Rec'd tracking info; so did my friend with the potential Paypal virtual card problem (we'll see how that plays out). Full info in sig.

I am receiving the red error text posted above so I'm assuming the shipping data just hasn't been handed off to UPS yet.

I wish UPS implemented a rule where if you said the word iPad they can just hand up on you. PLEASE STOP CALLING, YOU WILL GET IT ON SATURDAY IF THE SERVICE IS AVAILABLE IN YOUR AREA. END OF THREAD.

I wish UPS had better service, I also wish UPS would update their information correctly. The last package I received from UPS stated that it was in my local hub 3 1/2 hours before the current time was. It also showed delivered 2 hours before the driver showed up.

Maybe if UPS got their act together, people wouldn't have to call:)

I have been on and off the phone with both UPS and Apple all day and have come to the conclusion that UPS agents know nothing about the ongoings of Apple. I even spoke to one guy that is an Apple fan and he told me that they have no idea why there is a delay at Shipping point and they still do not have all the correct faxes needed for customs to ship these things out today. Apple when I tell them this, tells me they do not want these Ipads to get to the customer too early which is why there is a EXCEPTION on UPS tracking. So I will wait and see if this updates tonight and if this delivers on time by the 3rd. My shipment was timestamped 3:01am this morning...

But how else would you learn about "Five common items in your home...THAT COULD KILL YOU!"?

In other news, I'm still only Prepared for shipment. 8:31EST order, East Coast. NC, to be specific. I wonder if they'll utilize FedEx for some of us. It's definitely the obvious choice for Sat delivery here.

Hey Gwiynne...I'm outside of Charlotte...We 'could' raid the UPS hub...I bet they have a few hundred down there...

"..just give us the iPads and no one gets hurt.." :p

Hope they will deliver it on Saturday....

Just got off of the phone with International UPS with someone who seemed pretty intelligent or really confident in what she was saying, but she says that the ipad is a special delivery so it doesn't matter where you live or whether you have saturday delivery in your area you will receive your ipad on Saturday, April 3. :)

If thats true then I will forever love UPS.

Im a college student and our mailrooms close during the weekend. I thought that I would just have to wait until monday to get mine... But now after I read your post, I will just wait outside the mailroom (loading dock area) of my college until I get my iPad.

*Fingers Crossed*

Anybody else knows anything about saturday deliveries for colleges? I just cant wait until I get mine! :D:apple:

... do you think that instead of time of day ordered, it would be more a case of area being sent to that would be the logical order in which tracking numbers are being sent to people?

Yes, I think exactly that.

Speaking only from personal experience, Apple has used a number of shipping services here on the coast of Maine, but almost never FedEx. I can only guess why. UPS service here is well established and robust, using local drivers who pick up deliveries from a dispatch center in the state capitol, Augusta, roughly one hour away. FedEx service seems more spotty. Other services like Airborne seem to rely on local contractors using private vehicles. So I would guess that Apple's choice of UPS in this particular instance is based on real-world experience and/or local infrastructure on the ground.

Why is everyone freaking out? They will be here on Saturday. I haven't gotten my tracking number yet. 32Gb, ordered like 15-20 minutes after launch.

I'm in Durham but I go to Charlotte for concerts. :) (Coheed and Cambria next month!)

Alright, got my tracking number at 6:50pm est but still can't be located so UPS doesn't have it yet.

I ordered a 32 gb at 8:57am est on the 12th and shipping to Columbus, Ohio.

I work at the airport in Columbus that UPS flies into and since I have to work on Saturday I'm having it delivered to the office and hopefully it'll be an early delivery for me!

He drives a truck, big, no, only big in the eyes of who is waiting for a package. To these guys, with 5000 vehicles+, to deliver 500000 Saturday, assuming AM. EXP. doesn't get involved, isn't a big deal. Think XMAS, then you will grasp it!

Sorry, yeah, that was my point.

I misread the post I quoted as you trying to say the opposite (that it was a big huge thing to them).

Got my tracking number at 11:15 am CST but as of now still no tracking updates. It says info for this tracking number not yet entered. I guess UPS hasnt picked it up yet. Anybody else in same boat?

For those trying to correlate tracking number with order date, you may be setting the wrong expectation. I believe tracking numbers and shipments are going out geographically as to time of delivery from shipping location.

If the iPad is shipping from Connecticut, then Apple is not going to ship to NJ today so that it gets delivered tomorrow.

I would rather see what expected delivery dates are. If UPS/Fedex has their own delivery date.

I've seen this theory a lot, but I saw several people from NC who got their tracking # early this morning, and I didn't get mine till after 6pm. I think all we can say with any certainty is that the pattern is not knowable. :)

Also 64GB, ordered at 8:33est, says it ships tomorrow (to MA) got the email 1 minute before 6pm this evening

I ordered on the 13th, and it STILL hasn't shipped... It's stuck in "Prepared To Ship" I'm going nuts!!!

I don't think you should worry unless you get to Friday with no change. I ordered in the first 2 minutes, and mine hasn't shipped either. Everyone's will deliver on Saturday. Some will take less travel time, but still won't arrive before Saturday. If yours is "prepared for shipment" now, you'll get it Saturday.
