I am fairly sure that eBays recent rules mean a seller cannot negative rate a buyer, he has to go through a complaints procedure. However a buyer can negative rate a seller.

If this is correct then I will defo negatively rate him- can anyone confirm?

I ended up picking a 64gb from a 'buy it now' from a (hopefully) reputable Uk seller. Paid quite a bit for it but confident that has been dispatched and should arrive tomorrow before 1pm. Getting excited now :)

A quote from ebays help pages

How are Feedback Scores calculated?

For each transaction, buyers and sellers can choose to rate each other by leaving Feedback. Buyers can leave a positive, negative, or a neutral rating, plus a short comment. Sellers can leave a positive rating and a short comment.

This system was brought out for exactly the problem you have. Scared to negative rate even though its deserved because of reprisals. A sellers only course of action is to go through ebays complaints procedure.

Do it, I haven't had the need myself but I distinctly remember reading all the fuss that sellers were making that eBay was all "sided against them" nowadays - with the positive-only feedback to buyers being the crux of their argument.

He then said that if I wanted to pay through the ebay paypal that I would have to wait 21 days for the payment to clear!!??

I sold 2 iPads on ebay yesterday. both paid through paypal. One guy's payment came straight through. the other says it will take 21 days and there is a "grace" period in which the buyer can return the goods (even though on the auction NO RETURNS were specified) WHat the hell? anybody know why paypal does that and how you can avoid this 21 days payment clearing?

It's in Paypal's terms that you HAVE to allow returns if you use paypal no matter what your auction says.

Today marks the very last date that has been suggested for an announcement. The store is always updated by 1pm right? So we have between now and 1 to see if we get any news, and if not, I'm s*** out of ideas.

After 1460 posts, is the price announcement really relevant. The way I see it, nearly everyone here is going to buy one, one way or the other, and fifty quid either way is not going to make the slightest difference

i dont care about costs....

i just want to be able to order one to pick up..... i dont really like the whole running through a shopping centre malarky (all apple stores near me are within centres) its nice to stroll around knowing theres one with your name on it

The store only ever updates on a Tuesday in my experience, but maybe today is the day they break the mold....

your right!

just feels better letting off steam about lack of info via thread.

the price (and date) announcement will stop me pressing f5 on ebay (assuming the date is fairly close). Even if I have just been scammed out of £600

im tied between 3g or wifi

dont fancy jailbreaking my iphone to get wifi, then i have to keep my iphone battery charged up!

but im not going into a contract for the data so ill have to wait and see......

also that black strip looks gash on the back (although necessary)

I've given up caring now.

I'm just gonna forget about the damn thing until one day I get home, click Safari and boom! it'll be there on Apple UK homepage.

Looks likes its gonna be lovely weekend I'm gonna enjoy that. Its only a giant iphone anyway ;)

Just rang parcelforce, my damn ipad is still in uk customs!!!

It has a guaranteed delivery date for Monday, but the women says they'll never make that now.

What a load of big balls!!!!!

Well, prices DOES matter for me. Yes, I could probably afford any of 6 versions on offer, but I think it is important not to lose sight of the fact of what the iPad really is -for me, there is a maximum value as to what they are actually worth. The price ranges that have been predicted for the UK really might hit the upper limits of their true value for me. I mean, anything over £550-600 for an iPad is a lot.
Just my opinion ;)

Note: it might not sound like it above, but nobody wants this thing more than I do. I've been glued to the internet since January waiting for news. But I have limits as to which companies and businesses deserve my hard-earned money, and for me an iPad might cost up to 2 weeks wages. When I think of how much work I do in 2 weeks to earn that money, I see it in a new light.
