I was in your boat, ended up buying a MS Anywhere 2 on Amazon for 50, I like it much better than my Magic Mouse 2. The extra buttons are a big help in iPadOS.
Maybe this will help, I saw it on another thread.Well I finally tried it all out, and I am very sad to report that my 10.5” iPad Pro won’t connect to my Magic Trackpad 2 because it uses too much power to be supported by the Lightning port. Even though it contains its own very capable built in battery.
Honestly, I have to say, I’m really very frustrated by all of this. I’ve been sending feedback about mouse support for literally years now, and even suggested it to them as an accessibility option if nothing else (I have some upper back, shoulder and wrist problems that pretty much make it a necessity for me when I’m trying to use my iPad at my desk for any period of time more than a few minutes).
The Magic Trackpad 2 and Magic Mouse 2 are the two devices I happen to own and also the two pointing devices I happen to like the best. They’re not cheap either, and they’re freaking made by Apple for goodness sakes. The fact that they’re specifically excluded from being supported on my iPad, and seemingly the only two devices that are specifically excluded, after I’ve waited for this, is just so frustrating to me. Honestly I’ve never actually been so disappointing by something Apple did until now, which says a lot. And it’s about an accessibility feature, of all things.
Anyway, sorry for the little rant...I just had to vent! I guess I’m not as optimistic as you are that they’ll include support for the mouse and trackpad in a point release...
