Must depend on accessories. I ordered a dock and I've got "delivered by". People reporting "shipped by" seem to have ordered the case.
Finally got my order in, seems like an eternity since January waiting to but this. The next 18 days will be frustrating now!
I ordered at 1:12am... I wake up this morning and still no confirmation email 
they haven't taken the money from my account either (Visa Debit), although that is normal as my account usually takes a day or two to update.
The lack of confirmation email is worrying though.

Not according to the chat assistant, which sucks because I wanted to queue at the store.
I'm calling my local store at 9:30 when they open. I'm gonna ask if I can pre-order for Store pickup. If not, I'll order online.
Ordered at 3.40am and no confirmation email for ipad order.
Completed a second order for the case, camera dock etc just two minutes later and recieved an email for that order nearly instantly.
Wonder if we can order sims direct from the networks prior to launch. Was annoyed that I couldnt order more than one sim but I suppose it makes it alot fairer.

Looks like the mobile networks don't update their websites in the wee small hours like Apple do. If you click 'Learn more about 3G data plans' then follow the links 'Visit the O2/Orange/Vodaphone' website' they all come up with Page Not Found

Yes you can order SIM's. At least you can from Orange. It was in the press release.
I thought most people hating queues. Surely having it delivered right to your door is the best option. No waiting around, no trouble getting to a store.
Forgot to mention. Although I got my confirmation email 50 minutes after I ordered at 4am, I never got an email saying preorders were now starting, despite signing up three email address to the Notify Me thing. Which means since the iPad pages went live, zero emails have ever been sent.
Ordered myself a 16gb WiFi at about 7.45 this morning, confirmation email was received about 15 mins later saying delivers by May 28th.
3 weeks will fly around, since we found out pre-orders where for today I'd even talked myself out of getting one. 24 hours ago I had no intention to pre-order. So sorta done it on impulse when I woke up this morning. I'm such a sucker! I'd convinced myself I'd be better off with a new iPhone when they come out. Gotta try save up for that now

What I can confirm is that my order say "Delivered by 28th May", which of course appears to suggest that the iPad will be shipped before in time for a 28th delivery. I ordered a 16GB WiFi iPad and a dock.
Just pleased to get my order in, really. After waiting for so many months without even having any pricing details, the 3 week wait knowing I've actually got one on order will be quite liberating.. comparativley. Just watch as I change my tune a week before, when I'm climbing the walls waiting for the 28th..

I am not sure why some of us got the "shipped by 28th" message.
This is why I wanted to queue and pick up." All this uncertainty.
I'm curious... If you also ordered the case in the same order, could you go and check if your order says Delivered By or Shipped By? I think it's the case that's giving people the Shipped By info. Anyone able to confirm?
Finally spoke to someone on Apple Live Chat about this whole 'ordering a case and it slowing the delivery down' question. Long story short: they say they don't anticipate anyone having a delayed order: the iPad should arrive on the 28th.

I have already placed my order for the iPad 32GB 3G, the sim, the case and the camera kit, though. And the whole order shows as shipping by 28th. Will the shipment be split so I can have my iPad on the 28th like everyone else?

- Not delayed. The iPad will be shipping out to reach you by the 28th. First day so in-store sales, something we have done in the past. We like to ship the first delivery of a new item the same as the first day of in-store sales as a way to control the crowds at the store. Sales start on the 28th, your item will arrive on the 28th.
So, if there IS a problem with the cases, for example (like there was in the US) will my case arrive later in a seperate delivery?

I just placed a second order for just a 3G iPad with an O2 sim and got the same "Shipping by 28th" message. Looked closer at the various components and it seems the iPads are "Delivered by 28th" and the sims are "Shipped by 28th". But I've been told that the iPads are supposed to all be delivered on the 28th, even 3G ones with sims.

Out of interest, what was "a lot less pain free" than adding two items to your basket and going through the exact same checkout procedure as for any other online purchase ever?
Probably clicking the 'Confirm' button and watching over £400 disappear from his banl account
Check out the thread I made and they will say exactly that. just order online anyway and they will allow you to change shipping method later on if this method becomes available.
