They stopped the £15 for 1GB that doesn't expire plan at the end of last year. You still might be able to find the dongles around that are on that price plan. I saw one in WH Smith the other day.

It should mention the £15 for 1GB on the box and it needs to be on a price plan called "TopUp and Go Mobile Broadband"

I might dig mine out again and see if its still valid. Could be useful after all

If you already have the SIM then it should work with no problems. They have only stopped making the packs on that price plan. If you manage to buy a box which includes that price plan then they will still honour it. I only activated mine last month and it works fine in my unlocked 3 mifi router.

I think your right. However I seem to remember you have to use it at least once in a 3 month period or it times out. I will have to check.

Evening...

Just returned from Manchester (Trafford) (nipped 250 miles round trip for donuts from KK) where I popped into Apple to see if they had any Intuos4 Tablets in :(

I was shocked by the amount of staff they had on, there must have been over 15 staff on the floor, and more popping in and out of the back. About 30 mins later most were not there any more leaving about 6 people on the shop floor?:confused::confused:

Questioned one of the guys and asked about pre-orders and if we will be able to queue, got a reply that started "of course we...." then it changed "er... well its yet to be decided" :p

I then said Ill see you in two weeks in the queue, to that I got "you will" :D

Maybe I'm reading too much into it. But hey, its nice to have a bit more hope.

Oh... and the donuts were so worth the journey :)

I could have told you they had no Intuos 4's in. I was in there very recently. They had some Bambo's in though. Where do you live as I know who stocks them in the North West. I got one about 6 months ago.

Since we got an Apple store in newcastle... all my apple shopping has been much easier :D

And being from the north, ill probably be one of about 6 people queueing for my iPad :D:cool: cool or what?

:apple:Mike

I'll be queuing at the Newcastle store, IF there's no pre-ordering. Not a big fan of queuing up outside for such events but for an iPad I'll be there if need be ;)

Depends on the time too.. eldon sqare wont open just for apple early depending on the day of launch it will have to be at the time eldon square opens... and its hectic as it is imagine an apple launch there

Don't be too sure of that. The iPhone 3GS launch at the Trafford Centre last year opened at 8am. But queuing was from 7am which is when one of the entrances to the centre was opened. I think the rest of the doors opened at 10am when the rest of the shops opened.

if you preorder can you wait outside the store and get it rather than have it delivered

*is there a charge for delivery to home

I would like to know why people queue instead of waiting for it at home. Is it true that you have to pay for the delivery? I didn't pay for my mac. If I remember well.

Now I am going to try to find news about the possible wifi issues. If it is a big problem it is not wise for me to buy it right now... I want to be happy like when I see the interface of the leopard or my ipod touch. They were such a good purchases...!!

I bet for just 2 weeks time waiting by the way.
The date release maybe this week., I knew that apple was not going to say the date last Thursday. They will be in the public eye because of the OS 4. This week they could be in the public eye again, and it would be for 3 weeks in a row! I have not time to know about microsoft LOL

First, you don't have to pay for shipping. It's been free shipping for orders over £78 for years now on the Apple Store. Secondly, some of us enjoy queueing up. For every product release I've queued for (Xbox 360, iPhone, iPhone 3G, Leopard) there's been a really great atmosphere. I've met a couple of really good people through product releases, and it's just fun to be around like-minded people who are in a great mood! I'm always glad the sociopaths stay at home. :D

Yeah when you put it like that it actually makes a lot of sense, and quite clever on Apple's part.

Not really clever. They are already going to be in the spotlight on Tuesday if the new MacBook line refresh comes to fuition.

Also if it and it does look like no or little pre-orders Apple will lose sales directly (tempted to purchase elsewhere) as a consequence from those that are not privilledged to live anywhere near a store. I know for certain that if Apple had announced euro prices & date, I would have certainly not bought from eBay.

Pre-ordering is also an essential tool for finding out the exact levels of demand. It also helps you to try and produce enough stock to fufill that demand and the where to distribute levels of stock if for example Manchester had greater demand than Birmingham or Lincoln.

So no, not clever - more happhazzard at this current stage.

It's very smart from apple from a brand awareness point of view, all this publicity for a number of products over a number of week, alot of people have got to notice it!

As for sales with apple I've found the majority of people I no with apple products wouldn't go for like products (defect to Microsoft) because they have a feeling this latest gadget is going to be a winner! And they wouldn't want to try it from any where else. Also I think the amount of orders lost to eBay would be a very small percentage to those who'll order online or queue up, as usual I bet they will come out with the generalfeeling that they've succseeded and all this waiting was to keep us on tenterhooks to purposely build the anticipation and give people time to research it!

same here. Even if its a few weeks away, having something concrete to plan against would have been enough to keep me away from importing.

i cant help but feel that for a company like apple who you only hear from occasionally, theyve been in the spotlight an awful lot recently, it seems weird having so much to expect from them, ipad/ipad us release/os 4/hype for uk release/macbook pros all in a couple of months....

i really hope you can reserve in store, but i bet you cant......

p.s. noone else on here from around mk is there

(trying to guage queue sizes) :p:p :D

If they don't have preorders or reservations for instore collection, I won't be buying. I'll get it in Canada in July instead. I'm not driving 100 miles in the middle of the night and standing in a line for hours without some sort of guarantee of an iPad. It's a shame because these events can be fun, but not this time.

i agree! i wouldnt mind if it was outside but its gonna be hell running through the shopping centre, will undoubtedly lead to arguing or fighting over people jumping queues....

plus if its a weekday ill probably not get the day off anyways :(

ive always wanted to go to a midnight launch or an early launch.... never have

I know what you mean, I saw a fight break out at a PS3 launch because of queue jumpers (people waiting for hours at a Sony Store only to find out at 7am that there were only 12 consoles being delivered, 6 of which were already reserved, it was mass hysteria!).

The only midnight launches I've been to are for games, GTA and more recently Call of Duty MW2 -those were fun, although stock levels were good which meant most people went home happy and the atmosphere was good.
