Here's some cruelty :( I will scream. I don't know how sad someone could be to do this. It's a joke to my sanity.

What about import taxes and VAT that could add a considerable extra amount to pay on the doorstep when it's delivered?

Bought plenty of tech goods from abroad (mainly USA and East Asia) and never had to pay an import duties on it. If it's marked as a gift, I believe you can escape paying them.

Of course, this may require a degree of moral flexibility. That being said, if you're paying UK tax rates for everything else, I'm sure you're not too fussed about the morals of denying the bastards in the treasury another unfounded wodge of notes from your wallet.

I still have questions I need answered regarding the 3G and the MiFi. I'd like to have a pay as you go service (currently offered by the 3G model and by the MiFi), but one that will carry over remaining credit into the next month. I need to know if they do that. If one does and the other doesn't, I know what I'm going for.

No it doesn't carry over with Three unfortunately. I seem to remember with Vodafone you pay for an amount and that lasts till you use it up. But I found the coverage where I am was crap.

I heard this afternoon from a well known premier Apple reseller that the date will be 23rd April.

If it was so soon why are they being so coy if it was so soon ?

It's not like Apple is a demure princess with a long dress & chastity belt, keeping the allure of the ipad a secret... It's more like a prostitute who's given us all a glimpse of the goods but won't tell us the price :D

I'll be annoyed with myself if it turns out to be the 23'rd or if it is substantially cheaper than the €680 i have paid.

On brightside my tracking number has just been emailed to me :D

Is that like an Apple tart? :D

Now that's true payg, exactly what I want - I had looked into mifis about a month ago and similar but couldn't find one that did carry over data allowances. I'm sure I looked at Vodafone too and found they didn't carry over either. Anyone know different for sure and can provide links where I can buy such a true payg mifi thing ?

It looks like Voda might have changed their policy. I bought a dongle to try about nine months ago and at that time I think you got 1Gb for £15 but it lasted till used up. I used it several times over a period of around 6 months. I didn't use it much due to poor 3G coverage where I live. But looking at their website it seems they have gone for the timeout in a month option as well now.

@ctk27 I'm sure that's just modified US store using Safari's web inspector. The UK store uses "Add to basket" not "Add to cart" - it's fake.

I was told that if I get a Mifi unlocked, I can put my iPhone's O2 sim card in it. Anyone able to confirm?

I fear that's the way data dongles / mifis / whatever are going to go now - no roll over of data. Which is a massive pain for me as I'd take months to use up even 1GB for what I would need it for. Which would be once a week for about twenty minutes, and that's it. ATM I use my 3gs and the included data allowance, but the iPad would be a better experience for that particular situation.
I have a jailbroken 1st gen iphone with mywi that I could stick a payg sim with data in, if I could find one that would allow data to last until I used it all up. It would be a slow data speed, but better than nothing in a pinch.
The thing that puts me off a 3g iPad (if it ever appears, lol) is the lack of roll over of data as I'd be such a low volume user, but use it regularly. If we are to assume such data tariffs would follow the current trend that is.

This is all he would tell me and Apple have been known in the past to change dates at the last moment.

BTW. the UK market for Apple is the second biggest after the USA.

Any word on whether there will be pre-orders/store reservations or is it in-store on the day only?

They stopped the £15 for 1GB that doesn't expire plan at the end of last year. You still might be able to find the dongles around that are on that price plan. I saw one in WH Smith the other day.

It should mention the £15 for 1GB on the box and it needs to be on a price plan called "TopUp and Go Mobile Broadband"

eBay if used with a degree of intelligence is mostly safe, but your always gonna get thieveing dirty b---ards, it just the way of the world.

One thing to be prepared for is uk customs, my ipads been there since the 6th. They re not in any hurry at all.
