Upgraded my phone yesterday and it is constantly freezing for 10-20 seconds at a time, mostly at the home screen. When I'm inside an app it kind of works for a bit longer, but every minute or so, I press something and have to wait 10-20 seconds before anything happens. Thought it was maybe the re-indexing but 24 hours later it was the same problem.

I tried to backup and restore the phone today (re-installing the backup) but same problem. I guess I'm now trying a clean install to see if it's something I have installed that ****s it up.

Am I the only one?? This is incredibly frustrating.
all of the ios11 betas 1 - 10-, the GM and the OFFICIAL releases of 11.0 and 11.0.1 brick the iphone 7plus. apple engineering is not fixing the problem. check out the apple customer support forum. its getting ugly. performance is slow. 8 sec response after tapping an app to start. the control panel is useless because of the terrible response. the mic will not work for dictation. the phone will dial out but you are placed on mute and cannot change that. movies from news apps and Netflix will not play. ive been reporting these issue since the first beta ant it seems to fall on deaf ears. Apple Support answers with party line verbiage. no help. this issue is not getting attention anywhere. all i see are news articles extolling the iPhone 8 8+ and X. the negative is not getting attention.

I have a 256GB iPhone 7 Plus. None of what you're saying is true. I've had 0 problems with iOS 11 or even 11.0.1. The issues you're having are either exaggerated or you installed a beta that caused some file corruption, and didn't restore as new after the official release. Don't use your beta backup to restore your phone. Start over.

While his case may be extreme, don’t conclude it is incorrect. I have a 7+ 128GB and I have some of his issues even after working with Apple and doing a complete reset as new from scratch.

If you've reset as new and it's still happening, perhaps it's time for Apple to replace your phone under warranty.

BTDT at the Apple Store.
They could find nothing wrong and attributed it to a software issue. They said they have seen a few of these.
Told me a future update should fix it.

That's really a cop out. It's their hardware and their software not working = broken phone which is not cool at all. I would have told them, provide me with a working phone until your mythical future update.

May be but that was the result of their analysis. Could I take it further? Yes. Will I? Not sure. I will likely give it a .x update and see what happens.

I went back to 10.3.3. iOS 11 in my opinion was clearly designed for the X, I'm sure with that OLED screen all those bold fonts will look great, as well as everything having rounded edges. Maybe some of those glitchy-can-this-really-be-on-purpose animations (swipe to delete an alarm) will look great too. For all I know, even 3D Touch won't stutter on the X. But the iPhone 7 Plus in my opinion, was not what the boys at Apple had in mind when they were designing 11. Too many bugs to list, too many little things that add up to a terrible experience. Thank goodness they are still signing 10.3.3, I wish it was indefinite so I could give 11 a try again. Oh well.

Maybe it is due to the Universal Clipboard.

While I'm waiting on the iPhone X, I need a phone that is compatible with my Apple Watch Series 3, which requires iOS 11. So, since I'm convinced these problems are a result of my aftermarket screen replacement, I think I'll buy a 64 GB 8 Plus, sell my downgraded (to 10.3.3) 7 Plus on eBay now, and then sell the new 8 Plus once I have the X in-hand on November 3. What a pain in the arse.

Animation speeds are deliberately slowed and home button lag introduced all to intentionally cripple the performance of older devices.

I remember feeling so pleased with the speed and zippiness of my 7+ with iOS 10. The home button lag is beyond a joke.

Just go Tim. Take your precious money and go live like a king somewhere like you think you are.

Interesting how there are people with iPhone 8 that are complaining about the same kind of things. Also interesting how in the early days of iOS 10 there were similar things going on and in the later iOS 10 updates things "magically" became great for most, including many that were compelling about things in the early days.

i installed a clean version. i'd love to send you a recording of the screen but, thats not working....why would i make this stuff up? I've been an apple fan since the late 80's i live the apple ecosystem and i don't mind paying a lot for "it just works [mostly]"

Well you stated that it doesn’t work for any iPhone 7+ which just isn’t true. I can’t tell you why you would make stuff up, only you can do that. Sorry it’s not working for you and I’m sure you’ll get the matter resolved at some point. I would recommend putting the phone in DFU mode and doing a clean install no backup. If you still have issues after that then it may be a hardware issue like the PCB fracture or water damage that you aren’t exactly aware of.

watch this
. perhaps i was too general. however MANY 7+ users are having this issue. better? ;-)

Mine was nowhere near this bad!

A complete factory reset as new device and reinstall manually fixed 90% of my freeze crash issue.
Some came back. :(

Apple Store did check my device out and says it is a software issue - they have seen this with a few 7+'s.
Best of luck and hope you get it solved. ;)

Had a new 7 yesterday. During backing up to retrieve old date from previous phone via iTunes, update to 11.0 1 installed and has buggered the phone up. No email, slow response to the home button and screen and apps. Established contacts not showing, only a mobile number. Apple really fouled up with this.

I honestly don't know what to do about this. I've never had so many problems with a single device in such a short time. It hurts my brain knowing that this is all just sloppy software ruining the extremely fast hardware that I've been using for the past year. I've been experiencing so many little problems all over the place it honestly feels like they don't even have a chance of catching them all (especially if its the same team that cleared this for a GM release!).

The entire reason I've invested in the apple ecosystem is to avoid problems that are 50% as bad as what I'm currently experiencing.

No audio during calls
Speaker phone randomly coming on during normal calls (even though its not enabled on the phone)
Siri doesn't get any voice input
Crashes in multiple apps throughout the day
Full OS crashes with black loading screen
Spotify app not registering on the lock screen or notification center
Apple navigation not coming up on lock screen
Volume controls not working
Bluetooth problems

And this is after over 5 full resets. I can't go back to 10 because it converted my iCloud backup to 11...

THIS IS INSANE

Yep mine is the same. Tried to reset to a back up version of my old 6s and that has been updated to 11.0 1 too. I may try returning the phone as it is in the 14 day right to reject period, but I'm assuming they'll say the phone isn't at fault and its my fault for installing the update. I can but try.

Here’s a new one
Yesterday anyone on Android stopped getting my texts from iMessage. My roommate and son (Galaxy S8 / Note 4) stopped getting my texts. My daughter on her iPhone 5S got them. Texts to fellow workers - the same.
After I found out about it I rebooted my phone and the problem went away. No indication on my phone anything was wrong. I was receiving from Android devices no problem. WTH?
Nothing listed in Analytics.

Crazy stuff since iOS 11. o_O

Sucks but if IOS 11 broke your phone or drained battery life restore to 10.3.3 before they slam the signing window shut and you're completely SOL, playing the wait game for proper fixes

If there was a way to roll back your Apple Watch ....

I have sent mine into apple before when on a beta and they restored it to previous version

When I was on 9.3.3 and tried iOS 10 beta they rolled it back to watchOS 2 from 3 beta

Not sure in this case but couldn't hurt to call up support and insist u need iOS 10 for 32 bit stuff and hence watchOS 3 and see what happens? Something to that effect

My watch was also still under warranty at the time i think so no charge. Dunno if there's a fee assuming they even can do it/are willing to

Could also tell them Watch os4 was bad and so was iOS 11 so ur on 10 indefinitely.

Lmk how it goes

--

I have a feeling my watch series 0 will be terrible on watch os 4 Battery life wise and slow to a crawl

It's on3.1 to be pairsble with my 10.1.1 7+ and 10.2 SE

I’m having all the issues you’ve listed above.

Rang someone, noticed the call had been answered but had no sound whatsoever.

I loaded an app and it was as if the app was loading, but it was just stuck like that. I press the home button and get haptic feedback, but nothing happens on screen. I press lock loads of times out of frustration and put my phone down, then see it flash multiple times and react to the lock button presses randomly about 40 seconds later. It then completely froze and I got a black screen with the respring animation in the centre of the screen before the phone came back.

I was curious and tried to use Siri but all I get when I say Hey Siri or hold the home button is “what can I help you with?” and anything I say or when I tap the Siri icon on screen does absolutely nothing.

Plus I’m randomly losing control of Apple Music as if the phone thinks nothing is playing. It will work from my car’s steering wheel controls but on my 7+ itself it shows the music widget on the lock screen but it doesn’t say it’s playing and the skip or go back options are greyed out, and when it is playing on it says on my car dash “Unknown - Unknown” where it’ll usually say the song name and the artist.

My battery is also taking a weird hit, seems to have gotten worse since 11.0.1 which is weird, I do hope they sort this because it’s making me think twice about considering getting either the 8+ or the X when iOS is running so badly. Especially when my 7+ felt like a true powerhouse and running great with iOS 10.
