Sorry to kind of derial topic but I wanted to ask aquestion about the actual delivery. You see I work 6am to 5pm, so does Apple give me a timeframe prior to delivery?

I dont want to be in the situation of arranging pick up times because it will mean having to leave early from work. I know these parcel places hate working beyond 5pm haha.

Could you not get it delivered to your workplace? I'm very confident it would be delivered before 5pm.
The delivery address is editable on the Apple website (under order status).

Apple does not give delivery times. They don't pay for that service from the couriers.

Either have them ship to your office or a neighbour, or you'll have to collect from the depot once they have tried to deliver it to you.

Suppose I could...hmm. I just think my boss will be funny about it and probably wont agree. Hopefully they could either leave it with my neighbour? or Im gonna have to pick it up, I just hope its with Royal Mail because its literally 3 mins away haha compared the UPS warehouse which is way further.

It will be UPS. It is never, ever, ever Royal Fail.

If you remember the last time you got a UPS parcel, it is a guideline as where you are in the area queue, for me i'm going to receive it around 9.30-10am so it's alright

I am STILL unclear if the iPad will be delayed by the Micro-SIM card as it shows the "ship by 28th" and the iPad shows the "deliver by 28th"

But like everyone else who ordered a SIM and/or accessories it says that the items will be shipped together so it won't be sent till the 28th.

It is very unclear.

I did email Apple who said it would be shipped by the 28th and the SIM would NOT delay the delivery -which it already has if it is shipping on the 28th!

It'll make 9000 if there is a delay in the delivery of the ipads otherwise I suspect this thread will die in another 1500 posts.

I am very confused. Pre-ordered the iPad on Monday and in my account it said account balance: £1,000 and then it had next to it available balance which was : £540 or something. So the money for the iPad I couldn't touch. I look this morning and the avaliable balance is £999. I checked my order status on the apple site but nothing has changed. I'm confused.

It's called a pre-authorization and has been mentioned over a bazillion times. This is standard practice with a debit card.

I have seen that but I thought my available balance would just show as less than the account balance until Apple actually takes the money out.

It might have been mentioned a bazillion times but it is a bit unnerving. It is not a common practice apparently. In fact I have been instructed by my bank to call them a few days before the transaction is submitted again otherwise there is every chance that it will get rejected as part of their anti fraud measures.

Don't you know that everyone else is right and you are wrong?

(NOTE: I'm on a total sarcasm mission this morning, I am sick of reading posters who think they know it all and are right about everything).

I am in a similar position to youBoblister, i'll keep you updated. I might phone my bank next week too, just to make sure that the payment will go through.

I had a monthly online payment refused last week. Couldn't understand why as all the details looked fine online. Said it would be re-presented next day. That afternoon got an automated "urgent" call from the bank asking me to stay on the line. A chap from the fraud prevention department came online. Said they had noticed an unusual pattern in my spending so had withheld payments until I clarified them as part of a fraud prevention scheme they have. It's because of things like this I am jumpy.

Exactly. Same thing happened to me recently when I tried to book flights online. (I don't suppose your bank has the initials "A+L"?)
Previously, I have also had my CC company call to tell me that someone in China tried to use my card for a £900 transaction which they had blocked, so I can also see the positive side of the anti-fraud measures.

Just to update, I just called my bank now instead of waiting until next week (my bank is Alliance+Leicester).

They said that Apple had tried the preauthorisation amount for my order twice (£624.30), but this okay in my case because I already know that my first order failed (glitch in Apple's systems for some of the early orders, which is why I ordered a second time later). Finally, they told me that as long as the preauthorisation has occured and has been taken from my 'available balance' (which it has), then the money will be taken when Apple decides to.

NOTE: If this is different for some people -don't panic. Some banks seem to do this differently.
