Yup, I said that.
Best Buy is not supposed to use the preorders for store inventory. They are supposed to fulfill all preorders before they start to sale the devices to the general public. Now if they do that, I don't know. But that's how we did it and that came down from the Headquarters in Minnesota.
The issue with preorders is Best Buy just plain out don't get enough phones in to fulfill all the preorders that the specific store has. iPhones is a high demand item. Therefore Best Buy gets a lot of preorders and rightfully so. The issue is employees of the store...even the GM never know how many, if any...iphones they will receive for the actual release date. So they continue taking preorders all the way up until the day before release. Like I said ...Best Buy's motto regarding preorders is "You're guaranteed a phone. But we can't guarantee you'll get the phone on the release date."
Best Buy stores never know how many iphones they're getting, until shipment comes. I saw it where we had 15 preorders one time and only 5 preordered phones came in. Needless to say the customers were pissed. It's like this with every phone preorder that Best Buy does, it's just that with iphones its worst because the demand is a lot higher. Samsungs used to be that way, but not anymore. They always have an extra one or two of those laying around.
Hopefully they got their act together with this one. But i know people had issues with the Note 10 preorders too with Best Buy. They might come through..idk. But I do think that if you selected delivery you may be a lot better than someone that preordered in store.
Anyone else besides me doing in store pick up on Friday at Best Buy? Just curious as to when we should expect a notification for ready for pick up for that day or should just go to the store for when they open. Definitely taking a chance with Best Buy. Wish there was a way to check that even for shipping to the store. Any luck for anyone with that?
I can't recall off hand. If there was, it wasn't as many as in-store preorders.
Like I said though, Best Buy could've got their act together for this preorder release. But we'll have to keep our fingers crossed and see.

I ordered on Monday, Sept 17th online for delivery because it said it would be delivered on launch day, Friday the 21st. I remember not hearing anything on Tuesday and Wednesday and being worried if I was going to actually get it on launch day. I posted on last year's pre-order thread too. I ended up getting bunch of AT&T Contract Agreements via email on Thursday. Then around mid-afternoon I got email from Best Buy saying it was shipped via UPS Overnight. I ended up receiving it on launch day before noon. Overall was a great experience, so I did the same thing this year and preordered on Monday since it still had launch day delivery.
Crossing my fingers that same thing happens.

If you're trading the phone in to Best Buy, you will need to bring it in. They will not give you your new phone until they complete the trade-in of your old one.
Assuming the store actually receives your phone (they are drop shipped directly to the store so the store has no way of knowing until they have the phones at the store), you will likely receive an email Thursday evening saying your phone is "Ready to pick up." Please keep in mind though that this is just confirming that they have your phone and it will be ready for pickup on Friday.

I just call Bestbuy ( 1888 - bestbuy )
and my item has been prepare automachine say , and wait for update via email , but on my bestbuy apps still showing in progress , i guess tomorrow wednesday will have tracking number #
FWIW, I just called best buy for the hell of it too. The automated system does say your item is preparing for shipment and you will receive updates to the email address you provided. I didn't call before tonight, so I'm not sure if that means they're actually preparing for shipment, or just their way of stating it hasn't shipped yet.
Is the reference number generally the BBY01-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx? Meaning the whole number?

I also placed an order for pickup for my wife 64gb Gold Max. I’ll hopefully be picking it up on Friday morning when the store opens and then swinging by the UPS Customer Center to pickup my phone on the way home.
Talked to one of the online reps and they too assured me that i would get the phone Friday delivered so i just ordered one as ATT just started pushing dates back for the model i wanted. Got a 256GB 11 Pro Space Gray. We will see.

Well my case is ready for pickup so there’s that. Lol. Also AT&T has a pending financing order. This would be the first time I’ve preordered anything from Best Buy much less a phone so I do hope it’s waiting for me Friday night. (11 Pro Max Grey 256gb)
I see Best Buy still has my model available for Sept 20. Should I cancel my Apple order and pre-order on Best Buy? Just not sure if AT&T will block it somehow seeing I already have an order pending.
