Oh, we know that it can be done physically, it's just that 3 are playing silly beggars!
Yes Three tend to be a bit arsey at times if you don't use their gear. I think it's when you use something that will get the 2G network as well. Three only has 3G network itself I believe and rents the 2G stuff in areas it cant cover from the likes of Orange. They don't want their customers using data on the 2G network as it costs them. All Three's stuff will only do data on 3G.

What's the difference between the MiFi PAYG and PAYG+? The latter is £69.99 and says "modem is already loaded with the data allowance you've chosen" so you have to select a data allowance on top too? So what does the extra £20 (over the modem price) get you then?:confused::confused:

Basically the sim is preloaded with 3GB that will time out in 3 months after you start using it. So you get 3 months worth for the cost of 2. The top up with whatever you want when its used up.

It explains it here

http://threestore.three.co.uk/broadband/?mifi=1

One comes with 3GB preloaded that lasts 3 months and the other is empty. Waiting to be fed.

Three months and 3GB of mobile broadband

hehehe I don't think it will work directly in the iPads as it seems from others that Three are blocking them.. however it might work in a MiFi which is a Three Product.

Though it's also possible that Three will know that it's inside a MiFi and block it again...

Three months and 3GB of mobile broadband

Thanks - but am I missing something here? 3GB only costs £15, so £54.99 including the modem :confused::confused:

Thanks - couldn't find any links to that page from the link that was posted. Not very well planned website IMO.

you pay more for first sim but it lasts for 3 months not the usual 1 month that you get when you topup £15 for 3 gig.

hope that helps.

Yep 3gb for £15. But, it only lasts a month.

Ah, I didn't reliaze that the PAYG plans have a time limit (although I should perhaps have figured it out from the comment that the package was 3GB for 3 months  ).

Oh well, no good for me as any 3G usage will be minimal so I would want a PAYG plan without a time limit - just buy as and when needed so if 1GB last a week or a year it doesn't matter. Guess I'm not going to find a plan like that :(

The only network that did that sort of plan was Vodafone. You paid £15 and got 1GB which didn't expire providing you used it once every 180 days. They stopped selling this price plan but you can still find SIMs on eBay which are on it. You would need to unlock the 3 MiFi for this to work.

Thanks flipshot. Don't think I'll bother with eBay though. Guess I'll just use my iPhone for internet access when mobile.

Request for help...

Could someone in the UK (who preordered yesterday) please try to log in to view their order status at the Apple Store site.... I have been trying all day but I get a 'technical error' message

Let me know if you can access you order screen, I'm probably worrying for nothing but it seems a little strange and I haven't seen anyone else report the issue. Thanks in advance.
