I've managed to crash Mail, iPod and Safari and Evernote.

Once each, except for Safari which has crashed twice.

Fingers crossed that your unit is not defective. I have had one issue with steaming video with an ABC app - don't use Evernote - but Mail and Safari have had thorough testing.

Mike - I'm a little worried about your unit with all these crashes you're reporting. I got mine several weeks ago now and have not had anywhere near the crashes you've experienced.

Off the top of my head I've had about three or four isolated instances of apps crashing back to the home screen - roughly the same level of crashing as the apps on my iPhone. I don't remember Safari crashing once, and that's with heavy browsing through all my usual bookmarks, regularly, several times a day.

I'm not pulling the usual Internet kind of "well, I don't get that, so ha-haaa..." - just noting that your experience with these crashes is not usual with the iPad. What's everyone else's experience with this?

Interesting. I suspected it was the OS.

Still, I haven't had any problems since I rebooted the device - these were out of the box issues that occurred immediately after the first sync. I cannt reproduce them (although some apps still crash from time to time) so it's hard to determine exactly what thea problem was. Still, iPad hasn't skipped a beat in the past 36 hours and I've hardly put it down!

Hi Mike, not sure if you still monitor this thread. Did you get one of the £9.99 Vodafone sims of eBay. Mine arrived the other day but doesn't seem to work. It might be my location as coverage here is bad for Voda and no 3G. Just trying to find out if anyone who bought one from this chap confirmed it works before I make a bit of a trek to find a good signal.

Hi Boblister,

I'm still here but checking only twice a day and I missed your post.

My SIM (sold by the same seller) works in an unlocked MiFi. The first thing I'd be inclined to check is the device you have your SIM in - you need to ensure that you are unlocked and can get at least a GPRS connection. Make sure you are using the correct APN settings (in your iPhone it's in Settings->General->Network->Cellular Data Network).

As for 3G coverage, I find Voda better than O2.

I hope this helps!

Best,

Mike

Thank's Mike it is working fine now. One thing I am not certain of is if it times out after a month. I know that you have unlimited time to start it off, but reading the website regarding topping up it looks like you may get stuck on the new system of lasting just a month.

Incidentally, I am not sure if it was you that commented you couldn't top up anyway as you didn't know the number of the sim to top up with as it's not suppled when you receive it from the Ebay chap. If you pop it in an unlocked phone and send *#100# then it returns the sim's phone number and *#134# returns the credit left on it.

Hi all, anyone know if you can preorder without a credit card?
can I preorder with a debit card,or just pay when i pickup?

I don't think they mind if it's a debit or credit card. However they make an authorisation on your card which is actually taken when they despatch or when you collect. If you want to pay when you pick up then you will join the queue and it wont be pre-ordered.

Hi Parish,

Cheers for the reply. I just tried calling my local branch (Brum) and it just rang out. Guess this is the busiest time of the day for them tho. They are open till 8pm so will try again later...

If I reserve by debit card, will they 'take' the money there and then as there are insufficient funds until the middle of the month.

You might have a problem as they do an authorisation on it to see if there are enough funds there. They don't actually take it until the day. It's similar to hotels etc. they do the same.

I doubt it. I don't think it's even on their systems yet.

Anyone here planning to visit Florida soon?

Just noticed that I have a Hard Rock Cafe Meal Ticket left over from a recent trip. See: http://www.attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk/attraction-ticket-prices/hard-rock-cafe-meal-tickets.htm for more details. I can verify that their Cheeseburgers are pretty good.

I only have one and you may need to buy more from Attraction Tickets Direct if you need them.

I will post to you for nothing - but I will be really pissed if I see it for sale on eBay. If you are not planning a trip please don't ask for it.

Chris

That wasn't me, but thanks for the tip :) I was wondering how to validate the amount of credit on the SIM.

had a feeling that would be the case...just getting a bit twitchy now we're
getting down to the wire:D

Does anyone know if I can pre-order and then collect in store on release day ?

I did ask apple and they said this

As with the US launch we expect all pre orders placed to deliver to your door the same day of the retail release. So you don't need to stand in line. You can reserve a spot during pre order at the apple.com

Thanks

I'm always free, so I could go to one of the stores, but it's a bit of hassle getting to the nearest one. So I'm just going to preorder for delivery since deliveries will arrive on release day.

I wonder what accessories we'll have available. I'm wanting to order:

x1 iPad 16GB Wifi
x1 iPad 64GB Wifi
x1 Dock
x1 VGA Adapter
And maybe x1 Camera Connection thingymajig depending on price

ill defo want the apple case, shame as now its a friday i may not be able to make it to store, actually im sure the mk apple store is open to about 8

failing that i can get it 1st thing saturday morning if theyll hold it for me!!!
