If that was the case it wouldn't have the orgin scan. That doesn't happen until it does more than get a computer generated label and into UPS hands.

I'm of course basing this on my years of stalking shipping tracking! LOL!!

I was going to say the same thing... Once you see an Origin Scan, that means UPS has it - in my past experiences...

In speaking with a contact of mine that I have at Apple, they have not officially released any of these to UPS to ship but rather scanned them and are holding so they actually deliver on April 3rd. They in fact will get them out in time to deliver on the 3rd, but UPS has not actually gotten these items in hand yet. Makes perfect sense since they dont want anyone getting this earlier than the 3rd.

UPS is going to hold these States side for staging. We saw it with the 3GS. Trying to get everything through customs at once would be difficult. There will probably be multiple planes, etc.

Just got a shipment email with a ups number. I ordered a 32gb wifi on 3/12 around 10:45 am CST.

I ordered at 8:34am on launch date and still have not received the email. Checking my online account it says Prepared for Delivery.

I would hope I get something within the next couple days.

Wish I could join the shipped club. Ordered mine within 8 minutes of going on sale with my Amex. Never pre-authed or charged. Status show prepared. I can't believe I am worried about this. Usually not this anal.

Realize that your iPad can easily get from China to your door in less than 2 days. There is still no hurry.

Well thanks for busting my bubble. I was all set to charter a boat to China so we could intercept UPS and bring them back ourselves ;)

The way people are sounding so worried if they don't have a tracking number yet, I was wondering. :)

I know from past launches and pre-orders that Apple definitely doesn't ship in the order that the sales were made. They might do it regionally or some other way, but the minute you order doesn't seem to have a lot to do with when it ships.

Me too. I ordered a 32gb Wi-Fi version at 06:23 AM PDT on March 12, and just received my shipment notification from Apple with the UPS tracking number. The case and dock ordered at the same time still show shipping by April 3.

I am in Texas. I did not opt for expedited shipping.

I have to laugh at this point--I ordered within two minutes of launch and I still have no tracking #. So much for my lightning-fast order skills.

Meanwhile, my friend who ordered a few minutes later is having problems because he used a PayPal virtual credit card #, and he's having other transactions this week using that method fail. Apple won't let him switch the payment method since they got an auth a few weeks ago. (i.e., they can't do anything until the transaction actually charges and then (probably) gets declined.) He's still in Prepared for Shipping also. We are both East Coast, 16GB WiFi.

In short, early birds not always getting the worm. :)

(Yes, I realize there is a good chance we will both be fine, even my friend with the payment issue. No, I don't need to chill, I'm actually quite calm. Thanks, though. )

I just got the "shipped" e-mail from Apple for my 64gb. The tracking number isn't in UPSs system so I can't tell where it is right now.

I remembered the site that had the flight listed and went and checked it out...

I'd guess, based on available info, that iPads shipping from China today will be on UPS81, headed in to AK tonight or tomorrow on this flight...

On calling UPS once again, they still do not have the required paperwork necessary to ship these Ipads to the US and they are in a HOLD pattern until they receive the required documents. UPS says now that if they do not get the documents by today this could delay it even longer than April 5th..

Just curious, why are you calling UPS at this point?

I was calling because there is a message on the tracking area that states EXCEPTION LOUISVILLE KY and I wanted to know what that meant and if it was going to be delayed. UPS says one thing and Apple says another at this point.

Apple said it will deliver by/on April 3. As long as you get Saturday delivery, you'll get it the third.

There is no delivery exception listed on my tracking information. Could you post a screen-shot of yours?

Must be the 16GB only right now.

I ordered both a 16GB and a 64GB at the same time on day one and the 16 has a tracking number while the 64 still says "prepared for shipment'
