Conclusion: they all speculate as wildly as we do!

Yup. I'd go along with that. Perhaps somebody who's worked for Apple can confirm but I don't think they're generally privy to any insider info.

I think the insider knowledge posted in these forums that comes from chats with Apple employees is often just speculation.

I remember calling my local store just after the release of the first iPod Nano and they had no idea what i was talking about. They kept me on hold while they checked the net and I could hear them saying "Wow, look at that thing" in the background... or words to that effect.

Been harassing apple store employees. One said thy apple won't sat date or price till the day before release. The other said the price range would be above the most expensie iPod touch and below the cheapest MacBook, so a range of between £320 and £800.

Conclusion: they all speculate as wildly as we do!

Between £320 and £800 then. Well, I am certainly going to sleep better at night knowing that. :p

Sorry, not being funny (funny peculiar that is), genuinely - it just made me laugh out loud when I read that. It's one hell of a margin. :)

You're right - it seems none of the mere mortal Apple store employees have got any idea what's happening and when. I don't know if that's comforting or not.

I am surprised they didn't throw in the release date as somewhere between now and Christmas as well

When comparing the price of products between the Apple US and UK store, in general the UK price is about 77% - 79% that of the US price. Therefore, I think a safe prediction would be along the lines of £389, £469 and £549 for the wifi models, respectively.

You WILL be close. The rumors say about 349, 429, 489 or something like that i think. I cant remember 100% what I read.

I am hoping its about 489 of the top one as im going for the 64GB if its near or under 500.

To be fair to the guy, he meant it was a min and max price as in the 16gb will be above 320, the 65gb+3g would be below 800, which would be slightly more useful if it wasn't wild speculation. It'd be nice to know the top price is under £800.

Has anyone heard anything about Apple securing any deals with UK publishers for iBooks? possible reason for the delay in any announcements maybe?

The rumours are just that... rumours.

Personally, I'd expect the base iPad to come in at anything from £379 to £439.

If it's higher or lower than those figures I'll be surprised. Pleasantly or not!

To make their ,,unbelieveable'' price true in the EU, they need to do it at US price * 0,75 + taxes . So that would be 449. Which is what my speculation would be like. And I don't think that that is really unbelieveable.

Here's my guess:
16GB wifi - 449,-
32 GB wifi - 539,-
64GB wifi - 629,-

3G
16GB: 565,-
32GB 656,-
64GB 745,-

Think I will be pretty close. Based on mid conversion rate from US > EU at 0.9%. Calculation used : ( US price * 0.75 ) * 1.2

Add me to the list of iPad owners purchased through ebay! :D

Just got back from collecting my 32gb in person. Had all the usual feelings of trepidation, doubt, etc. Wondering if I was mad handing over 550 notes to some guy I'd never met before but I needn't have worried. He was a top bloke, really nice. He bought it in San Diego - maybe we should start a list of where everyone's iPad was bought!, no? ok! :D

Of course, I haven't turned it on yet so I still have the small worry of it actually working but, hey, for the moment, I'm happy! :)

There's no one who's more excited or impressed by the iPad than I am, but I think those prices are just too high for it. £750? That's insane.

I'll be getting the 32GB 3G, assuming it's under £600. £600 is all I'm prepared to spend, I think...

Well, I just used the USD - EU conversion rate and added 19% tax to it. Or just find an item in the Apple US store and look for it in the UK one, gives you an insight too. Can't remember what product it was. It was the 2Tb time capsule or something.

I just tried to sign up for an account at the US iTunes store, put in a random address and was told that I would be sent an email for verification. This was like 20 minutes ago and no email. I thought these type of emails were automatic, but clearly not - I hope I haven't messed things up for myself! :(

ETA: Just realised that you must provide some form of valid payment. Evidently Apple have revised their previously relaxed policies here..

To open an iTunes Store account, you must provide a valid payment method, such as a credit card, and a valid billing address. The iTunes Store is not available in all countries. To open an account, your payment method and billing address must be from same country as the iTunes Store you use. You can also purchase from the iTunes Store using an iTunes Gift Card, iTunes gift certificate, or allowance. To learn how to create an iTunes Store account with a gift, see iTunes gift options.

Hmmm

I've been offered a 64gb iPad from the U.S for £465.25, and that includes delivery, However Im thinking about upgrading delivery, Does anyone know a descent delivery service thats quick and overly pricey?

WOAH! where the **** u get an offer like that????

Erm this is the ipad section of this forum so please shut up and learn how a forum works. This is not called the random stuff thread. Its the Ipod uk thread so this does not belong in here at all and is completely off topic and in a forum you should be keeping all discussion on topic.

Chill out mate the other guy has been on here longer than you and has seem to have alot of forum history :p , This forum isnt really like the other forums we have all been glued to our pcs refreshing the apple store and sharing our frustrations so in a kind of way we have gotten to know the other users and from time to time tend to drift away from the topic subject just because we have hee haw to speculate about .

So ......did anyone think the ending of Flashforward was a total "WTF" moment :D

I watched in Thursday, and I was truly horrified with Janis - told you you'd be surprised a couple of pages ago ;)

Hmm... watching the whole of Flashforward on the iPad will be a treat though. The series might have ended before it's released, potentially - though I doubt it, there's about 6 episodes left.
