They will release a mini eventually. They like to starve mini users so that we all jump on an order together and see it as a major upgrade we can’t resist. Mini users are minimalistic people. We don’t use the phone as a consumption device most of our day. That’s what a big screen is for. What happened most likely was 12 mini was a hot seller and then the 13 mini wasn’t as the upgrade was minimal. Mini users won’t upgrade annually.
No. That’s not what happened. 12mini sold below expectations, and 13mini sold even worse. The latter maybe because of what you describe.

That being said, I fully agree that a Mini doesn’t make sense every year, but I would love if they’d bring one every 4-5 years. It would be perfect.

give me a mini phone and a 12 inch MacBook every 5 years and I'll be happy. im on the go baby...

The smaller iphone air (vs the plus) rumored to be 6.5" would pave the way -if succesful against the 6.3" standard iphone- for a smaller standard iphone that sits between the iphone and iphone mini at 5.8". If it got smaller bezels it wouldnt be much larger than the iphone mini and around the size of the SE.

Then the line-up would look like this:
-iphone 5.8"
-iphone air 6.5"
-iphone pro 6.3"
-iphone pro max 6.9"

Now that would make sense to me as a line up, with a size and weight for everyone.

A 5.4" iphone SE would still have my preference but this would be a somewhat acceptable alternative to me.

I think 5.8" would make sense. It would be the size of my iPhone 8, but full screen.

Is anyone finding the 16 pro really heavy? I guess coming from a mini, the feeling of weight is exaggerated, but damn this is a heavy phone. I'm hoping it feels better once I get a case and it's more grippy.

But certainly won't make it any lighter?

Could always try a regular iPhone 16 to see if you get on with that better

Still a pretty big screen size jump from 13 mini but

I just received my 16 Pro today and wiped my 13 Mini and gave it to my daughter. She likes it. I miss it already. Man, I wish Apple hadn't killed the mini size.

Yea, I have considered returning it for the regular 16. I'm hoping a leather case makes it feel nicer in the hand.

I am loving the battery life of the 16 pro. It's at 70% when my 12 mini would be dead. I can easily get through 2 days with the 16 pro.

Yeah, I got a regular 16 today and will decide whether to keep it or the Pro. But for now…16 wins. It feels much closer to the 13 mini and it looks way better too :)

I still hope it comes a smaller phone after Tim left the CEO position.
I have no problem waiting to upgrade 2-4 years, especially when there's no phone I really want and having no issues with the mini.
I've bought what I most need from Apple recently. If there's anything I'll buy from Apple in the coming year, it would be a new iPad mini with M-chip.

The SE and the Mini need to have a (small) baby. These two product concepts need to converge, then everyone is happy:

SE: Cheaper, lower (but modern) spec, lower cost / existing components/materials. Fun colors.

x

Mini: Sane size, designed for smaller, younger people (I've seen you guys with text zoom at 400% on your 7" phones!), modern feature set. Good for pairing with larger device like iPad.

==

Winning product every single time you put out an SE.

Pay homage to the OG SE!
Make Phones Small Again!!!

A phone this size, and some additional colors 😁
I had the golden iPod, still have it, but it has an ooold contact, so I couldn’t get it to charge.
I really loved it.

how about a screenless iPhone Shuffle, just a little nano-sized thing that responds to Siri?

(joking aside, I'd love a screenless Apple Watch)
Check out my thread for my iPhone Nano / Pocket watch in my sig!

Still has a screen but it very much works like an iPhone!

you too!! check my thread!
Man these introduced us to the short-lived 30 pin connector. It got eradicated with lightning connectors as our last proprietary connector of :apple: until 2023 when the company needed to comply with new EU regulations.
