Yeah I thought it was too at first but then i noticed you said:

90 days worldwide availability of 3G.

Whereas this says:
The Wi-Fi + 3G models of iPad will be available in April in the US and selected countries

So it looks like they never promised worldwide availability of the 3G version. <shrugs>

I'd be amazed if 'selected countries' didn't include the U.K.

Weren't we the first country (after the U.S.) to get the iPhone back in November 2007?

these myfi jobbies....

whats their battery life like?

so i buy this for £80 on payg, when i go on holiday, top it up by how much?? then use the credit up and afterwards leave it until i go on holiday or need the 3g again?

basically if i had that device my ipad would think its a normal wifi network??

so if that myfi was cheaper to buy than the 3g price difference it would make sense to go with that??

This has since been superseded by the new announcement regarding late April availability of both models in the UK.

I think that you are probably referring to this announcement made by Apple on the 5th of March:

Apple said:
iPad will be available in both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G models in late April in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. International pricing will be announced in April. iPad will ship in additional countries later this year.

just browsing and came across this site

http://dvdworldusa.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?cat=Top+Sellers&search=yes

claim to ship within 24 hours, VAT paid etc. 16gb Wifi is £500, £550 for 32gb and so on. Not sure if it includes shipping (Think it does??)

not toooooo bad. better than eBay.

Anyone had any experience of them?

I don't think so:

Single or double discs £1.95
Boxsets (3 or more discs) £3.95
DVD Players/Blu-ray Players/Games Consoles £20.00

Which one is it, the last one? If so, that's still good value.

Apparently VAT is paid, and duty? I'm not sure

This threads reminding me of the wait for the 1st iPhone. That was July in the US and November 9th in the UK!!!

This isn't as long a wait but it sure feels like it!!

Battery life on the Three one is not too bad. But for me the big plus is that it looks just like a wireless router. So I can use it with my Macbook Pro or the iPhone and the iPad when I get it. Even though I am getting a 3G iPad purely for the GPS. If the Three MiFi runs out of juice by any chance I can plug it in the laptop and it charges and also behaves like a dongle. One other big plus mentioned elsewhere is VOIP. As it behaves like a router to the iPhone I can use Skype voice. Something I cant do with the iPhones built in mobile internet. But as far as your concerned. If the MiFi is around £70 and the price difference of the wifi and 3G version of the iPad probably around £70 I doubt you would save anything.

I just ordered the 32GB from them. I rang them on Friday and they seem to be shipping them over to their UK offices and then reposting them, so you shouldn't get hit for duty - but best to email them to check just in case.

I still have questions I need answered regarding the 3G and the MiFi. I'd like to have a pay as you go service (currently offered by the 3G model and by the MiFi), but one that will carry over remaining credit into the next month. I need to know if they do that. If one does and the other doesn't, I know what I'm going for.

OK I did it.... Lack of UK announcement and total absence of Ireland in the prime 6 country list has pushed me over the edge...

Just bought a 64GB for €680 including shipping off eBay.

Now to spend a week wondering is it here yet ? is it here yet ? :D

And this has what to do with UK iPad news?

Well, in a very slight way:

iPad UK -> iPad -> OS 4.0 -> Current Beta -> Developers -> access to materials :)

Yes I know it's remote, but at least it is something to discuss.

But going back on topic, who else has bought from that DVD website?

Doesnt sound too bad, $680 is about £450

not bad, im still going to wait for the 3g though,

:apple:Mike

That was a horrible wait. I can remember seeing it in the Apple Store in New York in September and November seemed SO far off.

Although the release was pretty easy. Finished work and strolled over to the Apple Store in the Bullring. Maybe 20 people ahead of me. Queued for about 45 minutes maybe and then got to buy it. was it 6:02 that it went on sale??

Buying the 3G was a different story of course!

I heard this afternoon from a well known premier Apple reseller that the date will be 23rd April.

This is all he would tell me and Apple have been known in the past to change dates at the last moment.

BTW. the UK market for Apple is the second biggest after the USA.
