Now this is what the iPad was made for. I am standing in a long queue in the post office waiting to post a package, browsing the forum and entering this reply using my wifes WIFI iPad. I get my 3G one next Friday and get to use this till it arrives. Got mifi in my pocket getting Three at a superb speed. It's unobtrusive looks like I am reading a magazine or something. The hardest thing is the one handed typing.
What do you think of the keyboard? I'd be interested to know if portrait or landscape makes any difference and how quickly can you type on it?
For one handed or two thumb typing portrait mode is best. But for faster typing I like landscape mode on a table. My sons WIFI has a proper Apple case and he raves about it. The one I am using belonging to my wife is in a £10 Ebay case and not as nice for table typing.
I prefer typing landscape with the bigger keyboard.. I can type just fine. Took a few minutes to get used to but now I'm quite quick.. Only when I have to get to the extra characters do it take a little longer but hey...
I've written quite a few documents on the pad and it's good fun... Waiting for the apple case to help with raising it up a little.
I would not want to write a particularly interesting account of my life on the keyboard, but for the odd note or forum entry it is better than fine. It is okay for correcting errors and I would not consider bothering to connect a keyboard.
Cancelled my WiFi (delivered by 28th May) and ordered a WiFi+3G and now it says (shipped by 7th June), is shipped another term for delivered by or does that mean it will leave America/China on 7th of June and then be delivered to me a few days later ?
I think that is the anticipated date for it to leave the local stock within UK. UPS deliver a day or two later but you should be able to track from then.
"Shipped by" means shipped - it will ship from wherever the depot is on that date (or sooner), and arrive a few days later. If your order says "Delivered by", then it will be shipped from the depot with enough time to arrive by that date, or sooner.
Well my email stated delivers by 28th yet my main order page on apple states ship by 28th
When I ordered mine I added the dock and a sim card, and the apple status page always said ships by the 28th, I have since cancelled the sim and dock, and it still says ships by 28th.... I really hope its delivered on the 28th, took the day off work as well as I had hoped to reserve one in store and go collect it!
Well if they dont turn up on the 28th it's going to be a long bank holiday weekend. Tuesday is the next possible delivery day after that.
Considering mines was placed at 12.35am on the 10th I will be pretty pissed

I think my trusty 8GB touch will be on ebay very soon after the 28th.
I've ordered the Apple case but the Vaja Ivolution holster on the touch is superb so I still can't decide whether to order one for the iPad. Tad expensive though.

Is that what happened in America? I'd certainly hope they wouldn't hold back the iPad's for the sake of accessories. Especially if you've ordered afew different accessories, and only one of them is holding them up..
Apple are alot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. I think it's safe to assume that the only delays to our actual iPad's will be from UPS and not Apple. Not that I particularly expect delays of any sort..
