Ordered 10 May 2010 01:04 AM

32GB WiFi Only iPad
Apple iPad Case

Delivery expected: 28th May 2010

Confirmation email arrived 01:45 AM

Just checked with Apple and order has gone through fine. Used a credit card which is authorised at order time but not charged until item is shipped. The case should not affect the delivery date of the iPad but if anything changes I will be notified via email.

The order can be cancelled at any time, though best to do it before the item is shipped!

Also I registered to be notified on the iPad page months ago...still haven't received an email lol

I went for the WiFi only since the 3G data plans don't appeal to me and I always have the fallback option of using my iPhone 3GS with MyWi for tethering...or just use the iPhone 3GS (for 3G and GPS) if all else fails lol

Roll on the 28th...

Same as me. I have a 3G MIFI anyway. I got a bluetooth GPS working on the wifes WIFI iPad over the weekend. I was quite pleased how it worked.

Which Bluetooth GPS did you use and how did you do it? I have a palmOne GPS which came with my palm pilot some time back but so far neither the iPad nor the iPhones have been able to see it in the Bluetooth preferences!! :(

I ordered at 12.58am, I'm thinking I might have been the first. I was working night shift, very bored with nothing to do (not that I'm complaining).
My order says I made the order on the 9th haha.

Unfortunately you will probably have the same 'problem' with your order as JonnyIreland.

You need to jailbreak the iPad which too just a few mins. The there is an APP downloaded via Cydia called roqyBT which is a bluetooth stack. I was using a Columbus V900 but there is a long list of compatible GPS's on the roqyBT website. http://www.roqy-bluetooth.net/wp/

Kind of makes me feel a lot happier about the price I paid for mine from the US!

Yeah i bet it does how much was it ? , also will the 3G us version work over here with the UK tarrifs ?

Uhhhhh..... No one is forcing you to purchase dude.

Yeah your right ive not seen anyone on here verbally pressure me into buying one either

That doesn't stop him having an opinion on the prices though. Anyway, leave that argument to the thread dedicated to it ;)

Thanks owen , dont get me wrong i love the ipad everything about it but i feel as if we got shafted by the price. If the ipad was £390 or under i would of had 2 of those bad boys on preorder.

If I got an email after my order saying it's being processed has it gone through???

I'm worried now!!!!! Mine was ordered by my mrs at 1.30am so I didn't check it

That means the order is successful. Next email you get (nearer to 28th) will be tracking info etc.

Do you realise that the iPad comes with a power adapter, and that you've ordered an additional one? Nearly caught me out this morning until I re-read all the fine print!

Long power adapter and dock 1 for by the sofa (main location), with my kindle and iPod touch power docking. USB lead and dock 2 for my desk and syncing/charging - next to iPhone, Ipod Classic, Touch and shuffle charging/syncing - and the short power adapter in my travel bag.

Might get another express and use the touch in another stereo system once the iPad takes over major sofa duties. I've enough left over stereo bits to build an amp/speaker system in the bedroom.

Can you stream radio through the express and into a stereo and control though an ipod Touch?

Is there a way to get a US ipad wifi or 3g cheaper than the prices in the UK and with a receipt that i could use if i had any problems so i could take it back to the apple store .

PS: got no family or friends going to US

I think if you check earlier in this thread there are a lot who have bought from the US direct or via Bundlebox or eBay etc. Or via eBay. Some have good tales and some bad.
Though I would have thought you knew all this as you have been active in this thread since launch in the US, following the methods and prices.

Loads of people bought from Bundlebox and eBay, however they (mainly) payed more than the UK price. This was them paying a premium to have it before the UK release.

Apple then wised up to this and cancelled loads of Bundlebox orders.

The only way to get it cheaper than the UK is to have someone bring it over in their luggage with them.... I saw you said no family or friends are in the states right now, but what about work colleagues?

Just noticed that the Vodafone data plans has slightly changed.

This morning I'm sure it said for £25 you got 5GB. Now it is saying unlimited for £25 with a footnote mentioning fair usage policy of 5GB. Crafty marketing Vodafone.

Vodafone seem rather confused - first it was £10 for 250Mb a month and then it was £10 for 1GB. Hopefully in a few weeks they'll have worked out some decent deals...

I'm hoping the operators will keep changing their pricing, and by the time the 28th rolls round we'll have a decent "unlimited" option available on o2...

You won't get it cheaper. You'll have US price + US sales tax + shipping + VAT and/or customs charge (seems to vary which you get stung with) on arrival in the UK.

To those who use MIFI on there UK ipads

1-When you get the device does it come with a 3 sim already installed .

2-How do you topup the credit , is it the exact same way as you would on a PAYG mobile ?

3- If you buy it for a month does it last exactly 1 month from point of purchase or to the end of the month you purchased it on.

4-Also with the sd card slot what does it do for you if you have a ipad ...or a laptop

5-How long does the battery last , and how quick is it to charge it

thanks dino26

1 - Yes sort of. Its in the box so you have to put the sim in the MIFI unit.

2 - Yes. Buy a voucher or use your credit/debit card online

3 - If you bought it today but didn't put the sim in it for 6 weeks, your month starts in 6 weeks time.

4 - Acts like a memory stick in USB mode.

5 - Not sure using it for an hour or so a day seems to last all week. Seems to charge fast. An hour or two from flat. I haven't timed it but it seems fast.

Hmmm, after seeing the non impressive or magical prices, ive decided i have but one option, i ahve friends traveling to the US, im sure that i could get her to pick me one up, and bring it back through customs, not sayinng anything here, but its her choice to declare it or not ;)

so i think it will be much cheaper for her to get me one than to purchase a UK ipad now.

Yup same experience here. I've SIM unlocked mine and upgraded the firmware so I can use any SIM and can configure it using a web browser rather than being forced to use the windows only client.
