Awsome

Thanks for all the info and files to enable tethering. Since I am not on a MAC, and cannot do the steps as outlined in the 9to5 mac steps, how would I go about getting the Cellular Data Network option to appear? Thanks in advance.

this is what you do,

1) download the file attached here and e-mail to yourself, open in mail on iPhone.

2) go to http://9to5mac.com/iPhone-3G-tethering and follow their instructions to get tethering on.

**When you do step 2 "Cellular Data Network" menu appears under "settings" > "general" > "network"

**MMS is not working for me but the icon does show up and you can select pictures but you get an error when sending... (look a past post pic attachment)

3) when "Cellular Data Network" menu appears go to it and type this info there,

U.S.A
AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
User: wap@cingulargprs.com
Pw: CINGULAR1
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy: 66.209.11.32

**your VV will not work so I followed the advice from one of the comments on http://9to5mac.com/iPhone-3G-tethering

"EASY VOICEMAIL FIX! (restores original carrier settings)

Ok heres how you fix your voice mail-
1. Connect the phone to itunes and option click restore
2. Navigate to your user name->Library->iTunes->iPhone Carrier Support
3. Select the file contained within "iPhone Carrier Support" and proceed
You now have your voicemail working again"

6) took out sim and put it back in while restarting the phone.

Theese Instructions are AT&T only! and is what worked for me.

WOw, worked like a charm. Visual Voicemail still works too! Thanks!

That's great! I wish I could get MMS going... I'm working to see if I can find a fix!

Update, I restarted the iPhone and saw the camera icon, but I when sending something there was an error. So something must be wrong with proxies or permissions at this point.

instead of doing option "restore" try alt "restore" or shift or ctrl?

Just wanted to to get this out... I've been an avid macrumors reader since iPhone 2G, but I always underestimated the power of the forums! today I've been proven wrong! I'm glad I joined!

btw everyone just e-mailed the guy at benm.at,

"So I got tethering enabled and the camera icon does show up on the messages app, I also did put in the info supplied on your site for AT&T MMS but I still can't send any MMS.."

let's hope he can come up with a solution...

Ha I'm glad I posted the contents of that original file on page 1 of this thread. I though that might be useful.

i didn't see anyone ask this but... how do you "disable" this?
uninstalling the profile does not seem to remove the tethering option. Is there another config file that restores the configuration back to no tethering?

asking this just in case i would need to remove the tethering option in the future..

this of course is without restoring the iphone.

I need to know this so that I can erase everything asnd start from scratch.

Wow I actually got tethering working! This is great. I also did not have any problems with visual voicemail or anything like that.

Just one question though, will I have to pay extra for Tethering?
