Has anyone who had 3.0 installed tried to put the GM back over it, and see if tethering shows up then?

What are you using for the source of your mobilconfig file?
The AT&T one at help.benm.at now seems to be hosed.
Have you tried using the code from the first page?
It worked for me today ;)

Good luck,
Token

For some reason the code from the first page didn't work for me. But I configured another file a bit differently and it did work. I'm willing to put it up somewhere if someone can suggest where.

Restore Visual VoiceMail to iPhones with the AT&T tether hack -

Type into the phone keypad *5005*86*{yournumber}# where {yournumber} is your 7 digit cellphone number. Don't forget the pound sign (#) at the end of the string. Then hit Call. It'll flash for a second, then Visual VoiceMail should be restored.

I can confirm this worked for me.

This has not worked for me. Tethering is working, mms is not.

I think that the problem here is that people might be using different ipcc files.

I copied the source from the early post and emailed it as an attachment to my phone (make sure name is the same: us_att.mobileconfig). Opening the attachment installed the profile but I got the same error initially.

A hard boot did the trick for me ;)

Good luck,
Token

This worked for me perfectly. Before seeing this work around, I tried the listed link after installing 3.0 this morning, and I could never see the tethering option. Following Token's directions worked well ... and I didn't even have to hard boot. Tethering nicely via USB on my MBPro running 10.5.7 :D

Your awesome! Thanks!

Allright so far I have tethering working and MMS does show up in messages but does not work also my Visual Voicemail is working, I'm running 3.0(7a341) leaked on torrents a couple days ago.

this is what i did,

1) Downloaded the "mobilecongfig" from http://www.benm.at/help/ yesterday, but i managed to upload it here. (DO NOT DOWNLOAD FROM THE benm.at SITE CAUSE SOMEONE MESSED IT UP OVER THERE)*

*download and unzip. then e-mail to self, open on Mail on iPhone, Install.

2) Did this according to Instructions (I believe it's mac only) http://9to5mac.com/iPhone-3G-tethering

3) "Cellular Data Network" menu appeared under "settings" > "general" > "network"

4) put in the info supplied for MMS on http://www.benm.at/help/

Ok heres how you fix your voice mail-
1. Connect the phone to itunes and option click restore
2. Navigate to your user name->Library->iTunes->iPhone Carrier Support
3. Select the file contained within "iPhone Carrier Support" and proceed
You now have your voicemail working again"

6) took out sim and put it back in while restarting the phone.

Theese Instructions are AT&T only! and is what worked for me, MMS still doesn't work but at last I see the camera icon! lol!

Using the original code from page 1 got it working for me when the current one wouldn't do a thing. Just have tethering fright now.

I think that's if you use the ipcc file method and not the mobileconfig method. I could try changing it from -2 to -3 to see if it changes anything but I doubt it will.

Just tried it, switched from -2 to -3 and nothing... still no MMS, Tethering is good still!

Try this...

Restart iPhone, reset network settings for cellular data
Reboot, now install settings from website with all tethering settings.
Shut down, remove SIM card, start up, do any passcode lock, replace SIM

See if tethering comes up, mine dissapeared, couldn't see anything to do with tethering, after a couple restarts and installs it came back, stayed since.

YOU ARE THE MAN THANK YOU

Oh I didn't realize we could attach files. Here's a working mobileconfig file to enable tethering. Just download, remove the .txt extension, email it to yourself, and install from your email on your iphone.

help me understand. to turn on Tethering, you followed the 9to5mac.com guide. To get MMS to work, you had to download files from torrent sites and do something in the settings? Could you make the MMS process a bit clearer? Thank you in advance.

shouldn't the UUID in the mobileconfig file be unique to each device?

this is what you do,

1) download the file attached here and e-mail to yourself, open in mail on iPhone.

2) go to http://9to5mac.com/iPhone-3G-tethering and follow their instructions to get tethering on.

**When you do step 2 "Cellular Data Network" menu appears under "settings" > "general" > "network"

**MMS is not working for me but the icon does show up and you can select pictures but you get an error when sending... (look a past post pic attachment)

3) when "Cellular Data Network" menu appears go to it and type this info there,
