two things i'm looking for:

1. have option to turn off landscape keyboard - i am used to portrait keyboard, and sometimes the landscape keyboard gets in the way, like you lay on your side to send an email or text and automatically switches to landscape

2. enable voice control for 2G and 3G, maybe even have a price of $5-$10, it seems so literal.
Not going to happen on either one of em. Sorry to burst your bubble.

3.0 is nowhere near a disaster.
It is working fine without any problems here to both my 3G and 3GS so lets not label minor bugs a disaster os.
You want to talk about disaster talk about 2.0, that was a nightmare.

Well i dont know why some of you are in such a hurry just because there is a new beta available two weeks after the new 3.0 disaster after moths of working on it.

when entering email accts iphone recognizes google sync and the fact that it doesnt get email so it cant be turned on or off like before if that matters to anyone
What I'd like to see is the ability to use google sync *and* active sync. So I can have my calendar with google, and easily read my work email too, without being forced to use my work calendar on the iphone.

Has anyone else noticed the force quit feature taking a long time? When i force quit safari it appears to freeze on the slide to power off screen, but eventually quits safari.

No.
But what I have noticed is that my 3GS hasn't crashed yet (knock wood).
Safari crashes on my 3G were frequent.

Agreed.
3.0 has been a very solid upgrade from my 3G and 3GS.
2.0 was just nutty bad.

So when I leave my 3gS running 3.1 plugged in, the battery goes down to 97%, then up to 100% then slowly down to 97% again then back up. Anyone seeing the same?

I've read someone posted and asked about AVRCP, but never got any word from it. Could you guys test it out if this AVRCP Bluetooth profile works now on 3.1?

just tried and it only lets you activate only one but i hear ya that would be nice

Wow, I just installed it on my 3G and it is quite impressive. The lag time for opening/closing programs has significantly decrease so has the start/shutdown times. I am very pleased with this update.

The good news is that, given that this is 3.1 and not 3.0.1, more goodies are likely coming. Apple typically seeds several betas, and leaves the good stuff for the end.

that's roaming. he's talking about changing sims.

I think he's confused... can't see how a GSM phone could roam on a CDMA network.

2G here ...yeah i know, it is jailbroken, but i have it

Yes, but on a 2G and 3G its not very accurate, at least according to an engineer I spoke to at Apple not too long ago. Just because it can be done, doesn't mean that it works properly.

1) Amen!
2) Not going to happen. Its a hardware feature of the 3GS, using a real DSP that does not physically exist on your 2G/3G. Esp not on the 2G whose audio recording bitrate is subpar.
