do they generally sell new things at the same time as Apple stores?

We have a premium reseller in Windsor but not a proper Apple store.

I asked at mine a while ago (Square) and they said they will stock them 2 weeks after release.

A employee at the trafford centre store got told that they aren't allowed the 28th off and that the 24th date was just to mess things up , and that they have to be in the store for 7:30 that morning but yet again they won't say why ............

Oh please say they aint gonna release it on the Wednesday. <sigh>

And another date to add to the mix... 26th April

It doesn't actually give any reason behind that date...

Seems to be suggesting that a publisher is launching an app on that date to coincide with the launch on the same day.

Also, someone here said that UK Apple Store employees began training with iPads, but US employees didnt get them till the morning of the launch day :/

Yeah that is a bit strange that UK employees get a preview but I guess it's out there in the word now so its not impossible.

Where the hell is the USB to mini-usb cable?

I've spent ~40 mins looking for it and I can't find it. @northy, I'll take a pic tomorrow with an old web cam and upload them - going to sleep soon.

Wow, you spent 40 mins looking for a cable when your new iPad is waiting to be played with?:D Some dedication that.

You haven't seen my room full of computer peripherals. I thought it was 10 mins until I noticed that two episodes of FlashForward had loaded.

For people watching Queen's Sacrifice on Monday, Janis Hawk <- I am disappointed in you.

yeah but I'm assuming they're £600 each, which is why he says to contact him before it finishes.

thats the one I'm watching - its tempting. Not far off what the UK price might be, but he still makes some decent money off it

U two friends now after this tif?

I hope u paid your vat on your eBay ipad???

I think so - well apparently, it was paid, according to the FedEx guy.

You have to feel a bit sorry for this guy: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/iPad-64GB-BNI...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item4aa02a4c68

He's accidentally listed all his iPads in one listing with a BIN price of £600. Fancy 10 iPads for £600?

Oh dear - yeah.

Lol. Does he have to honour it if bin for £600?

No, but you could open a dispute in which he would likely make a settlement of an extremely good price for 1. Otherwise he'd be forced to go through months of hastle.

its already a good price compared to others at the moment. I sent him a message suggesting he clarifies the situation.

I feel so sorry for him if someone purchases it.

I really wish him the best of luck, even though I am tempted to buy it now for £600 - damn the person who does this, and expects it all, forcing seller to give him all.

I just bought it. couldn't resist at that price.

Hi, Been following the discussions the last few days and just checked in today and noticed you where all chatting about this guy on ebay. I decided that now would be the time for me to make a meaningful entry into the discussion -:eek:PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THIS GUY HE IS SURELY A SCAMMER:eek::eek:

I bought through the exact same auction yesterday and he started sending me dodgy emails about paying the money directly into his paypal account to avoid ebay fees. I of course declined to do so. He then said that if I wanted to pay through the ebay paypal that I would have to wait 21 days for the payment to clear!!??

I again declined and withdrew from the auction. Have not left any feedback for him yet as I fear that he will tarnish my feedback with a bit of 'tit for tat':( .
You guys have been warned!

I've been following the prices and stock for for sellers shipping iPads from the UK closely this week, today the prices seemed to have dropped a little bit and there seems to be a lot more stock available (22 BIN results a couple of days ago vs 72 today). I suspect that because now people won't get them for the weekend less people are interested in paying premium prices or it could just be that a lot more stock has arrived in the UK, I think prices will drop further next week. I ordered from ebay on Wednesday but looks like I won't get it till Monday because the seller was a bit slow dispatching it, bought for a decent price so I'm not too bothered.

I sold a couple on eBay and i barely broke even. I don't know where you guys expect the "prices to come down" from. A 32gb sells for between $710-750 on an auction.

Say the sell price $730: eBay takes 8%, paypal takes 4.5%, that brings the total to $638. Here in NY, a $599 32gb costs $652 with tax. So you are actually making a loss.

People can't make money on shipping any more (perhaps charging $5 extra for the envelope) because eBay works it all out for you. So those of you hoping for the prices to "come down" - with eBay and paypal it's not a viable business model. get real.

LOL poor bastard

That's one of those situations where you'd suck up a negative, probably following up with how it was an honest mistake and you couldn't afford to do that.

Legally binding though so it'd be interesting to see how it works out... surely even the law accounts for mistakes. Considering the value of that lot I'd let them take it to court at least.

I am fairly sure that eBays recent rules mean a seller cannot negative rate a buyer, he has to go through a complaints procedure. However a buyer can negative rate a seller.

If you are referring to my post above, I was specifically talking about prices of iPads being sold from UK sellers and shipped in the UK where the markup is a lot higher than sellers in the US (e.g. I've seen many 32gb models being sold for around £600-650/$920-$1000 a couple of days ago) so in those cases there is room for prices to go down.

See my post above- this guy is a scammer
