Went from a 64 GB iPhone 6 to a 64 GB iPhone 8. First impression was how smooth ios 11 ran and the taptic home button. The glass back was a nice touch and better grip then the aluminum. I gifted my wife my 6 as she broke her iPhone so this opportunity fell in my lap!. The X looks great but the price is a bit much to justify.

Thanks! Really liking the new shade of gold!
I was wondering if I could you do me a favor. My concern was the hissing noise from the video recording. This problem occurred in ip7 plus.Would you be able to test that out in a silent room? Thanks if you do.

Just got my 8 Plus set up. The silver is basically a white option, and it looks phenomenal compared to the aluminum body. Fast(really, really fast!), beautiful display, and classic proportions-I love it. My last Plus was the original 6, and this is a whole new ball game.

The 8 plus is an absolute tank of a phone in comparison-but damn, it’s a beautifully mature product. You might call it the penultimate version of this body style. The X is exciting, but I think the 8 plus is going to go down as one of the best phones Apple has ever made.

As said, been running this case for 3 years... survived many drops without a scratch.

Disclaimer: These photos were taken with my old 6s Plus. :)

Anyway, I literally just powered it up and got it activated and am very impressed so far. A definite huge upgrade over the 6s Plus!!!
Sticking with my iPhone 6S Plus for another year, but I sure have been lusting after the golden 8 Plus - just as you have shared. Thank you! It looks gorgeous!

Just received my iPhone 8 in space grey. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the iPhone 8 and 8+ do work perfectly with existing iPhone 7/7+ LifeProof cases.

As they should. You basically getting a glass back and slight change on camera which is still debatable

The glass back and the extra heft compared to the 7 makes it a very nice phone. I really like it.

The last thing I want is for something heavier in my pocket. The glass looked nice but it's in a freaking case for me. It could be plastic and I wouldn't care.

I am having a problem (already!) with my 8. It is a 256 gb silver. It was fine earlier today when i was changing to it at home, but now i'm home tonight, and it is having trouble staying connected to wifi. I know its not my wifi, my computer is fine, my husband's phone is fine, mine keeps dropping and reconnecting. I tried calling Apple who had me reset my network connection (did not work) as well as resetting my software for my phone through iTunes. The apple care guy said if i had any problems, i should call him and i did because the software update failed on my computer. It is now 10:21 at night and i'm not really in the mood to do any more computer stuff now. Has anyone else had this happen and do any of you have any suggestions? Thanks so much! (if it continues tomorrow i will be going to the Apple store).

At a wild guess: ios, maybe?

I’ve noticed that my WiFi connection is slow and almost “non-existent” at times. I know it’s not my network because I’m testing several devices at the same time. But yes, I have noticed that my WiFi connection is sluggish, slow, and at times it just hangs there

its delusional to think Apple will make more 8S or 9 when the Phone future is already written in 10. I mean. people need to use some common sense
[doublepost=1506100693][/doublepost]

These delusions need to stop. Apple would be laughed at and saying hey we think this insecure tech needs to come back and oh yeah Face ID is not the future because we are bringing back the old tech. I mean people need to use some common sense.

"Stylus, who needs a stylus?". Nek minnit, "Please wlcome Shiller to the stage to talk about the Apple pen".

Space Grey 8 plus owner here. Overall I'm really pleased with it, but disappointed with the inbuilt camera app. I get exponentially better images using a third party app for taking photo's, which allows me full control of the camera and to save the images as RAW files and then edit them in Lightroom/Photoshop.

I was also disappointed with having to download all the apps again, but that's a shortcoming of the latest version of iTunes rather than the phone itself. I like to sync my iPhone and iPad via lightning cable and not via wifi to iCloud.

Went from a 7 plus to an 8 plus and here are my first impressions:
The device doesn't feel any faster in "real world" use. I'll give it some time to finish doing whatever new phones does and start to settle into normal use.
I'm already in love with wireless charging. I've got a stand on my nightstand and it was always a huge pain to get the 7 plus connected since it wasn't a loose cable. I'd have to take my time to get the plug to go in on the stand. That is now a thing of the past!
I like the look of the glass back but it immediately got covered up with a case so that kind of doesn't matter.
Other than that, just seems like the same old phone. I haven't been able to use the camera yet so I'm sure that will be a big difference from my 7 plus.

I was in the same boat. I can't believe that Apple got rid of App syncing in iTunes 12.7. It was a big pain to get all my old apps on to the phone and updated. I understand that Apple is pushing iCloud backup and restoring from it wirelessly but I guess I'm one of the old school people who prefers to start fresh with a new phone and sync it directly with my computer. Kind of a frustrating experience.

I was however, extremely surprised at just how fast the apps downloaded from our wifi, exponentially faster than my old iPhone 6! Big apps, like Facebook took all of about 10 seconds to come through, not minutes like I've previously experienced.

Anyone get one with a dead battery out of the box? Mine was charged to like 80% but my wife’s is totally dead. Charging it now so we can set it up. Aren’t they typically always charged?

Didn’t want to wait until January for the X, made an impulse upgrade today.

First “silver” phone I’ve ever gone as I always go black/space gray.

It’s absolutrly beautiful and will say it’s more gray than silver and is very stylish.

The glass black feels excellent and love the lack of visual fingerprints with the lighter phone.

I’ll try to preorder an X still but very happy with this.

Unpopular opinion here...

Current have a Galaxy S8 since launch. I had every single iPhone before it. Drank the iPhone kool-aid and preordered the iPhone 8 since I have JOD and planned on getting the iPhone X next month. Turned it on, used it for about 15 minutes then popped the SIM back into my S8. Gonna return it and hold off until the X releases.

I own an S8+ And iPhone 7Plus. What put you off a phone about the 8?

I did the upgrade (8/256/black), partially because my 7 was scratched up, I’ll admit if it was mint condition probably would not have switched. I really like the 8’s glass back! For being smooth as silk it really is less slippery to hold. Other than that, true tone is very nice, not sure how effective it is IRL but easy on the eyes. Can’t wait to wireless charge. Fast processor.

What were you expecting? These kind of posts bewilder me.

I got the silver too and it’s my first white iPhone since the 4. Man, it’s beautiful. That back glass is like a perfect mix between white and silver. Love it.

Yes which I was completely surprised. Mine was completely dead and had to charge before turning on but my hubby that came along with mine had 96% battery. I haven't opened the 3rd one yet because its a gift for my nephew but I will see tomorrow.
[doublepost=1506140228][/doublepost]I'm not a fan of the true tone. It's killing my eyes. I like brightness and not the ambience yellowish tone

The ambient yellow tone is killing your eyes? That’s the opposite of what is supposed to happen, lol. Brightness at night is terrible for your eyes.

You can turn True Tone off though.

This feels like a major upgrade for me coming from the 7+. The camera is phenomenal, battery life has been way better, and this thing is FAST! True Tone looks great (I’ve always loved it on the iPad Pro) and all around feels great.

I’ll report in - upgraded from an SE and decided to go for the 8 Plus instead of wait for the X due to the refinements, lower price, and maybe the final iteration of this design. I wasn’t sure during the initial preorder process, but walked into my local Apple Store and they had quite a few available - picked up a 64GB silver one (SIM free) and I’ll agree with the other positive comments others have shared (feels solid, speedy, excellent camera).

I tried it with my iPad fast-charging setup (Apple 29W + USB-C-to-Lightning cable) and a Samsung not-so-fast-charge Qi charger and both work as advertised as the speeds you’d expect.

I will say that iOS 11’s migration process is extra-slick, as is remember the cards I previously had in Apple Pay (just re-verify). Restoring feels way more cohesive now and Apple has put some work in making some things clearer.

I picked up a cheap Spigen case for now, but may get an Apple one (always was a fan of the silicone ones when I had a 6.)
