we have mmWave support Japan iPhone 15
No

The portrait mode the iPhone 15 pro has is basically the same thing as the Focos app that does the same thing and has been around for years.

Also the multiple lenses it “has” are just cropped areas of the 48mp sensor that simulate a longer focal length and reduces quality (less megapixels) the more the image is cropped. You’ll go from 48mp to 12mp fairly quickly as the image is cropped tighter.

Why not shoot everything in 48mp in ProRAW and crop as needed in post which delivers the same results. Apple makes it sound exciting and new, but it’s just image cropping. If you recall, this was done with the 14 pro with the use of a 12mp image for an additional 2x camera. It’s ok, but image quality isn’t as good. I’d rather put an actual external lens over the 1x to get closer and maintain 48mp. For example the Beastgrip 1.7x lens which draws in light and offers more resolution. It offers amazing results, but it’s not for everyone. Only for the serious photographer and video enthusiasts.

Yes the 48mp sensor in the iPhone 15 Pro/max is new, but is it actually better? Maybe just a little…. Noticeable but not dramatic compared to the 14 pro series

I can't imagine being so concerned about having to carry around a different cable type. Guess I just have more important things going on. UCB-C isn't a selling point to me. In some ways, I think it's a downgrade. And I don't know about you, but I'll still need to bring the exact same number of cables when traveling as I do now because I don't have the time to charge one device at a time. So personally...this solves absolutely nothing and offers absolutely zero benefit 🤷‍♂️

And I say this as an Apple fan...if a freaking charging port change is "one of the best updates this year" that speaks volumes about how lackluster this whole update is.
Comical.

OK you show me a chart but that’s not what it is. It always doesn’t fail to amaze me when people just throw up charts supposed to believe it. You really need to look up more data sorry. All due respect I guess that’s why they call these fan sites

Spatial video was the biggest surprise for me, I had expected it a year later. I am really into VR and I am looking forward to using it. Although I hope that 3d video can be used on the oculus, I fear that apple will be apple and prevent that.
I’m sure it will be limited to viewing on the Vision Pro. But, I know I will own one eventually. Probably/definitely not the first iteration , but some day… So it will be nice to have my memories saved in a compatible format.

USB-C, action button and titanium frame will likely be carryovers to the 16. Besides the yearly camera and processor updates what can they add that is new and not just enhancements of these current things?
Phones have reached the “cash cow” stage where improvements are largely incremental. Most people don’t upgrade every year and the carrier subsidies reflerpcr that. I do think the titanium frame is a big deal as it makes the phone lighter. Those planning to get Vision Pro will also be interested in the spacial videos. But for most with an iPhone 14 series I’d advise waiting to see what the 16 series brings.

I once thought that foldables would be the next big thing, and perhaps that’s still true, but the Galaxy Fold has been put a few years now and Apple doesn’t seem to be in any rush to build a comparable device.

I'm not really enthused about USB-C, either, but I'll give it a chance, obviously. Trouble is I have lightning cables galore.
You can use them to charge your AirPods or give them to kids/teenagers/elders you know with older model iPhones

Excuse me, what?

That table is straight from Apple's page:

mmWave are defined as from band n257 to n263.

Do you see any of these 3 bands listed under the 2 iPhone 15 models for Japan?

Big disappointment. Will be repairing my 13 Max under APC+ for 29 (back glass broken/ was waiting to see deals upon release) The new phone is lackluster and honestly doesn't tempt me. I'd also have to change my plan on Verizon. I'd rather my bill be $60 cheaper a month. Not interested, which honestly hurts. I do miss the days where I coveted the newest technology because it was drastically better.... but thats not the case in the last few years.

“Australia, China, Japan, and Singapore are some of the countries outside of the U.S. that have deployed mmWave networks so far.”
it’s not like we don’t or these countries don’t have the capacity to do it. So let’s get that straight

Yeah this is true. Fine OK I see that.

But here’s the deal next time you write something don’t “NO“ that is above all the humongous text you put down.
I can say a lot of other things about this site because weird people manipulate other peoples reaction. But I’m not gonna do it. So just leave this I don’t like being trolled. I have nothing but respect for the people who run this site.

I like the move; thanks EU.
I’m worried it’s going to stifle innovation. Remember part of the reason USB-C exists was that Lightning made popular the idea of a reversible plug. Unlike USB-A and micro-USB, Lightning was easier to plug in sight unseen. The EU previously wanted to standardize on micro-USB.

Great point, yes indeed.

Just remember, you’re going to get the highest trade-in value right now if you wanna make the jump from one phone to another. Actually, I would say that the best time to have sold or traded in last years phone was before the live stream, but oh well.

Highest race in value or not, it’s still better practice to not upgrade every year. Trade in values are always worse than selling privately and 12 months is far too short a period of time to get monies worth of of a device.

The batteries on this year's phone is supposed to have ~10% higher output. The CPU is more efficient, and the screen brightness is the same as last year. How is the battery life (in hours) staying the same as last year? I would think we would be seeing ~10% boost in battery life.

If this has been addressed somewhere else already, please point me in the right direction. 👍🏼

People already speculated here that next year with bigger screen battery might drop - apple doesn’t want to state any numbers which might downward in the future.
Underpromise overdeliver at its finest - sure it will be better than 14pm at least because of increased battery (45xx vs 43xx).

I really hope they also improved heat management... It's really bad on a16 chip.
100%!

The heat issue seems to be the cause of the battery degradation on the 14 pro max, so if they did indeed improve that it might be worth an upgrade. My battery life has really taken a hit over the last couple of months.

In the Verge hands on article they had the below line, but obviously its a small sample size and will be interesting to see more testing done.

"The new chip also has a dedicated AV1 decoder for more efficient video streaming, and it also enables 4K60 video output over that USB-C port. In our brief hands-on time, the iPhone 15 Pro ran a bunch of games without exploding, so that’s a good sign? We’ll have to really test this thing in a proper review to know more."

The Verge - Hands On

After the pea size scandal with the verge - I doubt you can trust anything these people say.
For reference, 14 pro max and older versions were not exploding from the gaming.

Though more on the topic, i think it will stay hot and only fixed by iphone 16 pro. If this 15 pm is going to be cooler is only because of titanium body heat dissipation.

I would argue it’s one of the most boring pro year upgrades ever, makes me think of the X>XS. 14/14 plus>15/15 plus on the other hand is a very significant upgrade in almost every aspect. I’d say this is a much better year for the non pros than the pros. I’ll hold onto my 14 pro another year

Yeah, my 1-year-old 14 pro is very degraded compared to earlier phones at the 1-year-mark…
Mine isn’t. Apple shows 99% and coconut shows 100% with about 170 cycles. I only use the 5W charger overnight. I keep the phone between 60-75f.

I really think the battery health thing has been blown out of proportion and most people are fine. It’s only the hardcore users who use like 8 hours of SOT a day and are fast charging and cycling their batteries like crazy on the daily who are naturally degrading their batteries.

Check your cycles on coconut battery I’m curious how many you have. And curious how many “average” users have. If the cycles are below 200 and you are down to like 88% or less then yeah maybe something could be a little fishy or you just got a worse than average battery. Otherwise if you already have over 400 and you are below 90% I’m not sure why anyone would be complaining.
