There really are three golden rules with eBay:

1. If it seems to good to be true, then it is. Avoid.

2. Pictures -are the pictures 'real' or taken from a website?

3. Feedback feeback and more feedback.

Lets think about this sensibly. He's selling the 64GB iPad for $700 + $100 shipping. So he's making $1 on the iPad.... plus what did it cost him to bring it into the EU? Plus 3G version WTF? If it sounds too good to be true.

Sh*t forgot they were $699 in the US.

Yep scam.

I'll report it to eBay now.

You have successfully submitted a report.

Pointed out miss information and suspicious price going on ebay fees and cost of the iPads initially would mean the seller would be losing money, making it appear to be a scam. Will see if I get a reply from eBay.

Edit::

Noticed two people bought from him :(

I'm thinking about either going for a 32gb wifi or a 16gb 3G

I have a 1Gen 16GB itouch

What do you guys think I should do

UK mac rumor nuts avoid eBay and wait for the UK launch

and can anyone tell me how the whole apple preorder thing works

Bump bump and more bump

Anyone getting the official case and can some uk machead help out with above

I think im going for the official apple case,

With your situation of having a 16GB iPod touch, i would just go for the 16GB iPad, Probably with 3G.

The apple pre order woks just like ordering any other product really, just they ship it on the date of release,

SO you go on, order your product, pay for it, (money comes out i think just beofre release) then you get it on the day of release.

You may remember (maybe not) a few pages back that I posted that I too had succumbed to ebay and bought a 32GB iPad. In my moment of haste, I didn't see that the guy was still in the USA and would be bringing it back with him on Sunday 11th April. I thought I was going to be able to get it that day. doh!

He listed with the stock Apple images rather than an actual photo which people seem to be wary of but I've already had 3 email exchanges with him and there's nothing that makes me doubt him, seemed very pleasant. Also, I'm going to collect in person tomorrow evening seeing as he lives less than 10 miles away when I'll pay him cash so at least I'll have the chance to visually inspect before handing over the cash, and I'll be getting the receipt too so that I can present it in an Apple store should I be unfortunate enough to need Apple's warranty at some point.

I think with regard to ebay, we all start out from the position of doubt, fear, etc and always assume the worst but not everyone's like that otherwise ebay would probably collapse overnight.

Having said that, watch out for me posting tomorrow night that I've been sold a box of sand and admitting I'm a dumbass! :D

Still, it's only money, eh?

Now thats an idea. Get a job with them for a month or so flipping burgers. That will help pay for the iPad and get a nice discount as well. As long as I dont have to eat the damned things!

Thanks for the reply mate

Do you know how much actual free GB will be on a 16gb ipad

Also with the apple preorder can you pick it up at the store if you preordered it is that the norm ? . If you want it delivered to your door on day of release does it cost more because of the delivery (some guy told my dad apple would deliver it for free but it seems a bit )

Nooooo!! You were always one of the stronger and more resolute peeps here! Come on - you can do it!!! :)

Damn, the way it's going by the time this thing launches here y'all will already have your iPads and I'll have no one to share my excitement with! :(

MUST BE STRONG !!!

(Deep breaths) Thanks Elise, I was wavering abt for a moment there.

I am considering fronting the money for the iphone developer whatsit so I can download the beta of 4.0. That's how bad it's got- that I need stuff like this to keep me amused and on the Apple straight and narrow. I must add that in no way can I make use of the iphone dev stuff in any other way because I wouldn't have the first idea how to code with it !

Well 16GB willl be measured in the number of bytes, it wont be 16GB when formatted, it will be 16000000bytes or whatever,. witch when formatted will be about 15.4 maybe 14.9 GB free, so about 14.5GB free after the firmware is installed, so still plenty of space,

Now thats an idea. Get a job with them for a month or so flipping burgers. That will help pay for the iPad and get a nice discount as well. As long as I dont have to eat the damned things!

I think you may have to work for them for a year or something to take advantage of the benefits, not sure, but getting a job for o month and reaping the rewards would be excelent!!

Just some quick googling brought up this

Not sure how legit it is, but Cnet is usually pretty good

Here's another date to add to the Apple iPad UK launch rumour mill: 26 April. CNET UK has learned that a major publisher's app team is readying its iPad app for release on that date to coincide with the much-hyped tablet's launch.

Previous rumours suggested Apple Store staff had been told not to take the day off on Saturday 24. We also considered the day before, Friday 23 April, as all versions of the iPhone have launched over here on a Friday. Tuesday has been Apple's traditional launch day for most other products -- signalled with trademark contrariness by the Apple Web site going offline for a hype-inducing couple of hours. 26 April, the day the iPad will arrive, according to our source, is a Monday. Book your day off now.

Yeah i saw that article last night but look at the comments

I work for Apple trafford center manchester and we have been told earlier today that no member of staff is allowed to have the 28/4 off work. Aparently the 24th was set to mix things up. We havent been told why we can't have that day off, but its fairly obvious.
We are also expected to arrive at work for 7.30 in the morning. again not sharing with us why!

I think we've all been reading this thread and other websites for long enough now to realise that there is no point believing the "my aunt's cat told me by scratching a message into the ground that Apple are definitely releasing it on April xx" ..... I've had enough of the bull**** rumours. All I want is official word from Apple, I don't believe a single word of speculation or rumour at this point :(

I was intending on getting the Apple case but damn, I've been watching some reviews on Youtube and I'm not sure now if it's the best choice. It'll probably cost at least £30 to buy it too!

I may ask the folks at the store to show me the best way to take it out if I end up buying it.

wow that is good!!!!

a chap told me in the apple store they get a once a year 20-25% (i cant remember

then after that they get 15% i think he said.

I used to work at the Apple Store in Sheffield and got 27% discount on one purchase of each item. (i.e. 1 iMac, 1 Macbook Pro etc..)

After that we used to get 15% from anything else. But you have to buy that from the online Store.

If you buy anything from the actual store, its 12%.

I miss working there :(

I couldn't wait any longer, bit the bullet, paid £600 cash for the 32gb model and collected it from an Ebay seller in London. Ultimately after Apple tax, I don't think the 32gb model will be that much cheaper when it comes out in the UK, but more importantly, there's no more waiting.

Worth the 120 mile round trip drive to get it? Definitely. There's no doubt that it's a gratuitous purchase but it's sooo worth it!

Im still hoping the prices will be in the region of this

WIFI

16gb- £380-400

32gb- £470-490

64gb- £560-580

3G/WIFI

16gb- £450-480

32gb- £540-570

64gb- £630-660

Competetive and pretty similar to the :apple:Apple Prices.
