plans by the weekend. I have no evidence to back these theories up -just a hunch and 35 years of experience :p

Why disgust? What more information other than the date you will be given prices and pre-orders do you need at this point? Definitely anticipation in my opinion.

For mer personally, I'm itching to find out the prices. Once I know these then the eBay prices will drop (hopefully) and I can get one next week.

I hope this is the case. As you say, the Apple store online might take a bit of a bashing if not. And I'm fairly sure that such a large business needs time to put the details of such a big seller in place - I'm betting they already know the price and all this stuff about waiting for the election is just a belt and braces measure in case the pound really does start acting like it's on an elastic string. Or just rumour. I can't see Apple only taking one working day (and two in theory non working days) to finalise pricing for their product in Europe because of the UK election, it just seems a touch far fetched and probably impractical from their stand point. I could be wrong though.

I am just back from Florida and in the end visited 5 stores to get the camera accessory kit and happened to see very few cases there. The only stuff that was widely available were docks and keyboard docks and longer power adapter. Not sure what you are after, but be aware that most stuff is still not easy to come by there.

Ah well, my iPad odyssey has ended (for now).

After waiting three weeks for the USPS status to update, I've decided to cancel the order.

The seller's been pretty magnificent and fully refunded me (inc. postage) via Paypal.

Guess I'll just wait until it's out over here now.

I feel sorry for my gorgeous Piel Frama case which is sitting awaiting its cargo...

yeah I'm after the case, Camera Kit, and VGA cable. It would be nice if Apple shipped the accessories when available rather than waiting for the pads to ship first. In my case I'll not be ordering the pad so it'll just be accessories.

Sorry to hear that. I don't think there's much point in getting a US ipad now unless it's actually resident in the UK. If it took a week to get here which is best case and probably unlikely due to the ash cloud backlog in customs etc... you'd still only have it 2 weeks before uk launch at best.

Just my 2p worth. I think that the Apple case is certainly better than the others in the Apple Stores. It fits nice, it looks right and I like it (my credit card statement tells me it cost a tad over £27). The Camera Kit is also pretty gucci. It adds less than 2 cms on the base and when you plug am SD card in, it just pops right up and asks if you want to import. I enjoy photography when on holiday and this kit will save me lugging a laptop around - for just £20.45. Both were a real bugger to get (in Florida at least).

Chris

I haven't seen one in the flesh yet but I like the Apple case too.

What do you say about reports that they mark easily?

Mine does. But judging from the finish, a wipe down with a damp cloth will probably clean it, I haven't tried that yet.

I'll probably buy another case when I see one I like. For my purposes a case like a portfolio with an A4 pad on one side and the iPad on the other would probably be good for work, and I'll keep the Apple case for holiday use.
