Ya'll will have to forgive me. Please know that I understand how you all feel.

I'm excited to get my iPad too. But since I'm going for the 3G model, I don't have a dog in Saturday's hunt for the UPS/FedEx trunk. And, frankly, as an "outsider" looking in, the hysteria in this topic (and others) borders on the insane.

I know... I know... If I was worried MINE wasn't going to be delivered on Saturday, I'd be concerned too. But I urge ya'll to try to take a moment to read the last several pages of this thread (and others) with a little perspective. I think you'll realize that getting your iPad two days late isn't exactly the end of the world.

And, FWIW, the same hysteria was active with new model iPhone shipments too. The incessant comparing of UPS tracking results, etc... etc. Guess what?! Everyone got their iPhones! :)

Just sayin'!

Now I'll go hide in a corner while the hate messages pour in.

Concerning those of us who still only have "Billing Information Received"
After doing some searching, this is what I have come up with:

Officially (from UPS's website):

UPS has received the electronic transmission of shipment detail from the shipper and a label has been created for your shipment. UPS does not actually have possession of this package until there is an additional scan on the package.

Unofficially (lots of forum posts and seller information from all over the web):

1. Receiving an item that has always said "Billing information received" is not extremely-rare though obviously not common.

2. There is a chance that the iPad was just not scanned when picked up. There seems to be a consensus that, if that is the case, tracking information wouldn't show up until it is delivered/out for delivery. This seems off to me as, even missing the pick-up from the factory scan, I would think it would get scanned at other points. Also, I am not sure if every individual iPad is being scanned or if they are doing them in groups. That being said, I don't know which is more likely: one missed group or a lot of individual iPads.

Alot of you are lucky. I am one of the few that the tracking number still shows billing information received.

Thats all, no origin scan, nothing.....
I'm in exactly the same situation. Wonder if I should call Apple. On the other hand, they are probably aware of this and it might not be a problem.

I watched this thread from post #1. I can finally say that my iPad has shipped. Hopefully everything is good for the 3rd. Instead of harassing UPS this time, I decided to reserve a unit also just incase.

Thank you.

If my UPS scan is this how would I figure out which flight?

I'm missing the point. You bought one. It shipped, and it might not get to you on Saturday...Monda it deff. will. But yet you're still gonna get the 2nd one on Saturday cause you can't wait till Monday?

Why?

Thank you.

Track using this: https://iship.com/trackit/track.aspx

And copy - with that time, your iPad probably isn't on a flight yet. You would have to correlate the times with the UPS flights on flightaware - and realize not all of the flight are active yet as it is far away from when their IFR flight plans become active.

Where is my iPad

So, does anyone remember what flight our iPad is on if it says Departure 4/2/2010 4:10am out of Guangzhou, China? And then I wonder if it will land just a couple miles from me as I live right near the Anchorage Ted Stevens International Airport and then leave and head to KY just to be sorted and then flown back to Anchorage.... Any Ideas???

I hate this...I have bitten all of my nails off and now just have stubs... I am 46 and oversee 9 retail locations with approximately 150 employees and yet I am acting like a kid in a candy store, is there something wrong with this picture???

You think I will still get it by Saturday?

Just spoke with a UPS guy outside. Funny, he knew nothing about the iPad delivery date on Sat. He also said only part time drivers work weekends and all the full time drivers work weekdays. I told him if he wants some overtime, he might want to find out. He said he would because the part time drivers will need help if the demand is anything like the iPhones.

I got the email as well its its complete BS.

I will stop at nothing to get my shipment on saterday. I dont care if I have to break into UPS. Im not sitting around until monday while everyone else get theirs saterday, its completely not fair to those that pre-order and were quoted the april 3rd ship, they should have either informed us at order time or set up some sort of way for us to pick them up on saterday.

Im thinking of ways I can get around this am already calling Apple and UPS and trying to get in touch with my local driver...anyone have any other ideas?

Hey man. (This isn't a hate message lol).

I understand where you are coming from - there are some people that are going crazy crazy into it, and I guess you could call me one, but more of what I am doing here is giving people information. I know that either way my iPad is coming Saturday, and I was not worried the least bit. It was a little bit scary with how close they did cut it, but other than that I knew it would update sooner or later.

Now also realize that there are some people who are freaking and keep calling UPS and Apple asking inane questions that they can't answer. I am DEF not one of those people. I called a friend who worked at UPS and asked a question about our area's Saturday Delivery cutoff for international shipments, but that is it - not because I worry haha.

But I would agree that there are some people who go overboard. But those who show their updates and are just excited- that is what I like to see. And that is why I am giving all of this info and insight.

No I dont work for UPS (I am 16) but I do ship a lot and I know how convoluted UPS and their systems can be at times. And I am an aviation nerd and student pilot so I know a bit how flightaware and similar services work.

I also just have that "knack" for liking to help people. I will even go into stores sometimes and I will see someone not being waited on by a customer service rep, or I will walk by and hear someone ask a question to their partner, and I will just chime in and give some simple advice to help. I am not trying to canabilize the company's sales staff or anything, but I like to help people and that is just me.

And that is what I am doing here. I am helping people to understand and to share info with each other, because if I was on the opposite end, I would sure say "Hell, that is pretty darn nice of him." and that it would be great to be put at ease and to get excited by that initiative and help, and the atmosphere it creates.

So even if four or five people actually "benefit" from my posts, thats okay. It is all in knowing that I had fun posting and collaborating, as well as knowing that I may have helped someone who had a question and didnt know half of this stuff that we (I having no time in the past few days for nothing else) have found out.

So I agree there are plenty, and yes we all know we will be getting them - but it doesn't hurt to let our inner fanboy out once in a while to have some fun and excitement :)

Haha. It should be: UPS21

It has departed, it just won't go live until it gets closer to US airspace :)

Just got an update which only shows up on iship.com, I hope they didn't drop the cargo out the door of the airplane in Korea! :>

"Why are you so far away from me. I need help and you're way across the sea"

Wow, well then I guess the flightplan info on flightaware was wrong - UPS21 DOES stop in INC before continuing to PANC Anchorage.

Muhr I apologize, I just never thought they would think about putting them on a hopper and air transit connect flight... so yea, UPS61 stopped in KR.

That air transit scan just means the plane landed and has your package on it, but the package was never removed from the aircraft for sorting or anything.

EDIT: It is UPS61... 21 is still enroute from Guangzhou... if anyone has that departure scan later than these....

Just in ...

Just got this...

So does this mean the flight stops over in Korea?
