In response to my problem, it appears that the network diagnostic tool is failing under the "ISP" section. By all accounts, it seems as though I should be able to browse the Internet on my computer, but for some reason, it isn't working.

Frustrating. Maybe it's something on AT&T's side?

They are not blocking anything. If you can't get it working, you need to look at your local settings.

Like I said, I can successfully connect via Bluetooth or with the included cable, but I can't access the Internet. My firewall is disabled.

EASY VOICEMAIL FIX! (restores original carrier settings)

Ok heres how you fix your voice mail-
1. Connect the phone to itunes and option click restore
2. Navigate to your user name->Library->iTunes->iPhone Carrier Support
3. Select the file contained within "iPhone Carrier Support" and proceed
You now have your voicemail working again

Is this only on a Mac? I'm running Windows and new voicemails are not showing in VVM, however I do have the tethering option. How can I get this file from Windows? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Every thing looks right from that. Can you access the internet from the phone? Have you tried power cycling the phone?

Try the suggestion in message 318.
Mail yourself the file.

C.

Do you mean the file for tethering? If so, I've already done that, and I have tethering working perfectly.

I'm having problems with visual voicemail.

If you mean to e-mail myself the carrier file to fix visual voicemail, I don't have it, but if someone can upload it I'd really appreciate it.

after the install, "set up internet tethering" appears in Settings/Network, but when I click on it I get "Set up internet tethering. To enable tethering on this account, contact AT&T".

any thoughts/ideas?

I've got this same problem. Does anyone have a solution? I have tried many methods including Dark Knight's and 9to5 mac's.

I just removed that tethering profile located in Settings - General and turned the phone off/on and the tethering option is still there, and my VVM is now working.

Ok I have tethering working great, but I am still wondering about MMS. I have it down to where the camera icon shows up in SMS and it will attempt to send the picture, but it can't. After reading through all of these posts, am I right in assuming that there is currently no correct "Username and password" and all that info?

I recommend the 9to5mac way of doing the tethering. It works flawlessly.

I got teathering to work but no Camera icon in messaging... any ideas?

What method did you use? When I used the method described in the start of this thread I had nothing in my SMS, but after I used the Terminal/Carrier Update method I had it there after restarting my phone.

If you had read through all the posts, you would have saw mine about AT&T's MMS opt out.

I've found where the carrier file to get VV is located in windows!

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Carrier Support\

Epic.

I have tethering working perfect with a USB cord, but I can't pair my iPhone with my MacBook Pro. It tries to pair, I get a message on iPhone to accept the MacBook Pro, then it fails. I did do the Bluetooth Update a few hours ago. Any answers? Please!!

Try keeping the bluetooth window open on the iphone until pairing is complete.
