iPad shipped, Apple just sent out tracking numbers!

Just called UPS because my iPad has no exceptions, but it is showing still in Anchorage. He said they have a special arrangement with Apple and if I had Saturday delivery in my area I would get it on Saturday. If not, then Monday. Then he checked and said I definitely had Saturday delivery in my area, so I will get it then.

Here is my UPS info:

I have the same status. I think we are all on the flight from Korea and the Alaska scans have not updated yet.

And I called just to see exactly what they are saying to us:

He said "From Apple" immediately.

He said "And you want to know when you will get it?"

then he said "Let me look into the tracking and the packages notes that apple put on it..."

then he said it will be delivered BY Monday, but it may come earlier.


So I think people are blowing this a little out of preportion.

I am going to say right here and now that I am done posting on this thread

I was afraid people would go nuts and this is exactly what happened. I will still answer coherent questions and concerns or PMs sent to me, but icant keep explaining the same thing over and over again with different wording.

YOU WILL GET YOUR IPAD. that is all I have left to say for now.

Just spoke with a "higher up" at UPS who got very friendly with me. She said every other call she gets all days is about the iPad. ON HER OWN ACCORD she said that she is not just saying this to "shut me up" but on most of the shipments now they are not going to be scanned until they are at our local hubs. She said with World Ease there has been so many shipments they have not been able to handle scanning everything. She said she didn't know exactly where it was because her system doesn't tell her but can CONFIRM that it departed on time and we WILL get them tomorrow.

I am stilling on "Billing Info" and I ordered within the first 2 hours.

my UPS driver told me yesterday that they have ipads in their hub RIGHT NOW.

It is still in Billing Received mode because they haven't scanned it yet. Your ipad is likely within minutes of you at this very moment but is being held until tomorrow.

When I called a few days ago, they gave me a Sat delivery window of 9:00am to 7:00pm. I have to do a 7 hour drive on Sat from the Bay Area to SoCal and I really don't want to start it at 7:00pm. I'm seriously thinking of driving around my area starting at 9:00 and stopping every UPS driver I see. :D

At the very least, Departure Scan means it departed. So no, it's not in China. And that timestamp was 4:10pm yesterday EST. You are most likely on the shipment that is arriving in KY right about now.

Youa re going to have a long wait since it is not April 3rd yet....
 
If nothing else, I'm viewing this as a learning experience if I ever go through a launch again (I think at this point I'll do in-store). All we've really learned is that no two conversations with UPS customer support reps are identical, and that UPS tracking is wildly erratic.

That said: Depending on how this plays out, we'll all be back to high-fiving each other tomorrow if we all get that magic 'out for delivery'. :)

Heck, I think the mood will lighten immediately on the next round of shipping updates.

Flight 43 just landed

Ok, flight 43 just landed 5 minutes ago. Does anyone have an idea of what flight my ipad might take to get back to me here in Anchorage??
 
It says on the truck. I called UPS and it was confirmed by the automated system.

Good to hear! Thanks! I trust Apple and that I'll get it tomorrow. Just nerve wrecking but fun to see how many of us are waiting for the iPad.
