Atmosphere.
No other shoppers. Krispy Kreme. Starbucks. iPad :D

Agree on atmosphere, Krispy Kreme and iPad, while both are awesome, should never ever be in the same sentence together :D

Think my wife was very generous last night and ordered a 16Gb wi-fi for me birthday. Very interesting seeing a newcomer to the mac store go through the F5 frenzy most of us indulge in every time the store goes down.

I have ordered mine online. 32GB with Dock and Case. Order says Delivers by 28th May. I can't wait. My work colleagues are going to start annoying me now that I have ordered it. But I don't care. Now where is the new iPhone??

Just oredered a 32GB Wi-Fi - was umming and ahhing about a 3G but in the end decided that the ocassional need for 3G didn't justify the price.

No e-mail yet, but online Order Status says 'Delivers by May 28th' :D

If you look at the bottom-left of the Order Status screen it says

Shipping Options

Items will be shipped when all items are available.

Maybe that is why people who've ordered SIMs and/or accessories seem to be getting 'Shipped by May 28th' - they can only be sure they can ship the iPads for 28th delivery?

Mine said shipped by 28th. I hope it isn't the sim chip thats holding it up. I didn't even want a sim in it in the first place. I will be using a mifi with Three.

Guess its time to start accessory hunting now!

I can't decide how I want to protect my new baby. I'm thinking something like a griffin flexigrip for using it around the house and a cheap netbook case for when I'm travelling.

Doesn't seem much avaialble in UK yet.

I saw that and panicked but mine says Delivered by 28th, that includes the case.
If the case delays my iPad, I'm cancelling the order and getting it from the store.

I'm just gonna wait and see. Apple clearly understand the value of getting your iPad delivered on the day it's available regardless of what else you ordered, so I'd hope they change the way everything ships nearer the time. I bloody hope so, anyway.

who delivers them in the UK? I hope its not royal mail!

Recently at work we had an iMac delivered from Apple directly through UPS. Let's hope they are using UPS for iPads too!

Another verification of UPS here - my iMac was delivered last month by UPS. I took the day off but it didn't show up until 5.30pm... days leave wasted! Hopefully the iPad (32GB 3G) pitches up first thing :D

I'm a bit stumped that some folks are reporting that the money has actually left their account and not just been pre-authorised... not Apple's MO, and companies can't charge for something they don't actually have available to dispatch I think?

:EDIT:

The iPad status is delivered on 28th May, and sim is down as shipped by 28th. As Orange as giving away their sims free in store I'll pick one of them up and see who has the best reception at work :)

I guess it would be the SIM as that is the item that is outside Apple's control so they can't promise 28th delivery in case the networks are late delivering the SIMs

I am thinking of buying an iPad for my trip to France in summer but I am unsure of how I'd get Orange FR data without a French Bank account or are there ways for foreigners to buy it and I have over looked the option?

I do have to say though 2Gb for 39€ is an awful lot :p makes Orange UK look golden :D

6 hours and 20 minutes after I placed my order, I've just received my first ever email via the Notify Me service they offered, to let me know that we can now preorder. :p

It can't be the cases because I ordered a 16gb Wifi and the Apple Case together and it says on my order, Estimated Shipping Time: Delivered by 28th May. Nowhere has it got a separate date for the case.

Yeah the bad news is I have gone into the order to try and remove the sim from the order as I dont want the SIM anyway. There is a bit that says cancel items, which I expected would lit items so I can choose any to remove. Said it was cancelling the whole order and would be confirmed within 15 mins. That was nearly an hour ago. Still says the same. Sigh.

Still no confirmation email for me, around an hour or two after I ordered, although my account on the online Apple Store ackowledges the order..

Am I going mad with iPad paranoia already?

I'm pretty sure it'll be OK: I think their systems are getting hammered at the moment, because the store was noticeably slow this morning (never normally is for me) and I had a devil of a job getting it to accept any of my cards. I also have no confirmation yet but the order is there in my store account and i have an order number. Patience. ;)

Can someone with an order try something for me. Go to the view order details which is on the your orders page. Then try one of the edit boxes such as shipping email. I get a window pop up saying order being processed please wait 15 mins. Its been there over an hour now. I am wondering if this is why I haven't got an email yet.

....aaaand the confirmation email arrives. Nice. :)

Relax, no-email people: it'll get there.
