Hmm I'm wondering if I should go to Regent St now. At least it's not in a shopping centre and (in theory) it being the flagship store they should have a decent level of stock there.

I know what you mean, I saw a fight break out at a PS3 launch because of queue jumpers (people waiting for hours at a Sony Store only to find out at 7am that there were only 12 consoles being delivered, 6 of which were already reserved, it was mass hysteria!).

The only midnight launches I've been to are for games, GTA and more recently Call of Duty MW2 -those were fun, although stock levels were good which meant most people went home happy and the atmosphere was good.

Lol. Both of the games above, I just walked into ASDA (fosse park its massive) and picked it up at 00:00:01. No queue..

id choose regent over westfield (dunno about bluwater)

at least the queue is what it is, im hoping that everywhere will have stock, presumably thats why were delayed worldwide to build up a big pile of stock

as jonny said above i envisage that it will be a mad scramble to get to the store, so hours of potential waiting ruined.... will totally take the fun out of it for me anyway.....

would love to go to a launch though.... maybe something like the next gen console....

If you preorder and choose home delivery what courier delivers it and also does it arrive at your day very early like same time it is available for public or can it arrive anytime of the day.

I don't know what to do I'm likely gonna be buying 2 3G models but do I not need to get a a special sim for it and get the whole 3G data plan ............. To which I think you maybe able to setup in the apple store with 02 or something.

Another thing is my dad is off on a Thursday (one is for him) , so chances of it being a Thursday launch are incredibly slim , so should he take the day off or should we go Home delivery

Arghhghgghgh help us out UK macheads

itll be ups mate.

problem is we dunno when their gonna be out, id of said get it in store, but again we dont know how the 3g ones will work out yet, so you may have to go instore.

they may come pre-loaded with a sim and you activate via itunes a la iphone 2g

If they are advertising it as sim free I suspect it will be just that. I am buying a 3G one and dont even want a sim in it.

i agree! i wouldnt mind if it was outside but its gonna be hell running through the shopping centre, will undoubtedly lead to arguing or fighting over people jumping queues....

plus if its a weekday ill probably not get the day off anyways :(

ive always wanted to go to a midnight launch or an early launch.... never have

Every launch I have been to with Apple has been a very civilised affair. As I posted earlier. The Trafford centre opened early especially for the event. No other shoppers there. A very nice atmosphere. Even free coffee and nibbles. I didn't mind the 250 mile round trip at all.

Me neither, 250 miles for the round trip is nothing when you know whats at the end of it :D

Totally agree about the Apple launches, it makes a huge difference when you have a company who looks after their customers. And Trafford is a great place to be queuing up. Lets hope starbucks are there again :p

And at that time of morning the M6 > M61 > M60 was a breeze. A nice breakfast then join the group patiently waiting and chatting outside the Apple store. Even when the store opened it wasn't a bun fight. People were let in a few at a time which meant the store didn't get silly, but the queue still went down quickly. Those waiting were shown the new phone by staff who enthusiastically answered questions.

Could be different this time though. Who knows :)

The price estimates I like the look of are the ones MacWorld have estimated, they seem to have worked out % of previous apple stuff, like the iPhone and MacBook and applied the conversion to the iPad.

If that's close to being correct I'll be picking up a 64gb. Right now, I've got 12gb of photos that I'd love to put on this device, plus 20gb of music. Couple that with loads of Apps, and it's going to be taken up pretty quickly. :)

It might be more economical memory wise than you think. If it's anything like the iPhone that is. I have a lot of photos in Aperture that I sync onto the iPhone. They get optimised for the iPhone before transfer and take up a lot less space than the originals. I am hoping the iPad will do this too.

That would be great. Right now I'm still working on my trusty iPhone 3G 8gb, so there's currently no space for my 1000s of photos from over the years. I think this would give me the motivation to get back into taking pictures again, as I'd really stopped, because no one ever saw them. I think if I'm going to put my 20gb of music on, and a few movies now and then, as well as my photos and Apps I'd probably best still go for the 64gb. I've also got a £100 gift card for the Apple Store that I received for Christmas I still havent spent, so that'll allow me the case of my choice --- probably something nice in leather (I think the Apple one looks a bit cheap).

I'm going to get one but cannot be sure which one until the price details come out. I'm not sure if I would really use the 3g on this. Since the device is not pocketable I am only likely to get it out and use in places with wifi (Home and Work).

I am hoping for a Saturday release or I will not be able to get to the Apple store to get it. I would like to preorder it but the time scale is short now and I am not sure how likely Apple are to offer preorder.

I want to get the sketchbook app and a stylus. I have seen vids of this on youtube and it looks good. I also want to get numbers and keynote to use at work.

I fell in love with this device and I hope it lives up to my expectations of it now.

I have no Wifi at work, that place is more secure than Fort Knox, and I don't have an iPhone either so the 3G is a good option for me, especially I tend to travel for work.

The pricing looks good apart from the 16gb-32gb 3G JUMP at £122 especially when all you need to pay for the 64gb is only £83 more

Agreed.. I think the jump from 16GB to 32GB is abit heavy, particularly given that the subsequent gap between 32GB and 64GB is nowhere near as much..

I'd be a little disappointed if those prices turned out to be true. I'd be hoping to pay less than £600 for a 32GB 3G model..
