I think most people are buying iTunes cards from eBay etc. same as you buy here, except US ones. Use that to kick the account off. But as the iPad will sync with whichever account your logged into I cant see how you would be able to keep all your US and UK apps together. Might end up an either or.

Same :) can someone explain how they do it? Sorry if its been posted already :) which i probably has been!

I saw that first thing this morning 20 at £400 each and zero rating. Out of interest I emailed him and said would he be ok for a collect in person to check it over and to pay cash. Not really interested as I want a 3G one. But this was his reply.

It's not listable now. Wonder if it was a scam?

I emailed the guy the same question and got the exact same response lol.

Definitely a scam.

That's what is holding me off opening an iTunes US account.

Will iTunes sync apps from 2 different accounts onto a single iPad or will only apps from Account 1 or 2 go to the iPad/iPhone etc.

Fine if your starting fresh, but if you already have an abundance of apps from your legit country, it could be a pain in the rectum if you have to choose to lose / non sync them because of different accounts etc.

So can anyone confirm how it works ?

Have a look at this earlier on in this thread

I presume it works the same as it does on the iPhone? I have apps from UK and US. It tells me when they need updating and just prompts me for the appropriate password from that country.

So it's not totally seamless but apps from both stores happily co-exist on the one device.

I have a US and a UK account.. on my mac, I can download apps from any store (US/UK) I log in to...

Then when you sync to your iPhone/iPad, it will sync all apps from all accounts .. simple :)

On your iPhone, you can also log in to your respective iTunes account, and download... apps will then sync back to your desktop iTunes as usual.

If an app has an update, then you must log in to your respective iTunes account.

If you bought a (paid) app from the US store using account X, if you want to get it from the UK store with account Y, then you must pay for it again.

Apps are associated with an iTunes account.

I've only downloaded FREE apps from the US store to load onto my iPad. I can always get them on the UK store and then buy any apps I want from the UK store when the iPad app store goes live.

Hope that makes sense :)

I've had a UK iTunes account for years, and I just set up a US one a couple of days ago. Everything's working fine. All my UK-bought apps are still there, and the US ones I've added just get grouped with them.

Everything went on my iPhone fine at the next sync (make sure you sign back into your UK iTunes before you sync though or I think your phone starts thinking it's American :D).

All it takes to set up a US accoint is to logout of your UK account, click on "create account" and then fill out the forms. Just put in a random US address and zipcode, and when it asks for a payment option put in a US gift card code. I got mine on ebay.

I'm quite surprised that this is news to people. I've been doing this on my ipod touch for ages now.

I still have $60 in my US account that I hardly use now that the UK app store is up and running. So that'll be handy for kicking off ipad usage, especially as I like downloading stuff directly to the device

Here is some further information about setting up a US iTunes account which is useful to know -you don't even need a CC or GiftCard number.

-Log out of UK account

-Go to US iTunes Store

-Try to download a free App

-Now, when it asks you to set up an account, there will be an extra payment option which isn't CC or GiftCard, namely "none". You can now continue to set up a US account which is perfect for free Apps ;)

Note: I am at work right now and giving this info off the top of my head, but I am pretty sure that it is correct.

Actually looking at that youtube video it looks very bleak for the 3G model in the UK :( He says it's not expected to be released till June or July. If were lucky and there are no holdups. The US will get theirs about the same time as we get the WIFI one I suspect. Can't see why if the damned thing is sim free. If he wants to offer a "super deal" for data he can send it along later and I will file it with the rest of the spam. Surely it should be up to us who we go with if we indeed want to go with anyone. I only want it for the GPS. If I could use a GPS on the bluetooth would be fine. But no chance.

I hope that they choose to release the 3g at the same time as the wifi. I'd prefer to get a 3G pad and wait for data plans to get introduced than have to wait longer for my iPad. But I dont think that they will do that :( they have IMO, made a bit of a mess of the world wide release. They should have set a date for the rest of the world either before or at the US launch. Because actually the longer you give some people to mull over a decision the more people will decide maybe they don't wanna drop £400-500 on something they don't really need.
Bit of a mockery. Really want my iPad. Soon.

diverting away from iPad for a min - I'm getting Sky+ HD this friday. What wireless surround sound, preferably 5.1 system will work? I know that the system must have an optical input for better effect and use.

Erm this is the ipad section of this forum so please shut up and learn how a forum works. This is not called the random stuff thread. Its the Ipod uk thread so this does not belong in here at all and is completely off topic and in a forum you should be keeping all discussion on topic.

Well US account setup. iBooks, Pages & Keynote all downloaded. Great Stuff. So thats 45 specific ipad apps ready to be synced (excluding the 100 iphone apps).

Hi

I have apps from the Spanish and UK store, and yes you can keep them together. Not problem at all. The bad news are that when you want or have to update an app could be a bit messy. For example now my ipod touch is connected to the UK store, but I have apps I bought time ago in the Spanish store. If I update british apps, no problem. But if I try to update a spanish app, a message pops up saying that I only can purchase in the UK store or something similar.

Sometimes yo have to go to settings to manage your account and choose the other country (I don't remember the steps you have to follow) but I could update all of them.

Now I have 2 spanish apps without being update, I can´t be bothered!!

So think twice about buying another store apps if you don't want trouble...

First of all "xROBERTxDAVISx", I know how a forum works - I've been a forum moderator, administrator and user for quite a long time. I do not think you are qualified to tell me to shut up and remain on topic. The power remains with the forum moderators and staff. Secondly, it is their decision what to do with the post, or even award an infraction and/or warning. For your reference, if you look at the metrics and analysis of forums, you will find that that threads often contain approximately 15% non-relevant discussion. If this number were lower, i.e, the thread was strictly on topic, the thread would be very dull. Random-stuff threads never work because they become bloated and complete derail any specific point of the existence of the thread - that is why a forum exists to deliberate completely irrelevant discussions, i.e, Community Discussion in MacRumors' case.

I think you'll find that this thread is the "iPad UK news?" thread, and that even though there is little information available to use presently about it - a lot of people here are discussing pursing the iPad through means such as Bundlebox etc. - not inherently related to news about the UK iPad release. In this case, maybe the thread should be entitled: "How to attain the iPad if you don't live in the US"?

If you wish to police the forums, then be my guest, but at least evaluate the complete situation prior to deciding on action.

Been harassing apple store employees. One said thy apple won't sat date or price till the day before release. The other said the price range would be above the most expensie iPod touch and below the cheapest MacBook, so a range of between £320 and £800.

Conclusion: they all speculate as wildly as we do!
