some accidentally sent me a pm and said:

"Just spoke with a "higher up" at UPS who got very friendly with me. She said every other call she gets all days is about the iPad. ON HER OWN ACCORD she said that she is not just saying this to "shut me up" but on most of the shipments now they are not going to be scanned until they are at our local hubs. She said with World Ease there has been so many shipments they have not been able to handle scanning everything. She said she didn't know exactly where it was because her system doesn't tell her but can CONFIRM that it departed on time and we WILL get them tomorrow."

What a nice lady. :)

Mine just got to Louisville :D

ARRIVAL SCAN

Now is there any certain flight going from the main hub to my sub hub.
( Northwest Indiana near Chicago ) Or is it going to be shipped to my sub hub via truck since it is only a short 4 hours away?

If a flight, does anyone know the flight it might be on?

Another who's been sitting in KY for a couple days:

LOUISVILLE, KY, US 04/02/2010 1:50 P.M. IMPORT SCAN
LOUISVILLE, KY, US 03/31/2010 1:36 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN

Should be on tonight's flight out of KSDF to KONT. :D

For all us UPS 21 flyers, does anyone know what the flight number of the one going to LA is?

Doesn't matter. Once it gets to KY then all of the normal UPS flight routes are used.

After you get a departure scan one your status from KY, go to flightaware.com and search the airport KSDF - it's Louisville. Then cLick on departures and look for a flight on UPS to Cali that has a time close to your departure scan :D

why oh why would it go to alaska and then kentucky.. they should have just flown south to seattle and dropped it off

Haha it is cheaper to run ops from a central location, everything is there - no need for an even larger fleet to support two operations, and a central hub allows for processing and localization of all headquarters operations :)

I suppose those bound for Florida might find themselves on UPS 3332. I can't see anything coming from KSDF to KJAX (which is my home airport) at all. So maybe my iPad will be hopping a truck in Orlando for the drive north to Jacksonville?

No, wait, that can't be right. I think I just confused myself. That flight should be in the air, but it's not.

Okay. Wow. There is a UPS flight - daily - from KSDF to KJAX. It's early tomorrow morning. Seems like that's cutting it close. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS1322

Errr....from the looks of that flight it left at 4ish AM TODAY. I don't think I was on that flight.

Yea everyone needs to make sure that you understand - the flights on FlightAware go off of when their flightplan is filed. The shipping and logistics team at UPS do NOT file their flightplans until 4-5 hours before the flight departs. It ensures that operations can be handled in real time and the flight can be as on time as possible.

So we won't really know what flights they are going out on until sometime around 11PM-2AM EST tonight.

Me personally, I already know that my airport doesn't handle UPS flights directly. Rather it goes (on a flight I know about, and its timetable) to KBUF Bufallo an hour west of here, then gets driven over and the truck gets here around 5 AM. Then trucks go out by 7:45 AM.

You can look at PAST flights on flightaware to get an idea of what flight yours might take. Look at last weeks Friday night / Saturday morning flights and that should be an indication :D

That isn't cutting it close at all - that is normal, actually. Many flights from WorldPort don't depart until after 2 AM - my flight for all of my packages doesn't usually leave until about 3:45-4:15 AM. Remember that the cut off for UPS delivery vehicles is 8 AM with larger areas going sometimes with multiple waves at 8 AM, 10 AM, and I heard once 12 noon depending on the shipping volume and flight delays...

This is the latest on mine...

That makes total sense. I forget these are 24/7 operations. I am not worried. I'm sure I'll see UPS tomorrow. Hopefully early. :)
